2 arrest requests in Bayrampaşa Municipality corruption investigation

There has been a new development regarding the operation in which Remzi Albayrak, Head of the Fire Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, was also detained by the Police of the Financial Crimes Department of the Istanbul Police Department. In the operation, which was stated to be carried out within the scope of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office’s investigation against Bayrampaşa Municipality, in addition to Remzi Albayrak, CHP Bayrampaşa District Administration Bekir Önder, Businessman İbrahim Amedi and driver Hakan Köse were also detained by the Istanbul Police Financial Crimes Fighting Branch Police. The suspects, whose legal procedures were completed at the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, were sent to the courthouse.

2 ARRESTS 2 REQUESTS FOR JUDICIAL CONTROL

Among the suspects whose prosecution statements were completed, CHP Bayrampaşa District Administrator Bekir Önder and businessman İbrahim Ahmedi were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty with a request to be arrested for the crime of “giving bribes”, and the other suspects, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department Head Remzi Albayrak and driver Hakan Köse, were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty with a request for judicial control in the form of a ban on traveling abroad for the crime of “taking bribes”.

DETAILS OF THE REFERRAL LETTER HAVE BEEN REACHED

In the referral letter prepared for Bekir Öner and İbrahim Amedi, it was noted that the statements of the tank and other suspects taken, the minutes prepared by the Bayrampaşa Development Directorate and the Police teams in the file, and the statements of the parties were evaluated together.

BRIBERY FOR THE RUGGED STRUCTURE OF THE HOTEL

It was stated in the referral letter that the suspects bribed the municipal authorities not to take action against them for the building they built on the rooftop of the Marnas Hotel in Bayrampaşa, which was contrary to the license and annexes.

Bilal Erdoğan, TIKA President Eren and former football player Mesut Özil visited the TIKA center located in the camp where Rohingya Muslim refugees live in the Cox’s Bazar region. Bilal Erdoğan and Eren met with the students here and toured the center.

The delegation visited the music class and TIKA Computer and Robotics Workshop in the center, distributed gifts to the children and took photos. In his speech here, Bilal Erdoğan gave the message that Türkiye will continue to contribute to the welfare of Rohingya Muslims.

Iftar with Arakanese Muslims

Bilal Erdoğan and Eren had the first iftar of Ramadan with a Rohingya Muslim family.

The delegation broke their fast at the house of Muhammed Ayub, one of TİKA’s development ambassadors, in Cox’s Bazar. Ayub carried his parents in two baskets for 15 days to save them from attacks in Myanmar’s Rakhine state and took refuge in Bangladesh.

Bilal Erdoğan and Eren left Dhaka to come to Türkiye after their program in Bangladesh ended.

Providing information about the activities within the scope of NATO task groups, Aktürk stated that some allied elements will visit Aksaz within the scope of the NATO Standing Mine Countermeasures Maritime Task Group-2 mission, and the Elbe ship of the German Navy will make a port visit to Istanbul within the scope of the NATO Standing Maritime Task Group-2 mission. Referring to the activities carried out by NATO Allied Air Command, Aktürk said, “Our TB-3 S/UAV deployed in TCG Anadolu in the Baltic Sea is participating in the flexible deterrence options activity, which is being carried out within the scope of increased vigilance activities, today and tomorrow (19-20 February). In this activity, TCG Anadolu is also navigating in coordination with our UAV.”

Aktürk also stated that Türkiye supported the search and rescue efforts for the Senegalese Naval Forces boat that sank in the Senegal River on February 12 and said, “Based on the request of the Senegal authorities, support was provided with our maritime patrol aircraft on February 12-13. Our maritime patrol aircraft in Senegal have made 41 flights to date.”

Aktürk stated that within the scope of the Eurofighter Typhoon procurement project, he will pay a working visit to the United Kingdom Coningsby Air Base Command between 24-27 February for the initial training of flight and ground class personnel.

The statement said, “We are against this unlawful activity, which is attempted to be carried out in violation of the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Jurisdiction Areas between Libya and our country and the maritime jurisdictions declared by Libya to the United Nations on May 27, 2025. We continue to provide the necessary support for the Libyan authorities to take initiatives against these unilateral and unlawful activities of Greece.”
