Governor Gül announced safety data for January
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced the January safety data at the press conference held at the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate. At the meeting, Deputy Governor Dr. MH Nail Anlar, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Lieutenant General Yusuf Kenan Topcu, Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız and Coast Guard Marmara and Straits Regional Commander Rear Admiral Serkan Tezel were also present.
‘SHOOTING INCIDENTS DECREASED BY 70 PERCENT COMPARED TO THE SAME PERIOD OF THE LAST YEAR’
Stating that the shooting incidents decreased by 70 percent compared to the same period last year, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül said, “In January of this year, the number of operations against terrorist organizations increased by 42 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. 419 people were caught, 74 of them were arrested. Judicial control measures were applied to 89 of them. Crimes committed against people such as intentional murder, deprivation of liberty, disturbing peace and tranquility, threats, etc. decreased by 6 percent. Almost no incident remains unsolved.” When we look at the crimes committed against property, we see that the number of incidents has decreased by 17 percent. In particular, there is a significant decrease in car theft, pickpocketing and extortion. Another topic is unlicensed weapons. Because unlicensed weapons are the basis for crime. In this field, where we fight determinedly, 1,156 weapons were seized and 1,394 people were caught compared to the same month last year. The main reason for the decrease in the number of weapons and people caught is that carrying an unlicensed weapon is no longer a simple misdemeanor but has become a crime punishable by imprisonment. In January alone, 406 social media accounts used by criminal gangs as a means of recruitment and propaganda were closed by 70 percent compared to the same period last year. I am underlining this through you: These criminal organizations will never escape from the state and justice,” he said.
‘PERSONS AND ACCOUNTS WITH CRIMINAL ELEMENTS DETECTED ARE BEING EXAMINED’
Governor Gül said, “Another topic of ours is the fight against unjust and illegal gain, smuggling. As a result of the successful work of our security forces, the tax loss prevented in the first month of this year increased by 33 percent compared to the same month last year. We see that the strict inspections of our relevant institutions, especially on counterfeit alcohol, are reflected in the figures, and the amount seized in fuel, another type of smuggling, has increased fourfold. One of our most important topics is drugs and substance addiction. A comprehensive struggle to dry this swamp that targets all humanity, young people and darkens our future.” We are carrying out operations not only to destroy the supply side to protect our city and our citizens from this disease, but also to eliminate the demand side. Another topic is cyber crimes. The limit of our peace and security against crime and criminals is not just the streets and streets. This border also includes the cyber world, which we call the digital homeland. Our Cyber Security Teams follow the footsteps of criminals step by step in this world, using all the possibilities of technology. Persons and accounts are being examined. Especially our children are protected against the manipulations and violence of the online world. The population of Istanbul is approximately 20 percent of Türkiye’s population. When we look at the area, Istanbul is less than 1 percent of Türkiye. This arithmetic shows us that the most important way to manage such a large density is to comply with the rules without exception. 58 of them were motorcycle and moped accidents. We are not indifferent to this situation. We continue to increase our controls and sanctions on motorcycles. It is no longer possible to hide or live illegally in Istanbul. Thanks to the Mobile Migration Point tools, which are the project of our Ministry of Internal Affairs, our door is always open to those who are illegal, those who disrupt the order.

Confusion in CHP – Last Minute News
The bill, prepared by CHP Deputy Tuncay Özkan and submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly with the seal of approval by the CHP Group Presidency, caused great surprise. It was seen that the bill, which was stated to be prepared for the protection of children and young people in digital media, was diametrically opposed to the policies that the party has defended to date. The fact that the CHP group presented the issues that it had described as ‘censorship’ and criticized the government for years as legislative proposals was another manifestation of the inconsistency within the party. In the bill in the Digital Mediums Commission; It was requested that all digital content be categorized as +6, +12, +16, +18, and age appropriateness and time limit mechanisms be put into effect. In this regard, it is recommended that children under the age of 16 should not spend more than 55 minutes on digital media.
REACTIONS ARE GROWING
The presentation of the bill prepared by Tuncay Özkan to the Parliament created confusion in the CHP. It is claimed that after the details of the content of the proposal emerged, reactions among the party staff increased and there were even those who wanted administrative action to be taken against Özkan. It was stated that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was also disturbed and that he could hold a meeting with the party group regarding this crisis in a short time.

Keçiören earthquake in CHP: ‘Özel insulted me’
The Keçiören crisis in CHP reached its peak last night with Mayor Mesut Özarslan’s resignation statement that shook the agenda. Stating that he has been subjected to systematic smear campaigns by some cliques within the party due to his various visits recently, Özarslan emphasized that the rumors in question intensified even more after his meeting with the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum on January 6. Underlining that they met with the Institution on the problems of Keçiören, Özarslan also criticized CHP Chairman Özgür Özel with harsh words. Noting that Özel sent a message to him at 23.59 on the night of February 7, Özarslan said, “Would a chairman swear at the mayor? Would a chairman target and insult family values? Would a chairman threaten with unspeakable words? It is out of the question for me to serve in the ranks of the CHP anymore, especially in the face of messages that include my family values and my sacred existence, my mother and my late father.” Noting that it is not possible to work healthily in an environment dominated by the tone in the messages, Özarslan said, “In this context, I am resigning from my CHP membership. At this point, unfortunately, Özgür Özel and his close colleagues have nothing left, neither the path of God, the homeland, the family, nor the values we consider sacred, and all sanctities have been destroyed.” Özarslan continued his statement with the statement, “I am also calling out to my friends with whom I walked the road,” and said: “The cause is a cause of humanity. I invite them to save themselves from this structure, which has moved away from its founding codes and is managed in an immoral manner, not to take part in the immorality committed against me, and to show their reactions. What was done to me and my family today should not be forgotten; if there is no reaction, one day it will be done to them too.”
