Response from Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek to the İmralı allegation: There is no special housing development
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek answered journalists’ questions before the AK Party group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Minister Gürlek, regarding the allegations that housing has been built in İmralı F-Type High Security Closed Penitentiary Institution, said, “There is no such thing there, there is an administrative campus, and since it is an administrative campus, new buildings and places that are needed can probably be built there. But there is no special housing being built there.”

Regarding the allegations made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel about his assets, Minister Gürlek said, “The judicial process has started regarding him. ‘THERE IS NO EXECUTION REGULATION IN THE 12TH JUDICIAL PACKAGE’
Regarding the 12th Judicial Package, Minister Gürlek said, “First, it will be submitted to the Presidential Complex. We are making regulations regarding Article 145.”

“They should not forget that by turning every opportunity they get into a symphony of insults against us and our party, they will only humiliate themselves, not us and our party. We have never been a tool in this game, and we will never be. We will not tolerate anger, hatred, the language of conflict and fight to poison politics, especially in the sensitive period we are going through. But we will also know very well that putting the limits on the people when necessary is superior to dressing 40 orphans. To the President of this country, It is neither the right nor the place of anyone, including the head of the main opposition, to criticize the ruling party in a very low-level way and to insult it with very ugly expressions. Because the CHP wrote the book on coupism and juntaism in this country. If you look at the Turkish political history, you will see the CHP walking arm in arm with the coup plotters, there you will encounter the CHP acting as a guide to the coup plotters in misty weather, and there preparing the environment for the coup with the lie that ‘university students are being put through meat grinders’. “You find the CHP, you see the CHP, the main actor of May 27, which started the coup tradition in our country. Here, I just want to remind the person at the head of the CHP, even if the blame is on the sable fur, no one will be blamed.” We understand that. So far, you have blamed everyone, from the passing citizen to the bird flying in the air, you have blamed everyone, you have declared them as scapegoats, but one day you will say, ‘Isn’t the thief guilty at all?’ You didn’t ask the question. Not one day did you say ‘it’s not his fault’. We especially stood tall. As much as you dealt with those who denounced corruption and those who said ‘I paid a bribe’, you did not deal with those who took bribes, those who committed corruption, those who extorted tradesmen, and those with poor character who turned municipalities into a waste. I’m sorry, but this country is not CHP’s domination. Municipal resources are not at the mercy of CHP mayors. Therefore, no one can say to you, ‘Eat, gentlemen, eat. It doesn’t say ‘eat until you’re full, until you’re hungry, until you’re hungry’. “He can’t say, he won’t say.”
Emphasizing that in the Republic of Turkey, no one has the privilege to commit crimes, commit corruption, or betray the trust of the nation, Erdoğan stated that the days when the law of the superiors prevailed remained in the old Türkiye, and the days when those who stole, cheated, and robbed got away with it were now left behind.

Recalling the US/Israel-Iran war, Erdoğan said, “The war, which started on February 28 in our region and has completed its first month, continues by increasing the level of threat and danger. Our priority is for our country to get through this stormy period without incident. We are determined to keep Türkiye away from this fire. As the government, we are managing this process on a cautious, moderate, balanced and rational basis, without falling into the traps that the opposition wants to pull us into.” he said.
Stating that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended the quadripartite meeting held in Islamabad, where the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan came together, and that they expressed their concerns and the steps that could be taken to stop the war, Erdoğan said that Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler and MİT President İbrahim Kalın and other relevant people also made intense efforts within their fields of duty.
Stating that Türkiye’s stance is clear and that they consider it their duty to do whatever needs to be done without hesitation to ensure peace prevails in the region, Erdoğan said, “If there is even the slightest hope for the bloodshed to stop, the tears to cease, the guns to fall silent, and the problems to be resolved through diplomacy, it is our duty to evaluate it. Within the scope of the bribery and corruption investigation against the ISTANBUL Metropolitan Municipality, Cem Oğuz, the Chief Advisor of the suspended former Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek, and municipal employee Buse K. were detained. The corruption investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on charges of “being a manager of a criminal organization”, “being a member of a criminal organization”, “extortion”, “bribery”, “qualified fraud”, “illegal acquisition of personal data” and “tender rigging” continues. During the investigation, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek’s Chief Advisor Cem Oğuz and municipality employee Buse K. were detained in their homes during the operation carried out by the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate teams. Cem Oğuz and Buse K. were brought to Istanbul for further processing. The suspects testified at the prosecutor’s office after their procedures at the police station. Oğuz and Buse K., who were referred to the judge after their statements, were arrested. Böcek’s drivers, Aydın Günaydın Özer Uygun and Yasin Yellice, were previously arrested during the investigation.
The corruption and bribery investigation, which broke out when a personnel working in the Planning Directorate of Muğla’s Marmaris Municipality was caught red-handed by the police while accepting a bribe of 4 thousand dollars, is gradually growing. In the municipality, where a total of 400 thousand dollars of bribe traffic was allegedly carried out, 4 of the 13 people who were detained and referred to the courthouse on the grounds that there were irregularities in zoning and license procedures and bribes were taken, were arrested.
Within the scope of the investigation, it is claimed that some personnel of Marmaris Municipality obtained financial benefits by making irregularities in the new occupancy and license processes of hotels, restaurants and businesses.

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, a total of 57 people, including CHP member Mustafa Bozbey and his wife Seden Bozbey, his brothers Ramiz and Ertan Bozbey, and his daughter Side Bozbey Gürer, were detained. The suspects are accused of taking bribes in exchange for illegal construction permits and laundering them through shell companies during their term as Nilüfer Mayor. Last October, former Nilüfer Mayor Turgay Erdem and 15 people were arrested on the same charges.
The investigation covers allegations of “establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime”, “being a member of an organization”, “laundering property values resulting from crime” and “causing construction pollution”. The operation was held simultaneously in Istanbul, Balıkesir and Diyarbakır, centered in Bursa.

During the operation, former private secretary Aytunç Esendemirci, former Nilüfer Municipality Deputy Mayor Yalçın Işıkyıldız, police chief Yılmaz Adıgüzel and many municipal employees and business people were detained. The investigations are combined and Bozbey’s actions during the Nilüfer period are also evaluated within the scope of the file.

During the investigation, the ultra-luxury villa registered to Mustafa Bozbey’s wife, Seden Bozbey, attracted attention. It was revealed that the villa was purchased in the name of Seden Bozbey in 2022 with money transfers made from shell company accounts. The value of the villa in question was estimated to be approximately 60 million TL. On the other hand, the fact that the managers of Verev İnşaat company have kinship ties with Mustafa Bozbey strengthened the “organizational structure” claims. –
