“COOPERATION BETWEEN JUDICIAL AUTHORITIES IS IMPORTANT”
Noting that cooperation and bilateral relations in the field of justice constitute an important dimension, Minister Gürlek evaluated: “We attach importance to the mutual cooperation of the two countries, especially in the judicial sense, on issues such as organized crimes, the fight against organized crimes, drug trafficking, immigrant smuggling, laundering of proceeds of crime. Cooperation between judicial authorities will also strengthen the cooperation between countries and will also undertake an important task in terms of the effectiveness of international justice.”
“THE FIGHT AGAINST FETO CONTINUES WITH DETERMINATION”
Reminding that 251 people were martyred in FETO’s treacherous coup attempt on July 15, Minister Gürlek continued his speech as follows: “Due to the judicial processes carried out in this context, our Ministry conveyed our requests for legal assistance to your Ministry and competent authorities. However, unfortunately, some problems arose in the fulfillment of these requests. Our country’s determined struggle against the FETO terrorist organization, which especially targets the constitutional order and usurps the national will, continues. In this context, the Dutch authorities, whom we see as a friendly and ally country, especially in terms of legal aid. We hope that he will help and cooperate with us in terms of extradition and extradition of criminals.

“WE DEMAND THE EXTRADITION OF MUSA AŞOĞLU FROM THE NETHERLANDS”
Stating that yesterday was the anniversary of the martyrdom of Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, Minister Gürlek said, “As you know, I was appointed as the Minister of Justice after working as a prosecutor. Our colleague, the Public Prosecutor, and also our colleague, was first captured by a member of the DHKP-C terrorist organization and then brutally murdered.”
Minister Gürlek stated that the trial of Musa Aşoğlu, the leader of the DHKP-C terrorist organization, who ordered this vile attack, is continuing at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court and said, “We demand the extradition of Musa Aşoğlu, the leader of this terrorist organization, to our country from the Netherlands as a result of the trial. Unfortunately, no positive steps have been taken on this issue so far. We sincerely believe that the demands and important sensitivities we have expressed will be met by the Dutch authorities.”
EMPHASIS ON COOPERATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST INTERNATIONAL CRIME
Explaining that in addition to the fight against terrorism, there are extradition agreements within the scope of legal aid with many countries within the scope of the fight against other international crimes, especially drug trafficking, money laundering and human trafficking, Minister Gürlek said, “As a result of the simultaneous operation carried out between the Netherlands and Turkey in April last year, drug traffickers were caught and their evidence along with the proceeds of crime were seized, thanks to the ‘Cloud Operation’. In this context, we expect the extradition requests of those who were found to be in the Netherlands and who had an arrest warrant for drug trafficking crimes to be fulfilled in the same way to our country.” he said.
RACISM MOVEMENTS INCREASING IN EUROPE
Minister Gürlek noted that the presence of the Turkish community in the Netherlands, the security and peace of the citizens are of particular importance, and said that in this context, they follow with concern the tendencies of racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia, which are increasing especially in Western Europe.
Minister Gürlek said that they have observed that such threats have been increasing recently, and that they were saddened to learn that two Muslim women were subjected to police violence in the Netherlands in late January. Minister Gürlek stated that they believe that necessary precautions should be taken against such incidents. Stating that he is of the opinion that today’s meeting will take the cooperation even further, Minister Gürlek said, “We hope that the sincerity and the law of brotherhood between us and our ally, the Netherlands, will go even further.” he said.
