Call from Director of Communications Duran to fight disinformation: We need to say ‘stop’ together

Published

on

Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran, in his post on his social media account, emphasized that we are in a period where content spreads very quickly and that this speed brings with it a great danger.

“LET’S RAISE THE VOICE OF TRUTH TOGETHER”

Stating that this danger is ‘disinformation’, Duran said:

“Let’s not forget that not every claim we come across is true, not every post is real. Our strongest shield against this danger, especially in the digital world, is our individual awareness and habit of questioning. In our fight for truth, we need to defend our cyber homeland together and say ‘stop’ to disinformation. I invite you to carefully watch and spread this public service announcement that we have prepared to raise awareness against disinformation. Let’s raise the voice of truth together.”

Duran’s post also included a public service announcement prepared to raise awareness against disinformation.

“BELIEVE IN TRUTH, NOT INTERACTION”

The following statements were included in the public service announcement:

“The content produced behind a screen crosses borders in seconds. A share and a lie that replaces the truth grows, spreads, and suddenly everyone talks about it. But not everything seen is the truth, not everything shared is the truth. Remember, disinformation becomes stronger if you believe it. Stop, think, question. Do not share without checking the source. Because the truth is not in the interaction, but in the truth. Believe in the truth, not in the interaction. Say ‘stop’ to disinformation.”

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik’s reaction to AP Akın Gürlek: We reject his targeting of Türkiye with ‘political bigotry’

Published

on

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in his statement on his virtual media account, said, “For a member of the European Parliament to speak in the tone of a ‘colonial commissioner’ when talking about the Republic of Turkey is a political embarrassment for him and an abuse of the values of the Parliament. The EP needs to seriously address this indifference. It is clear from his speech that this person has no political character and there is nothing to be taken seriously.”

Since this person has the title of ‘member of the European Parliament and shadow rapporteur’, we are obliged to respond due to the care we show about the ‘European Parliament’. It is not anyone’s place to target the Cabinet of the Republic of Türkiye, our Minister of Justice, Mr. Akın Gürlek, or any member of our Cabinet with disrespectful language. The motives behind this disrespect on behalf of the European Parliament should be seriously questioned by this long-established institution. “Respect for the sovereign rights of the Republic of Türkiye cannot be a matter of discussion,” he said.

‘WE WILL NOT ALLOW INJUSTICE TO Türkiye’S SOVEREIGN RIGHTS’

Çelik continued his statement: “The European Parliament was a qualified ‘school of politics and human rights’ in the past. Today, it is losing value due to the ‘guided political lobbying’ activities of some unqualified politicians who speak in the manner of a ‘colonial commissioner’. It has been seen that the reports prepared about Turkey in the past years were based on satisfying some political focuses, instead of reflecting the truth and opening the doors of dialogue. We attach importance to all kinds of dialogue in line with the European Parliament’s respected past and equitable approaches. We do not allow any disrespect to the sovereign rights of the Republic of Turkey. The European Parliament must strongly compensate for its mistakes in failing to stand on the right side of history on basic humanitarian issues, especially Gaza.

The European Parliament has the knowledge to be a strong supporter of the ‘alliance of humanity’, and this knowledge must first be respected by the members of the Parliament. In this context, if the European Parliament wants to use ‘sanctions’ tools correctly and respectfully, it should include European politicians who support the Zionists’ genocidal crimes in Gaza on its agenda. The EP, which has not decided to impose sanctions on politicians who support the Zionist genocide in Europe, has no ground to speak on other issues. Today, there are many agendas on which some members of the European Parliament act under the tutelage of ‘political bigotry’ under various influences. This bigoted political language aimed at Türkiye has no validity. We reject the fact that some members of the European Parliament target Türkiye with ‘political bigotry’. “The best option is for the European Parliament to send these political bigots to the ‘democracy primary school’,” he said.
