Karabakh victory extinguished 30-year fire
A REASON OF PRIDE FOR THE TURKISH WORLD
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the ceremony held in Baku on the occasion of November 8 Victory Day, the anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh Victory. Stating that the liberation of Karabakh is a great source of pride not only for Azerbaijan but also for the Turkish world, Erdoğan said that every step taken by the Azerbaijani army on the land of Karabakh, every drop of blood shed for the sake of independence and glory, was written in golden letters in the common history as a badge of honor in the history of the Turkish world. Emphasizing that this peace climate will continue to grow stronger, the highlights of Erdoğan’s speech were as follows:
Today, Azerbaijani soldiers are here, shoulder to shoulder, side by side with their military brothers from Türkiye. When we look at our soldiers, we can all see what the slogan of two states, one nation means. The banner of freedom, rising above the mixed blood of our martyrs, flies with glory, honor and pride all over Karabakh. Under the astute leadership of my brother Ilham, the Azerbaijani army saved Karabakh from occupation and extinguished this 30-year-old fire in our hearts. Hopefully, this climate of peace and trust will continue to grow stronger.

IT OPENED THE DOORS OF A NEW ERA
The Karabakh Victory opened the doors of a new era in our region. The Homeland War also changed the geopolitical balances in Asia and Europe. We neither hold grudges nor allow past pain to be repeated. Therefore, we see this victory not as an end, but as a milestone on the road to permanent peace in the Caucasus. We are extremely hopeful and optimistic about lasting peace. We appreciate the sincere efforts of my brother Ilham Aliyev to establish lasting peace. We are pleased to follow the courageous steps taken by Armenian Prime Minister Mr. Pashinyan in this direction. Hopefully, this magnificent victory will result in a permanent agreement that will strengthen peace and tranquility in the region with the constructive attitude of both leaders. As Türkiye, we will continue to do whatever we can in this regard.
BAKU-TIBILISI-KARS RAILWAY LINE
The relations between us are getting stronger every day with concrete and strategic projects. Now we are striving to take our cooperation even further and expand its scope. We hope that the new routes to be established in the Caucasus will increase transportation and energy transmission opportunities. We need to develop the East-West Central Corridor passing through the Caspian with investments for the benefit of all our brothers in the region. I believe that we will take further steps together with Azerbaijan, especially to use the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line in the most efficient way.

WE WILL PROVIDE EVERY KIND OF SUPPORT TO AZERBAIJAN
In addition to our bilateral cooperation with Can Azerbaijan, we also continue our unity and solidarity within the Organization of Turkish States. We held our 12th summit in Gabala in October, with the participation of all members of our family council at the highest level. I am pleased that the December 15 World Turkish Language Day decision, which I called for at the summit, has been implemented within UNESCO.
THE POSITION OF TRNC IN THE TURKISH WORLD
Hopefully, our solidarity with Azerbaijan will gain further momentum during the term presidency of the organization. I already wish Azerbaijan success in its work. I hope that the position of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus within the Turkish world will be strengthened with the unwavering support of Azerbaijan.
YAVUZ BÜLENT BAKİLER’S LONGING FOR KARABAKH
As you know, 45 days ago we bid farewell to a great poet of ours who was originally from Karabakh. The late Yavuz Bülent Bakiler expressed his longing for Karabakh with the following verses: “I can enter your land with flags. I long for Karabakh like black lovers. I can die for it. If one day everything ends without seeing Karabakh. I don’t want bands, big wreaths. Oh God, give some peace to my soul. A few handfuls of the blessed soil of Karabakh are recited on me. It’s enough if it sprinkles.”

GREAT EXCITEMENT IN BAKU
November 8, Victory Day, the anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the capital Baku. President Erdoğan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif watched the ceremony together.
SHERIFF: PEACE WAS ESTABLISHED THANKS TO ERDOĞAN
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan, like Azerbaijan and Türkiye, is in favor of peace, and said that it is “hopeful” to see the displaced Karabakh families return to their homes. Sharif said, “Mr. President (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan), this also shows your personal determination. Again, thanks to the leadership he has shown on the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, peace has been established in the region. This shows the strength of the ongoing feelings of brotherhood between our countries.”

ALİYEV: ERDOĞAN’S SUPPORT GAVE US STRENGTH
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the ceremony: “My dear brother Erdogan supported Azerbaijan from the first hours of the 2nd Karabakh War. His support gave us additional strength and morale. Erdogan supported Azerbaijan tremendously. Erdogan’s words ‘Azerbaijan is not alone’ was a message to the whole world. The Azerbaijani people will never forget this support.” Aliyev said, “60 thousand people now live in the liberated lands. I congratulate my people for this success. We lived these 5 years with pride. Karabakh is Azerbaijan.”
30 YEARS OF OCCUPATION HAS ENDED
The Azerbaijani army ended the 30-year occupation of Armenia with the 44-day operation it launched in 2020. Strategic regions in Nagorno-Karabakh were taken back one by one. The liberation of Shusha was the turning point of the war. With the ceasefire signed on November 10, Armenian forces withdrew from the region and Karabakh came under the control of Azerbaijan again.

THE PROGRAM STARTED WITH A MOMENT OF RESPECTION AND NATIONAL ANTHEMES
In the ceremony area, the national anthems of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Pakistan were read one after the other. After the moment of silence, the atmosphere appropriate to the meaning of Victory Day was reinforced.
THE PASSAGE OF THE TROOPS RECEIVED GREAT APPLAUSE
After the speeches of Erdogan, Aliyev and Shahbaz, a parade was held in which Turkish soldiers also took part. The passage of special troops received great applause. Then, warships and assault boats demonstrated their high combat readiness in the coastal waters of the Caspian Sea as part of the military parade. A flight demonstration of warplanes and helicopters was held with the participation of pilots from Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
COMMANDO BATTALION ALSO TAKES PART IN THE PASSAGE
In addition to Azerbaijani troops, the Presidential Guard Regiment Ceremonial Unit Commando Battalion also took part in the ceremony as a symbol of Türkiye’s support during the 2nd Karabakh War.

The safety of our children is a global responsibility – Last Minute News
Emine Erdoğan, wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the meeting titled “Protection of Children in Digital Environments: International Policy and Practice Sharing”, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the Office of the Special Representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General on Violence Against Children and UNICEF. Emphasizing that the risks faced by children have reached an alarming level, First Lady Erdoğan said the following in her speech:
ONLINE ABUSE: Children can access information and millions of resources in the digital world with a “click”. But unfortunately, in the same world, all kinds of abuse reach children at the same speed, that is, with a click. Studies show that globally, more than 300 million children are subjected to online abuse and harassment annually. The fact that the frequency of these cases drops to 1 every 10 seconds clearly reveals the extent of this ‘hidden epidemic’ that covers every country, every household and every school.

OBSTACLE DUE TO CENSORSHIP: Unfortunately, as adults, we have been pushed out of this world with the label of digital immigrants placed on us. Not only has our right to draw boundaries to the digital world, where children are declared native, been taken away from us, but unfortunately every step taken within this framework has been blocked with the allegation of censorship. Whenever parents voiced their concerns, they were accused of being behind the times. Today, we are paying the price of this limitlessness with the damages that occur in children’s spiritual, mental, cognitive, social and physical development.

INVITATION TO THE CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD: Up to 8.5 hours of screen time filled with social media and computer games means a digital vegetative state. The ‘Convention on Children’s Rights in the Digital World’ prepared by our Ministry of Family is an important call put forward on an international scale, aiming to protect, support and empower children in digital environments. On this occasion, I invite all stakeholders to sign this agreement. Let’s not forget that making the digital world safer for children is the joint responsibility of not only families but also public institutions, technology companies, international organizations and the media industry. It is a must, especially for technology companies, to be accountable and make child-friendly designs. Fortunately, there is a global awakening regarding age restrictions on social media.

WE NEED SOLID BORDERS
Erdoğan said, “If we are going to pull our children out of the eerie backstreets of the digital world and raise them as strong and conscious young people who will shoulder the future, we must do this by working hand in hand with parents. There are several formulas for this. The first of these is the reconstruction of the borders destroyed by digitalization. Because the basis of many problems that humanity cannot overcome in our age is the equation of limitlessness with freedom. While digitalization increases efficiency in many areas, from business processes to daily life, if the rope goes out of hand, our children’s lives will suddenly become digital.” “It can be invaded by nannies, digital friends, digital playgrounds, so we need solid boundaries,” he said.
FAMILY, OUR ONLY SHELTER
Emine Erdoğan said, “I am sure that every parent knows very well the dynamics of this job and where the boundaries should be drawn. Because parenting is the oldest profession in the world. Today, if a child wants to get up and go out alone in the middle of the night, would we allow him? Would we allow someone he does not know to take him by the hand? Or would we allow him to gamble, be exposed to perverted propaganda, or attempt something that would put his life at risk? Our common answer to all of these will, of course, be ‘No’. In that case, our children are in digital environments.” “Let’s draw safe boundaries for them, without forgetting that they may face the same dangers. Another solution that will make digital environments safe for children is strengthened family communication. So, let’s not give up on communicating face to face, heart to heart, and spending time together as a family. It is a fact that the family is our only shelter against the various storms of life today, as it was yesterday.”

Support for Minister Tekin from 314 NGOs in 81 Provinces
Following the attacks in schools in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, 314 non-governmental organizations from 81 provinces across Türkiye published a joint statement. In the text signed by national and local NGOs, the attacks were harshly condemned, while condolences were expressed to the students who lost their lives and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. In the statement, attention was also drawn to the recent discussions regarding the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. NGOs stated that some circles developed discourses targeting Minister Tekin after the events and argued that this was an “ideological orientation”.
VALUES ARE TARGETED
NGO representatives claimed in their statements that the emphasis on values in education was targeted. In the text, which draws attention to the importance of strengthening concepts such as justice, compassion and solidarity in schools within the scope of the Türkiye Century Education Model, it is stated that this approach is tried to be weakened. The statement also made the following evaluations regarding the source of the violent incidents:
1-Associating a murderer with Islam means attributing the murder to religion. This is against both reason, science and conscience. The attackers’ mental world is not about the Ramadan table; It has been shaped by the ideology of violence nurtured in the dark corners of social media.
2-The majority of Anatolian people are Muslims. Keeping Ramadan alive in the schools of this nation’s children; It is not an obligation, it is a registration of the free choice of this nation. It is the greatest demand of our people to deliver mercy, compassion and solidarity to the hearts of needy people in the heart of Maarif. As a matter of fact, it happened.
3-Dear Minister Yusuf Tekin is a faithful statesman who protects the values of this nation and tries to rebuild the national identity and spiritual heritage in education. The attack carried out through him was not only against the minister; It is an attack on the nation of 85 million people it represents. 4-Violence is not caused by religion; It feeds on atheism, lack of spirituality, family disintegration, and the vulnerability of generations who cannot be raised without screens. The solution is not to remove spiritual values and Ramadan activities in schools; Our aim is to strengthen the moral ground, strengthen family ties and save our youth from the clutches of digital games and social media violence culture.
5-Those who commit this opportunistic political abuse; We invite those who choose to sharpen their pencils on a day when they should be mourning to be held accountable before their conscience, our nation and history.
RESPONSIBILITY MUST BE CORRECTLY DEFINED
The text emphasized that individual crimes should not be generalized based on social values and stated, “Attributing the crime committed by a person to a belief or social group is dangerous both scientifically and socially.” NGOs stated that discussions on education policies should be handled with common sense and called for social sensitivities not to be exploited.
REQUESTS ARE ALSO LISTED
The joint statement also included calls to authorized institutions:
-Strengthening school security both physically and psychologically
-Taking more effective measures against violent digital platforms
-Dissemination of social policies that support family structure
-Increasing controls to protect children from harmful content

After the workers, the civil servants also revolted in the CHP Karşıyaka Municipality: 455 civil servants staged a 1-day work stoppage.
KENT A.Ş., affiliated with CHP Karşıyaka Municipality, who has been receiving their salaries irregularly for 5 years in Izmir. Workers had protested many times on the grounds that they had not received their salaries for months. This time, civil servants took action in Karşıyaka Municipality, where the salary crisis continues. 455 civil servants staged a 1-day work stoppage on the grounds that their receivables were not paid. Civil servants gathered in front of the town hall and tried to make their voices heard by chanting various slogans.

WE ARE CREDITORS SINCE 2024
Making a statement on behalf of the group, Birlik Yerli-Sen Chairman Reşat Bozat said that a work stoppage decision was taken after the civil servants in Karşıyaka Municipality were not paid their receivables. Stating that each civil servant in Karşıyaka Municipality will receive 150 thousand liras as part of the social balance compensation since 2024, Bozat said: “We are not watching an intransigence here, but a systematic labor destruction and lawlessness carried out by the Mayor of Karşıyaka. The era of civility is over in this institution. The administration of Karşıyaka Municipality has exceeded its limits by trying to turn the sweat of the workers into an appetizer on the table. The authorized union has been working for three months.” “The Mayor, who stalled the workers, wasted time and brought the process to a dead end, came to us with an offer to ‘reduce your vested rights’. This offer is not a negotiation, but an operation to bring the workers to their knees.”

COMING TO THE OFFICER’S RIGHT, THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE SAFE.
Emphasizing that unpaid retroactive receivables are the future of their children, not the municipal budget, Bozat said, “We will not allow those who cannot manage the municipality’s coffers to put the bill on the workers and civil servants. Those who find resources for advertising signs, ostentation, and partisan projects should not embrace the lie of ‘there is no money in the coffers’ when it comes to the rights of workers and civil servants. This is a matter of choice, and we see that your choice is in favor of exploitation, not of the workers.” he said.
