Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan resigned from CHP: Would a chairman swear at the mayor?
CHP’s Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan announced that he resigned from CHP in a statement he made on his social media account. In Özarslan’s statement, “Would a chairman swear at the mayor? Would a chairman target and insult family values? Would a chairman threaten with unspeakable words?” His use of expressions also attracted attention.
The Republican People’s Party was shaken by one of the harshest internal crises of recent years. Ankara Keçiören Mayor Dr. Mesut Özarslan resigned from his party with serious accusations targeting CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. In Özarslan’s statements, especially Özgür Özel’s style and party management approach were criticized harshly.
“WILL THE GENERAL MAYOR CURSING AT THE MAYOR?”
Özarslan, who published a long and remarkable statement on his social media account, claimed that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel sent him messages containing insults, threats and slander via WhatsApp. In his statement, Özarslan posed the following questions to the public:
“Would a chairman swear at the mayor?
Would a chairman target and insult family values?
Would a chairman threaten with unspeakable words?
Özarslan described the targeting of his mother and late father as “unacceptable” and stated that it was not possible to do politics under the umbrella of CHP with this understanding.
MURAT CORPORATE VISIT TRIGGED THE CRISIS
It was stated that the background of the resignation process was Özarslan’s meeting with the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum. Stating that this visit, which was carried out to find a solution to Keçiören’s problems, was deliberately targeted by some cliques within the CHP, Özarslan emphasized that a “systematic gossip and perception operation” was being carried out within the party.
Although Özarslan stated that his relationship with Murat Kurum was a school and work friendship that goes back a long way, he said that this visit was interpreted differently by the CHP administration and the pressure increased.
HEAVY CRITICISM ON ÖZGÜR ÖZEL: “THERE IS NO POLITICAL COURTESY AND STATE SERIOUSNESS LEFT”
Özarslan, who directly targeted CHP Chairman Özgür Özel in his statement, argued that the current CHP administration has lost political courtesy, party morality and state seriousness. Özarslan specifically emphasized that his reaction was not to CHP voters, but to “the current management approach that engages in politics with the language of insult.”
“Mr. Özgür Özel and his close colleagues have no trace of homeland, family or the values we consider sacred.”
His statements were among the most striking parts of the statement.

BREAKING NEWS | Message from MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli to Özgür Özel: There is no by-election, during election time
Breaking news: MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made a statement at his party’s group meeting. Devlet Bahçeli, reacting to the US/Israeli attacks on Iran and Lebanon, noted that the World Peace Council should be established. Noting that Türkiye is ready to undertake responsibility for peace, Bahçeli also gave important messages regarding the goal of a Terror-Free Türkiye.
Breaking news… MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli spoke at his party’s group meeting. MHP leader Bahçeli said, “The losses of life in the air attack carried out by the Israeli army on Lebanon show that the zionist plans do not intend to leave Lebanese territory.” he said. Bahçeli also responded to Özgür Özel’s midterm election remarks. Bahçeli noted that there will be no by-elections and that the elections will be held on time.
Highlights from Bahçeli’s statements:
Trump’s statement that they accepted a 2-week ceasefire on the condition of opening Hormuz, but his declaration that the war objectives were achieved showed that the crisis was brought to the table. The silence of the guns is an intermediate phase. The guns fell silent temporarily, but the scores were not settled.
LEBANON REACTION TO ISRAEL
Israel violates Lebanon’s territorial integrity. While there is a temporary pause on the Iranian front, the Lebanese front is kept open. The losses of life in the air attack carried out by the Israeli army on Lebanon show that the Zionist groups do not intend to leave Lebanese territory.
“WORLD PEACE COUNCIL SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED”
The inconclusive talks in Islamabad have further strengthened the possibility that the conflicts in the region will evolve into global destruction. Just as uncontrolled and unstoppable power competition and ambition for armament cause bombs to explode in the Middle East today, it will also pave the way for greater destruction in the heart of Europe, the nodal points of Asia and the fragile basins of Africa tomorrow. Shaken by the global epidemic in 2020, humanity has been constantly thrown by the Ukraine-Russia war, the deterioration of trade security in the Red Sea and the Black Sea, the human tragedy in Gaza, the destruction in Lebanon, and the crises that broke out in Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia. In a world where India and Pakistan are facing each other on the Kashmir line, and where the Pakistan-Afghanistan tension has turned the lives of tens of thousands of people upside down in Pakistan today, it is a dangerous mistake to think that the fire will be limited to a single region. In such a period when the possibility of World War II is more pronounced, the immediate implementation of a World Peace Council mechanism, under the leadership of the United Nations Secretary-General Guterres, with the participation of the USA, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, Turkey and the European Union, is a historical obligation on behalf of humanity.
“Türkiye IS READY TO PUT IT UNDER THE STONE”
It is now inevitable for the manifestation of a new global will based on justice, balance and equity, not the ambivalent understandings that carry the word peace but actually expand the war. Türkiye is ready to take responsibility with the responsibility imposed by its history and the mission determined by its geography. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s maxim “Peace at home, peace in the world” will determine the route of every step we will take today, as it did yesterday, and the direction of all the roads we will walk.
