The late Alparslan Türkeş, Founding Chairman of MHP, known as the ‘Chief’ of the Turkish world, spent his entire 80-year life as a tireless defender of the cause of truth. Türkeş, who raised the awareness of Muslim Anatolian youth against the forces that wanted to distance Türkiye from its identity and erase Islam from Anatolian lands, always took a stand on the side of the nation.

A LIFE DEDICATED TO THE STATE

Türkeş, during his term as undersecretary of the prime ministry; He founded institutions and organizations such as the State Planning Organization, the State Statistics Institute and the Turkish Culture Research Institute. Türkeş protected the youth of Anatolia against the poisonous intellectual movements targeting the youth, especially after the 1960s. He was imprisoned for 4.5 years after the military coup on September 12, 1980. Türkeş died at the age of 80 as a result of a heart attack on April 4, 1997. There was a large attendance at the funeral ceremony held for Türkeş on April 8, 1997.

Türkeş’s body was buried in the mausoleum in Beşevler. MHP, Türkeş’s greatest legacy, continues its struggle today along the lines of its founding leader. In his message, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated that Türkeş was a man of struggle and said, “The torch lit by Mr. Türkeş will never go out, his timeless call will never be erased. The vision of a Terror-Free Turkey, which has received great social acceptance today, is the realization of the ideal of ‘Civil Peace’. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Leaders discussed Türkiye-Russia bilateral relations, regional and global issues. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül shared statistical figures regarding public order incidents with the public at the April 2026 Media Meeting held at AFAD Headquarters. MHP leader Bahçeli published a message on the 29th anniversary of the death of his party’s Founding Chairman Alparslan Türkeş.

Commemorating the deceased with mercy and respect, Bahçeli stated that Türkeş was a great idea, cause and statesman who institutionalized the idea of ​​Turkish nationalism and brought it to the masses, turned it into a political project and spread it to the four corners of the country and even beyond the borders.

Emphasizing that Türkeş, inspired by history, set his eyes on the horizon of the future, Bahçeli said, “He said, ‘I embraced the cause I was entrusted with. I walk without looking back, without hesitation, without paying attention to anything.’ With his words, he showed his determination to pass on the sacred trust of the great Turkish nation, which is carried from hand to hand, from generation to generation.” he said.

MHP Chairman Bahçeli emphasized that the late Türkeş described Turkish nationalism as the ideal of “loving the Turkish nation and elevating it” and that he spent his life serving this purpose.
