Last minute | President Erdoğan: We are one of the countries that build the most warships at the same time
Breaking news! Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “We are in the middle of an extremely chaotic period where those who are not strong on the field cannot find a place for themselves at the table or even find themselves on the menu. Turkey is one of the countries that noticed the spirit of this new era very early and read it most accurately.” he said.
President Erdoğan greeted the representatives of the defense industry and shipping sector and the guests in his speech at the “Delivery of the Offshore Patrol Ship CAm. Roman to the Romanian Naval Forces Command and the Commissioning and Flag Raising Ceremony of the Turkish Naval Forces Command Platforms” at the Istanbul Shipyard Command.
Stating that he was pleased to host Romanian President Nicusor Dan and the Romanian delegation in Türkiye, and that they came together in Istanbul, which he described as the apple of the world’s eye, to witness a new sign of maritime, engineering and Turkish-Romanian friendship, Erdoğan said, “With our ceremony with the participation of the President, we are taking the Turkish-Romanian friendship, which has come from history, one step further. While delivering the Romanian corvette to the Romanian Naval Forces, CAm. Koçhisar Open Sea “We are proud to add our Patrol Ship to the inventory. I hope that these two sister ships, which come from the same machine and are the product of the same engineering mind, will be beneficial and auspicious for our navies.” he said.
Stating that he believes that both platforms will make great contributions to the two countries, the security of the Black Sea, the NATO alliance and the peace of the region, Erdoğan said, “I would like to underline one point right at the beginning of my speech. As you have followed, our world is going through one of the most radical changes since the Cold War. While the usual patterns are breaking down, our motto is ‘Tough spoils the game.’ “A new security paradigm that we call emerging is emerging.” he said.
Erdoğan noted that every crisis encountered reminds us once again that national security is a vital issue that cannot be delegated to others, and continued as follows:
“We are in the middle of an extremely chaotic period where those who are not strong in the field cannot find a place for themselves at the table or even find themselves on the menu. Turkey is one of the countries that noticed the spirit of this new era very early and read it most accurately. Our defense industry constitutes the locomotive of our ‘Great and Powerful Turkey’ vision. Thank God, we have come a long way in 23 years on the path we set out with the goal of ‘fully independent Turkey’ in the defense industry. Although we encountered obstacles, restrictions, secret and open embargoes, we walked patiently to achieve our goal. “We believed in ourselves and trusted our defense sector. As a result, we reached levels that were unimaginable 23 years ago.”
“WE ARE ONE OF THE COUNTRIES THAT CAN BUILD THE HIGHEST WARSHIP AT THE SAME TIME”
Pointing out that Türkiye is the 11th largest country in the world in defense exports, Erdoğan said, “Last month, we achieved a historical success by exporting defense and aerospace products worth 996 million dollars. While 23 years ago we exported 248 million dollars a year, today we achieve this figure in just one week. Our military shipbuilding industry is experiencing the busiest and most productive days of our 103-year Republic history. We have exported more than 140 naval platforms to different geographies to date. The smallest “We can build all our surface and underwater platforms, from boats to our UAV ship TCG Anadolu, from destroyers to submarines, to our national aircraft carrier MUGEM, with our national means and capabilities. We are one of the countries that can build the most warships at the same time.” he said.
Erdoğan said that Türkiye has currently manufactured over 50 warships, more than 15 of which are to be exported to friendly and allied countries.
“We produce platforms of different types and classes, from national aircraft carriers to air defense destroyers, from frigates to offshore patrol ships, from landing ships to submarines, with a domestic production rate of over 80 percent.” Erdoğan also stated that they continue their research, design and production activities of unmanned marine vehicles that meet different needs, and that the total cost of the projects they carry out has reached 25 billion euros.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the painful security environment the world is in makes it essential for friends and allies to increase their cooperation and said, “With this understanding, we consider it our duty to share the opportunities and capabilities we have in the defense industry with our friendly countries.” he said.
Erdoğan, Open Sea Patrol Ship CAm. at Istanbul Shipyard Command. In his speech at the Delivery of Roman to the Romanian Naval Forces Command and the Commissioning and Flag Raising Ceremony of the Turkish Naval Forces Command Platforms, he stated that the Turkish Navy, which had a regional power transfer capability before TCG Anatolia, now has a global power transfer capability, and that this is a source of pride for the country.
Stating that they have now further strengthened this capability, Erdoğan said that they have become the 7th country in the world to design and produce their own aircraft carrier with the MUGEM Project.
Underlining that the critical subsystems, radars, sonars, battle management systems and software of all these platforms have been implemented by Turkish engineers, Erdoğan said, “Our ships are equipped with our national ammunition and weapon systems that are superior to their counterparts. Thank God, we are competing with ourselves in every field and trying to exceed the thresholds we have set.” he said.
President Erdoğan said, “The painful security environment the world is in makes it essential for friends and allies to increase their cooperation. With this understanding, we consider it our duty to share the opportunities and capabilities we have in the defense industry with our friendly countries.” he said.
“CAM. ROMAN CORVETTE IS THE MOST CONCRETE INDICATOR OF THE WILL TO BUILD THE SECURITY OF THE BLACK SEA AND OUR REGION TOGETHER”
Emphasizing that Romania has special importance for them, Erdoğan said:
“The deep-rooted relations between Turkey and Romania, matured with the spirit of alliance, are experiencing their historical peak. As you know, we increased our relations to the level of strategic partnership in 2011. We added an institutional dimension to our relations with the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council that we established in 2024. The ceremony we are holding here today is the embodiment of this strategic partnership at sea. The corvette CAm. Roma is the most concrete indicator of the will of the two allied countries to jointly build the security of the Black Sea and our region.”
Pointing out that the security of the Black Sea is also an integral part of the Euro-Atlantic security architecture, Erdoğan stated that they found the cooperation between Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria in many fields, especially the fight against sea mines, valuable in this respect, and he hoped that this cooperation would increase even more in the future.
President Erdoğan stated that the battle management system, search and fire control radars, sonar systems and close-defense weapons used in the ships they delivered and added to the inventory today belong entirely to local and national companies and said, “Our strong defense infrastructure established under the leadership of ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, Makine Kimya and TÜBİTAK has enabled the production and delivery of these systems in a short time. With the sales agreement we signed with Romania, Turkey has exported warships to a NATO and European Union member country for the first time in its history. “The success of the ship in the testing, training and operational preparation processes has once again proven the quality of Turkish naval platforms to the whole world.” he said.
“WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO MEAN OUR SOVEREIGNTY OR CREATE A THREAT TO OUR COUNTRY”
Noting that they put TCG Koçhisar into service today, which will strengthen the power of the heroic naval forces, Erdoğan said, “This platform, which we built within the scope of our Open Sea Patrol Ship Project, will hopefully successfully fulfill many tasks from intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to search and rescue, from the fight against piracy to maritime inspection and non-combat operations.” he said.
Erdogan continued his speech as follows:
“Türkiye’s aim is not to create tension in our region, but to strengthen peace, justice, tranquility and stability. We do not seek crisis, chaos, fight and conflict with anyone, on the contrary, we are in favor of a strong cooperation based on mutual respect. We do not and never have had an eye on anyone’s land or sovereignty. We do not and have never had an eye on anyone’s legitimate rights and interests. However, we do not allow anyone to target our sovereignty, pose a threat to our country or harm our interests. Our principle is very clear, we are “We neither take credit nor compromise our rights. We see contributing to the security needs of our friends and allies with our own national capabilities as a natural requirement of this understanding. Both ships we sent off to the sea at this dock today are the embodiment of this vision, this belief and this determination.”
Congratulating the Ministry of National Defense, the Presidency of Defense Industries, the Naval Forces Command, the Istanbul Shipyard Command, ASFAT and all the companies, engineers, technicians and workers involved in the project, Erdoğan said, CAm. He wished that the Roman corvette would be beneficial to Romania.

The “Zero Waste for a Sustainable Future” exhibition, prepared by the Zero Waste Foundation within the scope of the zero waste vision that has become an exemplary environmental movement for the world, awaits its visitors.
The exhibition, held in Taksim Square, conveys the concept of waste management, efficient use of resources, circular economy and sustainable living to visitors through different experience areas, within the scope of the zero waste vision initiated under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, Founder of the Zero Waste Movement, President of the United Nations (UN) Zero Waste High-level Personalities Advisory Board and Honorary President of the Zero Waste Foundation.
Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül, who visited the exhibition, said in his statement that Zero Waste Week was celebrated for the first time in Istanbul on June 1-7, and millions of citizens participated in more than 1500 events.
Gül stated that they followed the Zero Waste Festival with the intense participation of citizens and said, “Around 1.5 million of our citizens attended these events, from concerts to workshops, where other stakeholders and institutions working in this sense showed our own workshops to our citizens and experienced them.” he said.
Pointing out that the exhibition was held with the support of the Zero Waste Foundation, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Governorship, Gül said, “You will appreciate that not all areas can be penetrated by just explaining and talking in the halls. Children, young people and women need to see this and experience it. Hopefully, under the leadership of our President, we will do better next year with a strong Turkey and strong events. We are pleased to see that the beginning of the formation of a culture has shown that these efforts are not in vain.” he said.
“IN THE EXHIBITION, WE EXPLAIN THE DAMAGE THAT FOOD WASTE CAUSES TO INDIVIDUALS, THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE WORLD”
Zero Waste Foundation President Samed Ağırbaş said that the Zero Waste Movement, initiated under the leadership of Emine Erdoğan, is commemorated with different representations in 193 countries of the world, especially in 81 provinces of Türkiye, as of this year.
Ağırbaş stated that they came together to promote the exhibition, which has been open since the beginning of June, and used the following statements:
“Here, we want to draw attention to food waste, which is the biggest problem in the world. We invite all our citizens to our exhibition on food waste, from industry to agriculture. More than 8 million people die every year due to reasons related to hunger and thirst. Unfortunately, more than 800 million people do not have access to electricity. More than 1 billion meals a day go to waste. As of today, 35 percent of the fish caught goes directly to the garbage. We want to draw attention to food waste in the world. In this context, food waste is in the exhibition we have created here. “We explain the damage that waste causes to individuals, the environment and the world.”
Mentioning that they have prepared a wide exhibition ranging from metal emissions to carbon dioxide and compost processes, Ağırbaş said, “In this context, we will launch a global campaign in the context of COP31 with our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. With this 10-year campaign, we will ask countries around the world to reduce food waste. As the Zero Waste Foundation, we will present the world with a new brand related to food waste under the leadership of First Lady Emine Erdoğan.” he said.
Ağırbaş emphasized that they will undertake a study that can directly affect the fate of the world and said:
“In the coming period, as the Zero Waste Foundation, we will continue to work with both the Governorship of Istanbul, other institutions and organizations, and our international partners. We have a dream. We want a more livable and fairer world. We will run towards this goal tirelessly. In this context, we want to invite all our fellow citizens of Istanbul to this exhibition in Taksim Square. This exhibition will be open until the middle of next month. At the exhibition, our citizens will be able to see in detail the damage that food waste causes to the environment and individuals.”
After their speeches, Governor Gül and Ağırbaş visited the exhibition area.
EXHIBITION
The exhibition, designed in a wide scope from industry to agriculture, from food to daily life habits, presents the zero waste approach to visitors not only as reducing waste, but also from a holistic perspective in line with the goal of protecting natural resources, preventing waste and leaving a livable world to future generations.
The “Zero Waste for a Sustainable Future” exhibition consists of 5 main sections.
The first stop, the “Welcoming Room”, introduces visitors to the global waste problem. While the “Waste Problem Wall” application conveys striking data about the worldwide waste problem through LED screens, the “Touch Data Wall” provides visitors with the opportunity to obtain detailed information with its interactive structure.
“Infinity Room” offers a three-dimensional experience to visitors by addressing the issue of waste through agriculture, industry and food. Thus, “Waste is not the end, change is in your hands.” The message points out the importance of individual contribution.
The “Food Waste” section of the exhibition addresses the global scale, environmental impacts and social consequences of food waste. In this section, the responsibilities of all stakeholders, especially manufacturers, industrial organizations, retail sector, public institutions and individuals, in reducing food waste are conveyed. Visitors can also learn about compost practices, food reuse and waste reduction methods that can be applied at home. This section is completed with a special film showing the 9-year development process of the Zero Waste Movement.
“Agricultural and Industrial Area” presents current studies and transformation examples on the application of zero waste principles in production processes to the attention of visitors. In this section, effective use of resources, waste reduction and applications of the circular economy approach in different sectors are discussed.
The last section of the exhibition, “Zero Waste Declaration and COP31 Promotion Area”, provides visitors with information about the global climate agenda and sustainability efforts. In this area, visitors can review and sign the Zero Waste Declaration and access information about COP31, an important process in the fight against climate change.
The zero waste approach, which has become a global environmental movement under the leadership of Emine Erdoğan, aims to raise awareness for a cleaner, sustainable and livable future by meeting all segments of society through this exhibition.

SON DAKİKA | Başkan Erdoğan: TÜRGEV’in temelinde güçlü Türkiye var
Başkan Erdoğan, Haliç Kongre Merkezi’nde düzenlenen TÜRGEV’in 30.
Erdoğan, milletin sahiplenmesiyle devasa bir çınara dönüşen TÜRGEV’i 30 sene önce son derece halisane niyetlerle toprağa diktiklerini söyledi.
Başkan Erdoğan, TÜRGEV yurtlarının kapısının bugüne kadar tam 47 bin 542 öğrenciye açıldığını, TÜRGEV’in halihazırda 9 ilde 6 bin 500 kişi kapasiteli 24 öğrenci yurduyla gençlere yüksek standartlarda hizmet verdiğini aktardı.
Başkan Erdoğan, insanlık tarihinde hemen her çağda büyük değişimler, önemli dönüşümler yaşandığını, bunların sonuçları itibarıyla insanlığı yeni fırsatlarla tanıştırırken diğer taraftan zorlu sınamalarla karşı karşıya bıraktığını anlattı.
Milli iradeye düşmanlık edenlerin hedef tahtasına TÜRGEV’i de koyduğunu belirten Erdoğan, şunları kaydetti:
28 Şubatçı vesayet heveslileri, TÜRGEV’i işte bunun için hedef aldı.

On the other hand, it was also noteworthy that it was revealed that a motion was made by CHP Group Spokesperson Servet Akman in the April 2026 meetings of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council to investigate the aid provided to Haymana Municipality. The initiative in question was interpreted as the party’s discomfort towards Haymana Municipality having been on the agenda before.
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER MURAT’S CORPORATE VISIT DRAW ATTENTION
The fact that the banner crisis occurred after Haymana Mayor Levent Koç visited the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum brought about various evaluations. It is known that discussions about some CHP mayors facing criticism and pressure within the party after their contacts with the central government have been reflected in the public before.
While the latest development in Haymana has reignited the discussions on harmony between CHP municipalities, it has become a matter of curiosity how the relations between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Haymana Municipality will be shaped in the coming period.

Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş: We will establish a terror-free region together
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, attended the Politics School Closing and Certificate Program organized by the National Turkish Student Union. In addition to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, the 27th Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, İsmail Kahraman, the President of MTTB, Tahsin Basari, and guests attended the program held in Fatih. The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafız Muhammed Karagöz.
“HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION SHOULD BE Abolished, IT IS AWESOME”
Participating in the programme, the 27th Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, İsmail Kahraman, said, “We see that evil is less in the events we see in religious countries. We should also keep national heroes alive. High school education should be abolished, it is unnecessary, the first 2, 3, 4, 5 are secondary schools. We repeat this as high school. That’s why the old secondary school graduates were much more perfect than the university graduates. Why are we numbing the brain? I don’t know what the Amazon ship is like, why I don’t know my own history.”
“YOU HAVE ACHIEVED A GREAT SUCCESS”
Congratulating the successful work of the parliament on the new constitution studies, Kahraman said, “You called on the parties to ensure national unity in the new constitution studies. You achieved a great success. Because they all signed the declaration. You made the decision from that delegation, I say it as a person with experience. This is a great success. I congratulate you.”
“NATIONAL TURKISH STUDENT UNION HAS 4 PILLARS. JUST AS A DOME HAS FOUR PILLARS: MORALITY, FAITH, SCIENCE AND ACTION”
Speaking at the program, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, said, “The National Turkish Student Union has four pillars. Morality, faith, science and action, just like a dome has four pillars. Since it is known that if one of these is missing, especially the youth of an ambitious country like Turkey, the youth will be incomplete, so they tried to complete these four pillars perfectly. In our youth, in the previous periods until your time, importance was given to basic education, trips and cultural activities were a feature of the process.”
“Türkiye DID NOT GIVE UP ITS IDEAL”
Continuing his speech, Kurtulmuş said, “In this context, this great cause has two basic legs, one inside and the other outside. The inside leg is the situation that belongs to Türkiye, the Anatolian continent on which Türkiye is based, in the words of the master, and our entire geography of heart. We have summarized it again with the ideal of a strong great Turkey and have worked for this for years. In other words, Turkey is not a follower, not a satellite, not a fake one, but a completely independent one in every field, from education to culture, from art to technology, from the military field to the international arena.” And we will aim to be a country that is followed. That’s why the conditions of the 1950s and 1960s were different, the conditions of the 1970s and 80s were different, but we never gave up on the ideal of a great Turkey again. We never said let’s follow the tail of such and such a group, let’s walk in the shadow of such and such a country. “We trusted its past, its history, its knowledge, and we trusted the current opportunities of this country,” he said.
“BEING A LEAD IN MANY NEW FIELDS, ESPECIALLY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, AND BEING A FOLLOWED COUNTRY IS AN INDISPENSABLE ITEM OF TURKEY’S IDEAL”
Stating that Türkiye has reached a new era in terms of technological developments, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş said, “Perhaps in a very concrete way, great struggles have been made to realize the heavy industry move in Türkiye, to establish factories in every city of Türkiye, and successes have been achieved in many areas, from the Revolution engine industries to Türkiye’s public investments. Now we are in the new era. In this period, being ahead in many new fields, especially high technologies, computer information technologies, transportation and communication technologies, especially artificial intelligence, being a followed country, becoming an indispensable part of the ideal of a strong Turkey again.” “Therefore, we will update all our goals within the understanding of the age, within the understanding of the century. This country has been offered a lot in its past political history. Don’t produce this, why are you wasting your time with it? Go ahead and take what other countries produce. We have never been in favor of this idea. We have always struggled to be yourself, to produce yourself, to move forward, and to walk around your own great ideal of Turkey.”
“ONE OF OUR MOST FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES IS TO WORK WITH OUR GREAT POWER TO PROVIDE FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE ON THE EARTH”
“One of the most important elements of our state tradition is the order of the world,” said Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and added:
“Our ideal is to make Türkiye a country that is strong in every respect and followed in every field, in short, to become a strong Turkey again. The second leg of this is our attitude towards the outside world, especially our immediate surroundings. Our goal here is to fight for the establishment of a new global system that is fair and equitable. Because, dear young people, it is one of our important characteristics as a nation. The state is one of the most important elements of our tradition, the order of the world. In other words, we are only responsible for correcting our own society.” We are not a nation. We are also the grandchildren of a nation that protects the rights of all the oppressed and victimized people and struggles to establish equity and justice all over the world. Today, one of our most fundamental duties is to work with all our strength to ensure equity and justice in the world. For this reason, our foreign policies have become a country whose words are respected and whose words are wondered almost everywhere in the world. We will strive to solve the problems all over the world. “Türkiye has a say in everything, from ending the war between Russia and Ukraine to ending the crimes against humanity in Gaza. We will produce ideas, make efforts, and realize our policies for the liberation of the oppressed nations in the African continent, Asia, and the farthest corners of the world, and for them to live in a just and equitable world.”
President Kurtulmuş said, “What is Türkiye doing in Somalia? What is Türkiye doing in Yemen? What is Türkiye doing in the Balkans? Because this is the main issue between us. Because of the state education we received and the national ideal of our nation, I say again, we are not only responsible for ourselves, but for people all over the world. For this reason, let me ask this question. Because of this, Türkiye’s leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan “He gets up and tells our idea to the whole world at the United Nations, saying the world is bigger than five, and expresses it from every platform,” he said.
“I CONSIDER THE WORK OF OUR NATIONAL SOLIDARITY, BROTHERHOOD AND DEMOCRACY COMMISSION TO BE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR TURKISH DEMOCRACY”
Continuing his speech, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Kurtulmuş, said, “We will continue on our way to test a period in which no one can deceive the children of this country into giving them a gun based on ethnic differences. In this context, as İsmail brother has just stated, I see the work of our National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission, which we carried out in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and reported on in the summer months of last year and thereafter, as extremely important for the democracy of Turkey. In all the international contacts I have made, our opposition on the other side is due to the work of this commission.” “I see that they are watching Türkiye with appreciation. I hope that all MPs who participated in the commission work and all parties prepared a report unanimously, which is a first for Turkey’s democracy. It is a first in our multi-party political life,” he said.
“GNAT WILL FULFILL ITS RESPONSIBILITY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE”
Stating that a terror-free region will be established together with a terror-free Turkey, TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş said, “A road map was put forward in that report. Hopefully, the requirements of that road map will be completed in the next period. I hope that the Turkish Grand National Assembly will fulfill its responsibilities and legal regulations will be fulfilled as soon as possible in order to ensure social integration with the understanding that the organization has completely eliminated itself and its weapons have been laid down. I wholeheartedly believe that this step will be taken to achieve the goal of a Terror-free Turkey in the short term.”
KURTULMUŞ’S EMPHASIS ON NEW CONSTITUTIONAL STUDIES
Stating that the work on a new constitution should be started, TBMM Speaker Kurtulmuş said, “I hope that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will start working on a new constitution as soon as possible. Thus, we will leave behind the issue of constitutions that came into being after the coups, which started in 1876. In our history of the Republic, after the 60 coup, the 61 constitution, after the 80 coup, the 82 constitution, we have left all these coups behind, left behind the constitutions that were the product of coupist ideas, a free, modern, participatory and truly democratic. “I believe that we have the strength and power to make the constitution,” he said.
Following the speeches, the certificates were presented to those who graduated from the school of politics by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş and the Speaker of the 27th Grand National Assembly of Turkey, İsmail Kahraman.

Confessor busted extortion network – Breaking News
Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Mersin, examining a detailed report received via e-mail, shed light on the allegations of bribery, extortion, tender rigging and abuse of power in detail, in which Mayor Mustafa Turgut was the number one suspect and “organization manager”. 18 suspects were detained in the Dawn operation. The details of the investigation were revealed through the stories of the municipal staff, who served as the courier of the organization and later became a confessor by taking advantage of effective remorse. The confessor stated that he delivered the bribe box full of dollars to the Silifke Municipality official vehicle waiting at a gas station, and that Mayor Mustafa Turgut and Turgut Ongun were also in the vehicle at the time. Through HTS (phone signal), PTS (license plate recognition system) and bank investigations, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office found that on December 18, 2025, when the bribe was delivered, Bora Tuğay withdrew a large amount of cash from the bank that fit into boxes, and that the phone signals of the couriers matched the delivery addresses second by second. When Mayor Mustafa Turgut’s bank accounts were examined by MASAK, it was determined that a total of 6 million 300 thousand TL was sent by Nizamettin Ceylan in 12 different transactions under the name of “donation”, but the money went to Turgut’s personal expenses, not to the municipality. –

LGBT teacher scandal in private school
A scandalous development took place in a private school in Sarıyer, Istanbul. Burak Ü., a 6th grade English teacher at Sarıyer Açı Secondary School, applied to the Istanbul 36th Civil Court of First Instance and changed his gender to female through legal means. The teacher, who changed her name to “Zoe Lila”, started attending classes with her new appearance, clothes and accessories.
NORMALIZATION EFFORT
Parents who learned about the situation called the school administration and expressed their concerns. Thereupon, the school administration sent an informative e-mail to parents. In the e-mail, it was stated that English teacher Burak Ü. changed his name during the gender conformity process within the scope of the legal application and will now continue to work under the name ‘Zoe Lila’. In the e-mail, parents were also invited to the “Gender Identity Development” seminar to be held on the same day. However, while the incident quickly turned into serious reactions against the school administration, parents evaluated the attitude of the school administration as ‘an effort to normalize the situation’. Parents criticized the fact that a sensitive issue such as gender reassignment was brought to the children’s agenda without preparing the pedagogical ground and establishing healthy communication with families.

INSPECTOR HAS BEEN ASSIGNED
It was noted that the necessary permit processes at the provincial or district national education and district governorship level were not completed before the seminar to be held by the school administration. It was learned that following the complaints, the Ministry of National Education (MEB) initiated an investigation and appointed an inspector. Both the administrative process and the pedagogical approach of the school administration will be scrutinized.

PARENTS: IT WAS IMPOSED
Some parents argued that they were only informed, their opinions were not taken, and that the seminar was presented as if it were a compulsory process. It was emphasized that family-school cooperation is indispensable, especially on sensitive issues that concern secondary school children. Parents stated that the school administration should first listen to the concerns of the families and then establish a communication model with a clear pedagogical framework.
‘IT MAY CAUSE TRAUMA’ PSYCHOLOGIST
Mehmet Büyükçorak said, “This issue and discussion should not be considered as a person’s individual preference or private life, but as a situation that serves students in a very crowded age group, who are in early adolescence. When you say to a group of students in the 12-13-14 age group, ‘He changed his gender and will continue like this from now on,’ you start to conflict between cultural values and personal preferences. The responsibility of the institution is to protect the student from psychological and mental threats as well as physical threats. If you give the children a burden that is too much for them to bear.” “If you leave it like this and normalize it, traumatic reasons may arise. Children may face some questions they cannot solve about their own sexual orientation,” he said.
IT DRAW A PEDAGOGICAL REACTION
Education experts state that children in the transition period to adolescence go through an extremely sensitive process in terms of identity development. It is stated that any information to be conveyed to this age group should be planned by taking into account the development level, psychological readiness and family dynamics. According to experts, every step taken without pedagogical preparation can lead to confusion in children and a crisis of trust in families.
