The trial of 407 defendants, 107 of whom were detained, including the leader of the organization Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was asked to be imprisoned for up to 2 thousand 352 years, continued on its 11th day.

The president of the court said to Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, “You did not give a detailed statement about Adem Soytekin. Could you give your detailed statement regarding this issue?” posed the question. Çalık replied, “I know him closely, I know his family, I know his children. However, I have never given an instruction saying ‘Give Adem Soytekin this, give him that’.”

Fatih Keleş’s nephew, İBB İsper A.Ş. The defendant Murat Keleş, whose employee is detained, was asked about businessman Ahmet Sari’s statements in the indictment that he delivered 169 million 500 thousand TL of bribe money to his older brother Zafer Keleş and his nephew Murat Keleş at the Presidential Residence in Florya on different dates.

Murat Keleş, who answered “Zero TL” to the question of his monthly income, explained the detention and detention process. Keleş said, “At that time, we used to meet my uncle Fatih Keleş in Bakırköy and the additional service building, and I would sometimes visit him. We did not meet outside with my uncle, I was not personally close to him.” Rejecting the allegations in Ahmet Sari’s statement, Keleş said, “It is a lie. We met when you were together with my uncle. I did not take money from him.”

Defense will be heard in the case only on Monday next week. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, requests for release from detained defendants who have not made a defense will be received. A detention evaluation will be held on Thursday. It is expected that the case, which is expected to end at the end of April, will be delayed.

An indictment was prepared against former Public Prosecutor Cengiz Çallı, who was dismissed while working at Istanbul Bakırköy Courthouse, on the grounds that he accepted bribes and violated confidentiality in the investigations he conducted. Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office requested a prison sentence of 6 years 10 months to 22 years 6 months for Çallı. In the indictment, it was stated that Çallı was in close contact with Atalay Demirbaş, a businessman known for his macaron smuggling case. According to the camera records, it was determined that Demirbaş entered the prosecutor’s office easily and the documents in the files that had a restriction order were shared with him.

EVICTION NEGOTIATION

According to the details in the investigation file, the process worked as follows: An agreement was reached for the release of detained suspect ZY for 300 thousand dollars. In the first stage, 50 thousand dollars (412 thousand TL) was deposited into Demirbaş’s account. After the money was deposited, Prosecutor Çallı directed Demirbaş as to which authority the release petitions would be submitted to and gave an opinion that the suspects should be released under house arrest. In the indictment, it was emphasized that there was correspondence stating that 75 thousand dollars was ready in July 2021, and that the base records confirmed the witness statements that Çallı personally received this money. One of the most striking evidence in the indictment was the message Demirbaş sent to the prosecutor after a request was rejected: “They already paid less than the first job, they will pay a little more.” It was stated that this message was clear evidence of the payments made for the evacuation process. It was also noted that Prosecutor Çallı tried to obtain financial benefits in exchange for a decision of non-prosecution against some suspects and the return of the seized money, and that he violated the confidentiality of the investigation by sharing the file information.

Record compensation was given to an 11-year-old boy named Eren K., who was seriously injured and had permanent health problems after being hit by a truck while running away from a stray dog ​​in Manisa. The court found the Governorship, Metropolitan Municipality and Yunusemre Municipality at fault and awarded compensation of 10 million 252 thousand 74 TL. Speaking to SABAH, lawyer Muhammet Fatih Demir said, “Eren has difficulty walking and speaking. The court gave 10 million 252 thousand liras as compensation for permanent disability and incapacity. However, we did not receive compensation due to the loss resulting from the shakeup of the economic future. We requested this, too. For this reason, we objected to the decision and took the file to appeal.” In the incident that took place on October 24, 2022 in Cumhuriyet District of Yunusemre district; Primary school student Eren K. was attacked by a stray dog ​​in front of his house where he went to buy bread. The child, who was trying to escape from the dog, was seriously injured when he was hit by a passing pickup truck.

While the incident was recorded on a workplace security camera, Eren K. was hospitalized and treated in intensive care for a long time. The child, who survived the life-threatening situation, suffered permanent damage to his ability to walk, speak and use his limbs. Deciding on the case filed by the family, Manisa 2nd Administrative Court ruled that Manisa Governorship, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and Yunusemre Municipality did not effectively fulfill public services regarding the control and supervision of stray animals. In the decision, it was stated that the administration is obliged to constantly monitor the service it provides and take the necessary measures, and that the administration is responsible for the damage caused by failure to fulfill this obligation. The court decided to pay a total of 10 million 252 thousand 74 TL, including material and moral damages and interest, in favor of Eren K.

The selection process, which started the day before after the announcement of the National Defense University (MSÜ) 2026 results, witnessed intense applications from the first hours. According to the shared data, 11 thousand 566 candidates completed their procedures within the first 4 hours of the preferences. A total of 645 thousand 406 candidates participated in the exam held on March 1. After the results were announced by ÖSYM, the candidates turned to the system, and the intensity in the first hours attracted attention. According to experts, this picture indicates that the demand for military academies and non-commissioned officer vocational schools continues to increase.

While Berktay drew attention to the opportunities and risks of the artificial intelligence age, Pembecioğlu emphasized that the way of exposure to information has changed. The contents were planned to cover different areas of social sciences. There will be courses such as history, sociology, philosophy, economics, culture and civilization studies. The courses will consist of original content prepared by academics who are experts in their fields. Upon completion of each program, participants will be given a certificate of achievement. Participants who receive the certificate will have the right to move on to a higher program or new content. Thanks to the learning management system (LMS) used on the platform, participants will be able to track their performance in the program.

Within the scope of activities extending from the Balkans to Africa, from Central Asia to Latin America, orphans, disabled people, disadvantaged groups, relatives of martyrs, veterans and compatriots were brought together on the same platform. While food parcels prepared according to local needs analyzes were delivered to those in need, iftar tables contributed to the strengthening of social ties. Within the scope of the programs carried out this year, TİKA directly reached approximately 600 thousand people in a total of 85 countries. Tables and aid organizations set up in different geographies kept the spirit of sharing in Ramadan alive on a global scale. Within the framework of iftar organizations, which constitute one of the important legs of the program, TIKA organized a total of 91 iftar programs in 50 countries. Thanks to these organizations, thousands of people came together at the same table and strengthened the feeling of unity and solidarity. TİKA also organized a total of 85 food packages in 59 countries and directly reached those in need. The distributed food parcels were prepared according to needs and contributed to meeting basic needs. TIKA did not forget Palestine, who spent Ramadan under Israeli attacks. More than 200 tons of food packages were distributed throughout Palestine with the Heart Table program. With the food support, approximately 130 thousand meals were prepared for iftar by the end of Ramadan in almshouses, soup kitchens and social service centers.
