Soup kitchen scandal in Tepebaşı Municipality: They closed the session when they heard the facts
The repercussions of the ‘corruption’ operation carried out by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, which resulted in the arrest of 25 suspects, including 2 deputy mayors and the chief of staff, continue. At the last session of the Tepebaşı Municipality Council, arrests and serious allegations that the food of the needy people in the soup kitchen were sold to wedding halls and invoiced to the municipality caused tense moments.

AK Party Tepebaşı Council Member Ali Semih Ünlü came to the parliamentary podium with an empty, white bowl symbolizing those in need and the trust of philanthropists. Ünlü harshly criticized CHP’s Tepebaşı Mayor’s statements regarding the arrests, saying “I couldn’t understand why they were arrested”, and accused the municipal administration of not being transparent.
Ünlü made the following statements in his speech from the parliamentary rostrum:
“If soup kitchens, direct procurement files, forged signatures, shell companies and public damage are discussed in a municipality, the management of that municipality must be held accountable. You say that the investigation has been going on for 1.5 years, so why did you not initiate an administrative investigation? If the allegations are true, the poor’s bowls have been emptied and the shell companies’ coffers have been filled. Allegations that the meals cooked in the soup kitchen were sent to wedding halls and then invoiced to the municipality have injured the conscience of this city. No one can escape administrative and political responsibility by hiding behind the legal process.”
In his speech, Ünlü also reminded former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s words: “I apologize for not being able to remove from this party the mayors who covet the rights of orphans in the people’s municipality and are involved in bribery and plunder.” He demanded that soup kitchen donations, invoicing processes and direct procurement files be opened to independent audit and that an investigation commission be established within the parliament.
INSTEAD OF ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS, THEY IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE COUNCIL.
However, these concrete and critical questions posed by the opposition in order to defend public rights were left unanswered by the CHP administration. AK Party Eskişehir Provincial Chairman Gürhan Albayrak, in his statement on the issue, stated that instead of producing a response on a democratic basis, the session was actually stopped and the parliament was summarily closed.
Mayor Albayrak expressed his reaction by saying, “It is unacceptable to prevent the speech of the council members elected by the votes of the nation and not to respond to the scandals in the soup kitchen. Those who could not remain calm in the face of questions preferred tension by acting with the psychology of guilt instead of transparency and accountability. This process cannot be managed by leaving the questions asked on behalf of the people of Tepebaşı unanswered. The truth will come out sooner or later.”
‘NOT SABOTATING THE ASSEMBLY’ INSTRUCTIONS VIA WHATSAPP MESSAGE!
The dimensions of the scandal were not limited to the closure of the parliament. It was claimed that the CHP administration brought organized groups to the parliament hall in order to prevent the speech of the parliament members and to suppress the opposition.
In the deciphered messages sent to WhatsApp groups of CHP neighborhood officials, it was seen that the following statements were included: “It is of great importance that we be together with at least 100 people in the council hall at 16.00 tomorrow. We request everyone to communicate one-on-one in their own neighborhood and invite the maximum number of people.”
It was learned that the people brought to the hall in line with this instruction sabotaged the parliamentary work by booing and rioting while the AK Party council members were voicing their legitimate questions.
In Tepebaşı, where two deputy mayors of the municipal administration are detained and allegations of corruption in a sensitive unit such as a soup kitchen are flying; The fact that the CHP administration cannot make a single concrete statement regarding neither the allegations, the arrests nor the inspection reports is considered as an escape from responsibility. In the political lobbies and in the public, calls for the hands that have reached out to the people’s trust to be held accountable and for the municipality to be removed from the shadow of luxury villas and dubious wealth schemes are growing day by day.
The allegations that nearly 200 extras were brought to the badge-wearing ceremony attended by CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in Istanbul and that the hall was filled in this way were denied, accompanied by harsh criticism, from CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Gürsel Tekin and former CHP General Secretary Mehmet Sevigen. Gürsel Tekin, who held a press conference, said: “They did something that the devil would never think of.

Tekin also showed the 3.5 million lira invoice that Özel and his team allegedly issued to BirGün Newspaper. Speaking to SABAH, former CHP General Secretary Mehmet Sevigen said, “I was there too. They tell stories. Don’t we have the power to find 200-300 people and give money to casting agencies? If we had such a problem, we would immediately bring 10 thousand men from the provinces and districts. 2 NAMES WERE CANDIDATES FOR GROUP PRESIDENT
At the meeting, Tekirdağ Deputy Faik Öztrak and Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol competed as candidates for the CHP Group Chairmanship.
While the candidates could not obtain an absolute majority to be elected in the first two rounds of voting, it was later learned that Erol withdrew his candidacy. In the third round of voting, Öztrak was elected as CHP Group Chairman.
RACE WITH 6 CANDIDATES FOR GROUP VICE CHAIRMAN
At the CHP closed Turkish Grand National Assembly Group Meeting, following the Group Presidency vote, a vote was taken for the two group deputy chairpersonships.
Balıkesir Deputy Serkan Sarı, İzmir Deputy Rahmi Aşın Türeli, Ordu Deputy Mustafa Adıgüzel, Kars Deputy İnan Akgün Alp, Kütahya Deputy Ali Fazıl Kasap and İzmir Deputy Sevda Erdan Kılıç participated in the election.
As a result of the voting, İzmir MPs Sevda Erdan Kılıç and Rahmi Aşın Türeli were elected as CHP Group Deputy Chairmen.

Minister Çiftçi, who also shared the data regarding the incidents in which firearms were used by motorcycle, said:
“In the period between January 1 and July 16 of last year, there were 165 incidents in which a firearm was used on a motorcycle. In the same period of this year, the number of incidents decreased to 46. Thus, a decrease in these incidents was achieved.”
Çiftçi stated that when the same periods are compared, the number of people who lost their lives in the incidents decreased from 17 to 9, and the number of those injured decreased from 81 to 15.
Stating that the results obtained show the reward of the determined struggle carried out by the security units on the field, Çiftçi concluded his words as follows:
“Each incident is a serious security issue that we must focus on with the same sensitivity. Our goal is not only to reduce the number of incidents, but also to completely eliminate the action capacity of armed criminal organizations. We will not allow those who threaten Türkiye’s security, regardless of the tools and methods they use.”
