DEM Party holds talks with CHP leader as part of renewed tour

The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) on March 10 met with main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel as part of a new round of talks with political parties to garner support for advancing the resolution process aimed at permanently eradicating terrorism and dismantling PKK.

The delegation, spearheaded by DEM Party leaders Tuncer Bakırhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları, held discussions with Özel at the CHP headquarters.
Prior to this, the DEM Party also paid a visit to the Labor Party (EMEP).
In a joint press conference following the meeting, Hatimoğulları stressed the importance of the positive messages from the opposition.
“We highly value and thank the messages conveyed by opposition parties, particularly the CHP, in contributing to the socialization of peace,” she said.
“The commencement of a process of non-conflict is crucial. The steps to be taken within the parliamentary framework, and the commencement of the legal process in this context, are of great significance. The state and the ruling power bear significant responsibilities,” Hatimoğulları said.
Özel, for his part, stated that CHP has never denied the existence of the Kurdish issue, and the party always adopts a constructive stance.

“We are committed to a transparent, sincere process in the parliament that will establish societal consensus.”
Ahead of the meeting, the CHP leader provided remarks to daily Cumhuriyet, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach to the issue.
“If a resolution is to be pursued within the parliamentary framework, it must encompass the voices of martyr families and veterans’ associations. Any initiative undertaken without securing their consent would be fundamentally flawed. We stand in favor of parliamentary negotiations premised on broad societal consensus,” Özel stated.
“However, we categorically oppose transactional bargaining, particularly those entailing constitutional amendments,” he asserted.
On March 17, the DEM Party delegation is slated to engage with the partners of the ruling People’s Alliance.
The alliance is composed of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
The DEM Party’s tour came after a unilateral ceasefire announced by the PKK on March 1 in line with the historic call by its jailed leader Abdullah Öcalan for the disbandment of the terror organization.

The co-chairpersons, however, underlined that there are so many issues to be fixed for the implementation of the process, including democratic and legal measures, as well as the status of Öcalan.
The commission established for the Turkish process without terrorism, which was initiated to get rid of Türkiye’s 41 -year scourge for 41 years, gathered in the ceremony hall in the Assembly. Equipped with red -eyed flowers on one side of the two long tables in the hall, the new road, on the other side of the MHP, CHP, Dem representatives of parties and groups of parties sat.

It should be known that the process of release of arms we have witnessed is never the result of a bargaining. It is the result of our nation’s determination to peace and unity and is a reflection of it. The functions of the commission should be transparency, openness and pluralism. Because these lands are meaningful not in one color, but with very sound, very culture. The Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood is the essential code of our geography. Common pain, common hope, we are at a point that will shape the future, “he said.
Its name has been announced
The name of the commission formed for the Turkish process without terrorism became the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission. At the meeting, the work procedures and principles of the commission were unanimously accepted. The commission will continue until 31 December 2025. The time can be extended if necessary. 5/3 of the total number of members will be searched in preparations for the law proposal. In other decisions, the number of decisions will be sought.

Two ministers and myth presidents are coming
The commission will hold its second meeting on Friday, August 8th. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, National Defense Minister Yasar Guler and MIT President Ibrahim Kalin will attend the meeting.
According to the appointment decisions published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Erdoğan, to be valid from 30 August 2025; 32 generals and admirals were promoted to a higher rank and 61 colonel were promoted to general and admiral. 29 generals’ term of office was extended for 1 year and 478 colonel’s term of office was extended for 2 years. 2 generals were retired due to the age limits of September 1, 2025 and 43 generals and admiral staff.
Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu was appointed as the Chief of General Staff
Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gürak was referred to the retirement due to the lack of staff, instead of the Land Forces Commander Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu was appointed. The Land Forces Command was brought to the 1st Army Commander Gen. Metin Tokel. Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and Air Force Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu’s term of office was extended for 1 year. The number of generals and admirals, which is 316, will increase to 332 as of 30 August 2025.

The Supreme Military Council gathered today at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of President Erdoğan.

In Lenkeran, Azerbaijan, the 4th “Live” camp, organized jointly by the “Live” Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and “Asan Volunteers” Organization, was completed. In the last week of the camp, which started on July 27, 18 martyrs from Türkiye met with his Azerbaijani brothers. More than 500 martyrs participated in the 7 camps this year.
Children from Türkiye not only accumulated fun memories during the camp; At the same time, they met with experts in their fields and participated in educational activities and carried out social trips with Azerbaijani peers. Duru Erdoğan, Aytuğ Enes Dökmeci, Muhammet Anar, Eşgin Alasgarov and Raşide Hüseyinzade, one of the camp participants, expressed that this camp, which strengthens the bonds of brotherhood, is an unforgettable experience for them.
