The upper echelons of the state told what they witnessed about the treacherous attempt: FETO’s dirty plans were prevented by the power of the people
On the anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt of July 15, which was recorded as the biggest breaking point in Türkiye’s recent history, important witnesses of July 15 came together at the Institute Social building in Üsküdar. The witnesses who spoke here talked about the FETO militants and their aims on the night of the coup, and touched upon the struggle of the nation on the street against the organization. Institute Social General Coordinator and Presidential Social and Youth Policies Board member İpek Coşkun Armağan made the opening speech. Videos and narratives prepared about July 15 were shown. Then, the then Advisor to the Prime Minister Necdet Subaşı, Writer Hasan Mert Kaya, then Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Mustafa Çalışkan, former Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak, then Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ and A News anchor Banu El, who broadcast on the night of the coup, took the stage as speakers respectively.
“NO POLICE WILL SURRENDER THEIR WEAPONS OR LEAVE THEIR DUTY”
Stating that they were planning a terrorist operation against ISIS in the office on Vatan Street when the coup attempt started, Mustafa Çalışkan said that the soldier reflexively gave an order upon the news that the police were trying to confiscate his gun. Çalışkan emphasized that they instilled a clear stance in all personnel in the field that night with the words “No police officer will ever surrender his weapon. If necessary, resistance will be resisted, if necessary, weapons will be used.” Stating that this instruction eliminated moments of hesitation, Çalışkan stated that this order, which spread in waves through radio and social media channels, went beyond the borders of Istanbul and became one of the most important breaking points of the resistance throughout Turkey.
“WE SECURED THE AIRPORT UNDER THE INSTRUCTIONS OF OUR PRESIDENT”
Sharing the details of his meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan later in the night, Çalışkan stated that they continued the fight with determination even though they only had one armored vehicle left in the city. Çalışkan stated that he understood the importance of the situation and immediately called the teams at the airport upon President Erdoğan’s question “What is the condition of the tower?”, and said that they cleared the tower from the coup plotters and ensured that the President landed safely at the airport, with the instruction: “Die there if necessary, but answer me within 15-20 minutes by saying we took the tower back.”
“HEROES LIKE OUR MANAGER SHOWED GREAT WITNESS”
Former Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak took the microphone after Mustafa Çalışkan and said:
“There are many historical memories that took place on the night of July 15, some of which will go to the grave with us, and hopefully, when the day comes, all of them will be obvious. While we were tested both personally and with our children that night, heroes like our manager Mustafa showed great resilience without even having the opportunity to say goodbye to his children; may God be pleased with him. That dark night was a time when not only the state institutions, but also millions of citizens, with the help of God, and a peace descended from the sky, against an organized coup that was planned months or years ago.” It is an unprecedented epic in which he stood in front of the tanks with his bare hands with his emotion.
Even though we would not have been able to bring this many people together under normal circumstances if we had agreed to “meet at the bridge at 9 o’clock”, this treacherous operation was eliminated thanks to the tremendous mercy and prayers that fell on our nation that night.
“ONE OF THE TWO PILOTS WAS A FETO MEMBER AND HE TRIED TO GUIDE US”
“What we experienced during our plane journey is the clearest evidence of how critical operations were managed that night. Since our phones were tapped, we made surprise moves through Bodrum, Aydın, Izmir and Dalaman alternatives so that we could not guess where we would go; as a matter of fact, when we landed in Dalaman at the last minute and boarded the plane, the pilots, one of whom we later learned was a FETO member, tried to direct us there, even though we knew that Sabiha Gökçen was in trouble. Despite all the efforts to prevent Ataturk Airport from saying “They might have pulled a truck onto the runway, we might crash”, we landed safely at the airport by convincing our President with the assurance we received from our manager Mustafa, “The operation is complete, we have a solid back.”
IN HIS SPEECH, HE SAID TO THE COUPISTS “THE ASSEMBLY IS STANDING”
Bekir Bozdağ, then Minister of Justice, appeared on stage at the end of the program, moderated by Journalist Banu El. Regarding what happened that day, Bozdağ said, “On the night of July 15, our people signed a resistance unprecedented in history by standing against tanks and planes with their bare hands; and we, as MPs, stood up for the national will by keeping the doors of the Parliament open that night with the determination “you cannot enter here without trampling our corpses.” FETO terrorists directly targeted and bombed the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which is the manifestation of the national will, not only a building but also the destruction of 86 million people. “This is an attempt to destroy the will of the Parliament; however, the Parliament’s continued work without interruption in the face of this vile attack has engraved in history in golden letters the historical stance of the Gazi Parliament that deserves the title of “Gazi” for the second time.”
I INSTRUCTED SELAMI YILDIZ “CHANGE THE GUARDS, SHOOT THOSE WHO RESIST”
Bekir Bozdağ touched upon the wisdom shown by the current Istanbul Provincial Police Chief, Selami Yıldız, on the side of the state, with the instructions he received, during the treacherous coup attempt of July 15. Bozdağ said, “FETO, which surrounded the judiciary and the police at that time, had issued a decision to search the houses of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his son Bilal Erdoğan. Seeing the magnitude of the danger, I immediately called Mr. Selami Yıldız and said to him, ‘Selami, immediately replace all the guards around the house of our President. Replace them with special operations officers who love their homeland and nation. If traitors who try to search there with fake decisions come, “If necessary, you will resist with weapons, but you will not let anyone step through that door. Our Director, Selami, accepted this challenge without hesitation and replaced the entire guard staff with patriotic elements and protected the life safety of our leader.”
“JULY 15 IS A MAJOR SOCIAL BREAK THAT DIFFERENT FROM Türkiye’S PREVIOUS COUPS”
Prof. Dr. Necdet Subaşı evaluated the social rupture dimension of July 15 and emphasized the decisive role of social memory in the reconstruction of common life:
“July 15 is a major social rupture that was caused by FETO’s exploitation of social weaknesses and expectations and differs from Türkiye’s previous coups. The main sociological issue today is how to rebuild common life by overcoming the distrust caused by this rupture. Recording testimonies, keeping social memory alive and developing a common consciousness against forgetting is both a sociological and public responsibility.”
“WHEN SOCIAL MEMORY IS WEAK, EXPERIENCES BECOME OPEN TO BE RURALIZED”
The forum continued with the speech of curator and writer Hasan Mert Kaya. Kaya pointed out the importance of preserving the social memory with concrete testimonies and documents in order to accurately convey July 15 to future generations.
Kaya said:
“Remembering July 15 means preserving the truth with concrete records and transferring it to future generations. Because when social memory weakens, what happened becomes open to manipulation, denial and trivialization. For this reason, we thought of Memory July 15 as a place of memory where experiences, testimony and truth are preserved, rather than a museum. Documenting that July 15 was a real coup attempt with its tanks, planes, ammunition and planning is part of the historical responsibility we bear towards the future.”
“THose who took to the streets that night acted with conscience and intuition”
Institute Social General Coordinator Dr. İpek Coşkun Armağan also said that the night of July 15, 2016 was not an ordinary date.
Noting that tanks, planes and bullets are all made of iron, but human will is much heavier than iron, Armağan said, “In those hours when FETO and collaborator dark circles marched on the people with tanks, missiles and warplanes, we gave the harshest response in the squares to the mentality that saw our country as a colony to be exploited. That night, our nation responded to the missiles with slingshot stones, as if making an analogy to the verses of Necip Fazıl, and did not show the slightest fear against the tanks that were driven on them.” He defended his freedom without being heard.” he said.
Stating that he, as a sociologist, had a hard time explaining the force that brought these people to the streets and in front of the tanks, Armağan said, “Reşat Nuri Güntekin has a very nice saying. He says, ‘Anatolian people may not be scholars, but they are wise.’ With this knowledge and intuition, they took to those streets. “Those who took to the squares that night acted with a social conscience and intuition, not because they read theses on Turkish political life.” he said.
Armağan said, “Our nation knew that the attack on its leader and state was against its own home. The bombing of our Grand National Assembly, which is the heart of our freedom, clearly shows how serious a threat that night was. The stance of Mr. Bekir Bozdağ and our deputies, who did not leave the Assembly at those moments and resisted until the first light of the morning against the traitors who tried to ignore the national will, is one of the golden pages of our history.” made his assessment.

Governor Gül: “On July 15, our nation showed our friends and enemies that a coup cannot be carried out in Türkiye without any hesitation.”
Hosted by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services and the 15 July Association, a “Meal Program within the scope of the 10th anniversary of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day” was organized in the garden of Sepetciler Pavilion in honor of the families of our heroic 15 July martyrs and our veterans. Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül, President of the July 15 Association İsmail Hakkı Turunç, district governors, provincial and district protocol, representatives of martyrs and veterans associations, families of July 15 martyrs and veterans attended the program attended by families of July 15 martyrs and veterans.
“THEY TOOK THE STREET, SAYING “OUR WILL IS OURS, VICTORY”
The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and continued with dinner. Speaking at the program, Governor Gül said, “I would like to convey to you the greetings and love of our esteemed President. We come together from time to time. We re-experience the same feelings on every anniversary. 10 years have passed. We understood that this was an invasion attempt that looked like a coup, and we resisted this invasion attempt. A victory was achieved with the foresight of our nation and the wisdom and courage of our esteemed President. Everyone who went out to the streets, who was martyred, who was a veteran, who showed their reaction from 7 to 70 In fact, as can be seen in our slogan behind us, he came out of his own will. Yes, the will was ours and as a result, victory was ours. We once again wish God’s mercy to our martyrs and wish our veterans health, well-being and well-being.
‘WE SHOWED FRIENDS AND ENEMIES THAT THERE WILL BE NO COUP IN Türkiye BY WAVING HAND AND FAR’
Governor Gül said, “During that period, almost all of our nation left their differences aside and stood by the national will. When we looked at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, we saw that our deputies from every political party were resisting there while our parliament was being bombed. On the street, we witnessed that they did not look alike, did not think the same way, did not dress the same, but they all stood together against these coup plotters. As you know, having a coup every 10 years was now a routine and ordinary matter. On July 15, with the efforts of your relatives and the support of our nation, we witnessed “We have shown to friends and foes that there will be no coup in Türkiye with all our hands,” he said.

July 15 message from Bilal Erdoğan: A turning point showing the importance of unity and solidarity
A press conference was held under the leadership of the Turkish Voluntary Organizations Foundation (TGTV) and in cooperation with the 15 July Association, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day. The meeting, held at the Memory 15 July Museum, started with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
TGTV Board of Trustees Chairman Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, in his speech at the meeting, said that on the night of July 15, 2016, the Turkish nation was faced with one of the darkest betrayals in its history.
Erdoğan stated that FETO members attempted a treacherous coup targeting democracy, national will, the survival of the state and the unity of the nation by usurping the state’s resources and the nation’s trust and said:
“Our nation, which throughout history has never consented to its independence being shackled, has undertaken an epic resistance on the night of July 15 by confronting tanks, warplanes, bombs and bullets with only its courage, faith and the red flag in its hand. Millions of people, young and old, women and men, flocked to the squares and not only repelled the coup attempt that night, but also foiled the invasion attempt that aimed to take Türkiye over.”
Stating that the Turkish nation demonstrated once again the fortitude and sacrifice it showed at many turning points in its history on the night of July 15, Erdoğan said that the epic written on the night of the coup was a manifesto of independence that should be kept alive not only in today’s but also in the memory of future generations.
Erdoğan stated that societies that do not forget the betrayals of the past and keep alive the struggle of that day and the prices paid are building their future on stronger foundations.
“JULY 15 IS A CLEAR AND CLEAR DECLARATION OF THE NATION’S WILL AGAINST THE TUTORIAL FOCUS”
Stating that July 15 was not only about preventing the treacherous coup attempt, Erdogan continued his words as follows:
“July 15 is the triumph of right over falsehood, justice over oppression, and independence over independence. July 15 is a clear and clear declaration of the will of the nation against the tutelage centers. July 15 is the declaration to the whole world that sovereignty in these lands unconditionally belongs to the nation. July 15 is the year of perseverance, determination and determination that the gains made by our country under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be preserved and carried forward in line with the goals of the Turkish Century.” It is a symbol of will.”
Erdoğan emphasized that July 15 is also a historical turning point that shows the importance of unity and solidarity, and stated that it shows that millions of people with different views and social and cultural affiliations can be united when it comes to their homeland.
Stating that this spirit is Türkiye’s greatest strength, Erdoğan said:
“As the Turkish Voluntary Organizations Foundation, we believe that a strong society is built not only with economic capacity or political opportunities, but also with common values, strong memory and sense of responsibility. The real power that keeps societies alive is solidarity, the will to unite around common goals and a common sense of belonging for the future. For this reason, one of the most fundamental duties of civil society is to keep social memory alive, strengthen the consciousness of national unity and leave a solid ground of belonging to future generations.”
Erdoğan stated that non-governmental organizations are the carrier institutions that nourish the conscience, resistance and common consciousness of the society, and pointed out that it is vital to keep this memory alive, especially for the younger generations, so that they can learn from the past, understand the meaning of being a nation and correctly read the threats they may face.
Stating that they commemorate the martyrs of July 15 with mercy and gratitude, Erdoğan said, “Our duty today is to keep July 15 alive not only as an epic that remains in memories, but also as a living consciousness that teaches us to be alert against all kinds of tutelage, keeps unity and solidarity alive, reminds us of the responsibility of protecting the national will and strengthens our future. Our prayer to our Lord is that our nation will not experience such betrayals again, and that we will preserve our unity, solidarity and “It makes our brotherhood permanent.” he said.
After his speech, Erdoğan signed the July 15 Commemorative Book and read his message.

Questionable congress statement from Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: Those who took the money and gave the statement were CHP members
“I WITHDRAWED TO AVOID CONFLICT”
Kılıçdaroğlu, who also clarified the authority discussions regarding the parliamentary group meeting, stated that he took a step back in order not to escalate the tension within the party.
“The group meeting is held by the Chairman under normal circumstances,” said Kılıçdaroğlu, “I withdrew to avoid a conflict and held the meeting at the Headquarters. The sacrifice falls on me here. If Özgür Özel wants to hold a group meeting, let him do it; even if it is not in accordance with the law and the statute, he can do it anyway.” he said.
CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION IN MUNICIPALITIES: “NOT ORDINARY INDICTMENTS”
Referring to the corruption and bribery investigations carried out against IMM and other CHP municipalities, Kılıçdaroğlu said:
“They are still in the trial phase. People can be tried. I have been advocating that our mayors be tried without detention from the very beginning. Being tried is something else. Our mayors can be held accountable. I looked at their files. I read all the indictments. They are not ordinary indictments.
No lawsuit was filed based on an allegation. The indictments are more than just ordinary indictments. This is the prosecutor’s indictment. There will also be a lawyer’s defense. CHP has a separate disciplinary board. Decisions here go to the Party Assembly. For example, PM did not accept one of the ones we sent.
The IMM case is not a political case. “

BREAKING NEWS | NATO Summit statement from President Erdoğan: We did not leave anything to chance
The Cabinet Meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has ended. The meeting at the Presidential Complex lasted approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
President Erdoğan made statements after the Cabinet Meeting.
Important statements from President Erdoğan!
Highlights from President Erdoğan’s statements are as follows:
Western countries were content to watch the ethnic cleansing attempt in the heart of Europe. 8,372 Bosnians, including children, women and the elderly, were massacred and buried in mass graves. Even though 31 years have passed, the wounds caused by the Srebrenica Genocide are still bleeding. I express once again that the support of Türkiye and the Turkish nation will always be with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
NATO SUMMIT IN ANKARA
We successfully held the NATO Summit on July 7-8. 32 Alliance member Heads of State and Government attended. All leaders, including Mr. Trump, accepted our invitation. Ukrainian President Zelensky and Syrian President Shara also paid a bilateral visit to Ankara. NATO Summits are international meetings where security is at the highest level. We did not leave anything to chance in terms of security measures. We took all kinds of precautions with our police, intelligence and judicial units. The identified infrastructure deficiencies were corrected in a timely manner. Ankara increased its international visibility by hosting a historic summit. I think the reflections of this will be seen especially in tourism.
“WE ARE ALL CITIZENS OF THIS STATE”
There is a marginal segment in Türkiye that cannot tolerate hearing positive statements about their own state. They just can’t get over it. They produce unthinkable delusions to denigrate Türkiye’s hosting status. When we see these, we feel sorry for them. Alienation is bad, but alienation from one’s own nation is much worse. Regardless of our party or our views, we are all citizens of this state. What is good for Türkiye is good for all of us. I would like to remind those who are disturbed by the Janissary march and the Janissary march: Whether you accept it or not, there is no longer a Türkiye that makes rejection its legacy. On the contrary, there is a Türkiye that embraces its cultural heritage.
Mr. Trump’s visit was very meaningful. We welcomed their messages full of praise for our country. We will continue to work with Mr. Trump.
NEW SUPPORT PACKAGE FOR MANUFACTURERS
We are expanding the scope and budget of the investment-committed advance loan program. We are increasing the program budget for this new application to 750 billion lira. With the new financing program we have implemented, we are offering a 250 billion lira loan package with favorable conditions to the manufacturing industry. Thanks to these two programs, we are paving the way for a total of 1 trillion lira of loans with favorable conditions for the manufacturing industry.
