Shame in the heart of Europe: Srebrenica – Breaking News
The greatest human tragedy experienced in Europe after the Second World War. It is the 31st anniversary of the genocide committed by Serbian troops in Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995. On the 31st anniversary of the genocide, known as a human tragedy, 10 more genocide victims, who were identified and approved by their families, were buried in Potocari Memorial Cemetery after the funeral prayer and commemoration program. The youngest victim was Senad Jusic, who was 20 years old when he was killed, and the oldest victim was Ramo Dautovic, who was 56 years old when he was murdered. High-level government officials, ambassadors, guests and relatives of the genocide victims from many countries, especially Türkiye, attended the commemoration ceremony.
Yugoslavia disintegrated after civil wars between 1986 and 1992. Then, in 1992, Bosnia and Herzegovina declared its independence with a referendum held under the leadership of Alija Izetbegovic. The independence decision was accepted by the USA, Western countries and the UN. However, this did not prevent the genocide. In July 1995, Serbian forces targeted the city in agreement with Dutch United Nations forces in Srebrenica. After the occupation of Srebrenica by Serb troops under the command of Ratko Mladic on July 11, 1995, civilian Bosnians took shelter with Dutch soldiers under the United Nations (UN) and were later handed over to the Serbs.
IN FRONT OF THE UN’S EYES
When the Serbs entered Srebrenica, one of the most painful events in human history took place. All men of military age in the city were put on a bus and taken to be shot. Serbs systematically murdered at least 8,372 Bosnian men in forest areas, factories and warehouses. Then they started killing everyone they came across, young, old, male and female. The murdered Bosnians were buried in mass graves. Peacekeepers in what the UN declared a “safe zone” did nothing while the violence continued around them. The war in Bosnia caused increased pressure in the world public opinion after this incident, and a ceasefire was declared in the same year.
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE MISSING
During the efforts initiated to find the missing after the war, the victims whose bodies were found in mass graves are buried in a ceremony held at Potocari Memorial Cemetery every year on July 11, after identification. While 6 thousand 772 victims have been buried in Potocari Memorial Cemetery so far, 250 victims have been buried in local cemeteries upon the request of their families. After the ceremony held yesterday, the number of victims buried in the monumental cemetery increased to 6 thousand 782. There are more than 1000 people who lost their lives in the Srebrenica Genocide and whose bodies have not been found.
ERDOĞAN: WE WILL NEVER FORGET
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş and many politicians attended the commemoration program organized on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the genocide. Göktaş read President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s message at the program held at the old battery factory used as a base by United Nations soldiers in Srebrenica. Erdoğan’s message included the following statements: In accordance with the warning of the late President Alija Izetbegovic, ‘Whatever you do, but do not forget the genocide, because the forgotten genocide will be repeated’, we are making efforts on every ground to raise awareness about the Srebrenica Genocide. However, the brutality in Gaza that claimed the lives of 73 thousand innocent people, mostly children and women, unfortunately shows that the international community has not yet learned the necessary lessons from Srebrenica. We will continue our persistent work with the motto ‘The world is bigger than 5’ for a more just world and a more responsible international society where no criminal will dare to target civilians.
‘THE PURPOSE IS TO KEEP CONSCIENCES SURVIVE’
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan commemorated those who lost their lives in the Srebrenica Genocide. In his post on his social media account, President Erdoğan said, “On the 31st anniversary of Srebrenica, one of the most brutal genocides in history, I commemorate all our Bosnian brothers who were murdered with mercy and sadness. I remember the cherished memories of our martyrs with respect and pray for patience for their families and relatives. We will never forget Srebrenica.” First Lady Erdoğan said, “Commemorating Srebrenica is not just mourning, but also keeping the conscience alive so that humanity will not be dragged into the same darkness again.”
THE MEMORY OF THE GENOCIDE LIVES IN THIS MUSEUM
The belongings, stories and memories of the victims are kept alive in the old factory, the symbolic place of the Srebrenica Genocide, which was converted into a museum with the support of Türkiye. The museum, which was established within the scope of the project jointly carried out by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Srebrenica Memorial Center, contains the belongings of the genocide victims. Personal belongings of the victims, testimonies and visual materials tell visitors about the days when the genocide took place.
‘COMMON PAIN OF HUMAN Dignity’
Many names such as Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş and AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik published a commemorative message on social media for the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide. Yılmaz said, “On the anniversary of the genocide that took place in Srebrenica, which left a dark stain on human history, I commemorate our murdered Bosnian brothers with mercy and wholeheartedly share the pain of the friendly and brotherly people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. May their souls rest in peace and rest in peace.”
While Kurtulmuş shared his statement, “Srebrenica is the common pain of not only Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also of everyone who defends justice, mercy and human dignity,” Çelik said, “We will never let this genocide be forgotten.” In the post made by the Ministry of National Defense (MSB), it was said: “We commemorate the martyrs of Srebrenica, who were etched as a black stain in the history of humanity, who were massacred and committed genocide by murderers in the middle of Europe, and we wholeheartedly share the pain of our Bosnian brothers.”
PUNISHMENTS DID NOT ELIMINATE THE PAIN
In its decision in 2007, the International Court of Justice in The Hague described what happened in Srebrenica and its surroundings as “genocide”, in line with the evidence from the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Serbian commander Ratko Mladic was sentenced to life imprisonment in the case heard at the ICTY for many crimes, including the Srebrenica genocide. In its decision in 2016, the same court sentenced Radovan Karadzic, the former leader of the Bosnian Serbs during the war, to 40 years in prison for 10 separate crimes, including the Srebrenica genocide. To date, 45 Serbs have been sentenced to a total of 699 years in prison in the “Srebrenica” cases heard in different courts. On the other hand, former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic was also accused of genocide in Srebrenica, but died in prison while his trial was ongoing. However, despite the past 31 years, the penalties imposed on Serbian officials held responsible for the deaths of thousands of Bosnian civilians have not alleviated the pain of the families who lost their loved ones.

The memory of my martyr lives in this house
The family of Deputy Commissioner Gülşah Güler, who was martyred in the bomb attack on Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Department during the July 15 coup attempt, keeps the memory of their child alive as it was the first day, despite the passage of 10 years. The martyr’s father, Hüseyin Güler, and his mother, Emine Güler, who live in Kırıkhan district of Hatay, opened the doors of the memorial house they built with great effort for the daughters of the martyrs to SABAH for the first time. Stating that their pain has never subsided, but that it is a great pride for them that their son was martyred for the sake of the country, the Güler couple said, “We satisfy our longing for our daughter with her memories.”
‘OUR PAIN IS LIKE THE FIRST DAY’
Father Hüseyin Güler said, “It is very difficult not to hear the voice of a child or see his face for 10 years. But God gave us the blessing to be the parents of martyrs. Our child was martyred for the country. Our pain is as fresh as the first day, but we carry great pride with it. We are pleased with our state and our nation. One Gülşah is gone, but thousands of Gülşahs have grown up.”
‘His phone has been ON for 10 years’
Baba Güler said, “She was my dark daughter. I loved her like that. She was very fond of me, too. My Gülşah was martyred, but I still feel like she will call me one day. We built a memorial house for Gülşah on the upper floor of our house to relieve our longing for our daughter. We preserve her room and her belongings as we left them. If someone who doesn’t know this place comes, they would think that Gülşah still lives in this house. We try to keep even the smallest memory of her alive. Our children are after us. “He will continue the trust,” he said.
‘MY DAUGHTER COMES INTO MY DREAMS’
Mother Emine Güler stated that she often sees her daughter in her dreams and said, “In my dreams, she tells me ‘Mom, don’t be sad’ and lifts me up for prayer. This is what gives me patience. Gülşah was my everything. We loved her as our ‘dark daughter’. She was the joy of our home. Thank God, she became a special operations officer, but her goal was to become the head of the department. For this, she worked day and night, doing a master’s degree. Her dreams were left unfinished.”
HIS NECCHEES KEEP HIS NAME ALIVE
Brother Reşit Güler named his daughter, who was born 5 months after Gülşah’s martyrdom, after his aunt Gülşah. Gülşah Güler’s sister Büşra Güler, who later got married, named her first child after her older sister Gülşah after getting married in 2020. Martyr’s mother Emine Güler said, “My grandchildren took the name of their martyr aunt. My Gülşah’s name will always live on.”
‘THE HOMELAND STANDS THANKS TO THE MARTYRS’
The parents of the martyrs stated that July 15 should not be forgotten and said, “This country survives thanks to the martyrs. May God not let this nation experience such a betrayal again.”

Bribery operation against Çankaya Municipality – Last Minute News
An operation was carried out against Çankaya Municipality within the scope of the investigation carried out by Ankara Provincial Police Department Financial Crimes Branch Directorate teams under the coordination of Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Within the scope of the investigation, detention orders were issued for a total of 36 suspects, including Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, on charges of “establishing a criminal organization”, “being a member of a criminal organization”, “taking bribes”, “giving bribes” and “tender rigging”.
Hüseyin Can Güner, who was abroad and returned home yesterday evening, was detained at Esenboğa Airport. While 30 of the suspects were detained, search and seizure procedures were initiated at the suspects’ addresses.
TENDER TRAFFIC HAS BEEN ON THE AGENDA
The operation brought to mind the tender traffic in CHP municipalities. The encrypted correspondence between Turgut Koç, who was arrested within the scope of a prostitution and drug investigation and known as the “Second Saint İhsan” of the CHP, and Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner came to the fore.
In the encrypted messages, it was seen that Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner sent a message to Turgut Koç, a detained businessman and a relative of CHP member Veli Ağbaba, “125,132,625.68… Including the last 20 transactions. All of them have been closed. There is no one left behind.” It was claimed that money traffic between the two was discussed in these messages.
Turgut Koç replied to this message, “Delete it, okay. But this is not the total, I will check it as far as I know.” Mayor Güner said, “I have Excel, should I throw it away?” He asked the question and the answer was “It’s okay, it’ll be fine”.
THEY RESPONDED TO LIE
Known as a lawyer, Güner was among the names that took part in the legal processes of former CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. Güner, known for his closeness to Özel within the party, was nominated by Özel as the Çankaya Mayor candidate before the 31 March 2024 Local Government Elections. Güner, who took the Judge and Prosecutor exam twice, failed in the first one, and was eliminated in the second one because he was a member of a political party. By resorting to the politics of lies to cover up particular failure; He claimed that Güner was eliminated from the exam because he was an Alevi. It was noteworthy that Güner was unaware of the legislation even though he was a lawyer. In addition, Güner, who follows the affairs of Özel and Ağbaba but does not officially practice as their lawyer, is also known for his participation in the organizations during the Gezi uprising.
THEY SAID THEIR SUBJECT TO THE PAYABLE PAYERS
After Özgür Özel’s statements about those who did paid military service during the election campaign, “We want votes from those who love Türkiye, not from those who dodge paid military service”, Güner’s paid military service in the İskenderun Marine Training Regiment became a hot topic.

BREAKING NEWS… Statement on drug operation from Minister of Internal Affairs Çiftçi: We do not discriminate between vowels and consonants
1.5 MILLION SYRIANS RETURNED TO THEIR COUNTRY
The number of Syrians under temporary protection is 2 million 245 thousand people. 1.5 million people returned to their country. Thousands of people go every day. It never reached the 7 million figures. Those numbers were exaggerations. They are not asked to go any further at this time. For example, Afghans meet the need for shepherds. Syrians work in places where our people do not want to work. There are those who want precautions to be taken to prevent them from going.
We are also reviewing immigration policies. There are high rates of crime involving foreigners. We were following them every month. The crime rate involving foreigners is between 1 and 2 percent. When they get involved in crime, they are deported.
FIGHT AGAINST DRUGS: WE WILL DRY THE SWAMP
Drugs have shifted mainly to pills. The drug pills we seized this year approached 80 million. I say it as a custom. We want this supply to be prevented from being cut off. Our operation is aimed at these. We are constantly organizing operations. We have carried out 660 thousand operations against drugs in the last 10 years. To block the supply. The request must be prevented. We will drain the swamp. The issue of survival is the fight against drugs. Drugs provide financing for terrorist organizations and darken our future. We are determined on this issue. We will do our part to the end. We also want support from families on this issue. The demand is high because the pill is cheap and easy to access. Families should control their children and monitor who they are friends with.
CLEAR MESSAGE: WE DO NOT DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN CELEBRITIES AND CONSONANTS
The operation is aimed at all segments of society. There are also celebrities among them. We do not distinguish between vowels and consonants. We operate for everyone. One third of those in prison are due to drugs. 854 thousand people were detained. This is an important issue that cannot be ignored. We carry out it with determination, quietly and deeply.
Society must strive to win this fight. Families also have a responsibility. It is also necessary to mention the European drug report. It’s a matter for the whole world. There are 21 European countries and Türkiye. 8 European countries do not share their figures. They also gave figures per million population. Türkiye ranks 18th.
It is important to prevent supply and demand. The supply point has been significantly suppressed. Türkiye is no longer a target country. Syria’s figure is exactly 10 times ours.
“CYBER CRIME, THE RESULTS ARE REAL”
Fraud has shifted to cybercrime. We call it online betting, the drug has shifted to the cyberspace. Cyberspace has also become one of the issues we need to give importance to. We need to continue this struggle in the cyber homeland as well. We carried out 138 thousand cyber operations. With the spread of the Internet, the emphasis has shifted to the cyber field. They use Telegram and organize on it. You need to pay attention to all of them. We blocked access to 30 thousand web pages. 45 thousand illegal online betting sites are among those blocked. We are evaluating it together with the Ministry of Justice. If the calculation at home does not match the market, it is necessary to make calculations according to the market.
“THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT DECLINE IN CRIMES”
With the increase in traffic fines, there have been significant decreases in some crimes. The target for traffic fatalities is to decrease by 50 percent in 2030. Our 2050 vision is zero loss of life in traffic. We increased inspections by 10 percent. There is a crime called scissors throwing. It decreased by 93 percent. This is a significant decrease. Penalties and sanctions have increased and it is starting to hurt people. He should not stop if he wants. If they are willing to risk that much punishment, they may not stop. Mobile phone use has dropped by 28 percent. There is a decrease in all traffic crimes for which penalties are increased. Our citizens continue to cross the red line. The decrease in red light crossing is 4 percent. We ran campaigns to prioritize pedestrians. Pedestrians are not given priority at pedestrian crossings. When a pedestrian steps on the road, vehicles must stop.
One in every two accidents involves a motorcycle. Of the 35 million vehicles in Türkiye, 7 million are motorcycles. When 112 is called, ambulance medical teams always go to the hospital if there are injured people in a traffic accident. They are examining it. They determine the cause. Our state’s purpose in increasing traffic fines is not to generate income for the treasury. It’s about protecting human life. We have goals. To reduce deaths caused by traffic accidents. Our goal is to protect human life. Not to punish. What we call traffic culture is to provide it.
“91 PERCENT OF STRANGE ANIMALS WERE COLLECTED”
Stray animals are also one of the important issues. As of now, 91 percent of stray animals have been collected. He was taken to shelters. We will remove this issue from Türkiye’s agenda. They are fed and cared for in shelters. If anyone wants it, they can adopt it. We are now saving animals from the mercy of the street. Animal welfare is ensured.”
