We stand with the people of Venezuela – Breaking News
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the nation after the first cabinet meeting of the year, which was held in the Social Complex and lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes. Erdoğan’s statements are briefly as follows:
Turkey is one of the countries that defend justice, legitimacy and international law all over the world. We have clearly stated our stance wherever there is injustice, lawlessness and oppression, from Gaza to Syria. We do not get caught up in complexes when it comes to our principles.
Even though the head of the main opposition does not know this truth; Our friends and brothers from Africa to Latin America know this very well. If necessary, we will think a thousand times and say something, and we will always protect and promote Türkiye’s interests. Because the nation’s trust is upon us, 86 million people have rights and responsibilities.
On our shoulders is the responsibility of hundreds of millions of people who have pinned their hopes on the great and powerful Türkiye. We have an egg tray on our backs. Conducting both domestic and foreign policy with principles; We are a government that acts with reason and conscience; We are such a team. We do not approve of any action that violates political legitimacy and international law, anywhere in the world.

WE SHARED OUR SENSITIVITIES
In the Venezuela issue, we are trying to do what is best for both Türkiye and the friendly Venezuelan people. Mr. Maduro and the Venezuelan people have always shown that they are friends of our nation. As two friendly countries, we gave importance and priority to being in solidarity with each other in our difficult times. We act with the same understanding today. Violating countries’ sovereign rights and violating international law are risky steps that can lead to serious complications at the global level. In a world where the “law of power” prevails instead of the “force of law”; Instability, crisis and conflict are constant. As Türkiye, we never want chaos, turmoil and tension neither in our region nor in other geographies.
We evaluated the Venezuela incident in detail at the cabinet meeting. In our telephone conversation with US President Mr. Trump, we conveyed our country’s sensitivities. We underlined that Venezuela should not be dragged into instability. Türkiye and the Turkish Nation; It will continue to stand by the friendly Venezuelan people in their struggle for prosperity, peace and development.
We courageously defend the rights and laws of our country on every platform, without hesitation, bending or twisting. We do not beg for attention from strangers for “5 minutes” like the leader of the main opposition, nor do we beg our interlocutors for a “5-minute meeting”. Aware that we are members of a great nation and a great state, we stand tall everywhere, but we do not stand tall.
We all need to hold tightly to our eternal and eternal brotherhood, without letting discord, discord and corruption come close to our door. There have always been and will always be those who want to divide us, those who want to create discord between us, those who want to pit us against each other, but we will not fall for these tricks.
What those who point their fingers at Türkiye in an extremely arrogant manner, regardless of their size and size, want from us is our state, our homeland; Their aim is to prevent our ideal of a great and powerful Türkiye from coming into reality. We will not fall into these insidious traps of Turks and Türkiye’s enemies. By continuing the terror-free Türkiye process with determination, we will radically solve the 40-year-old terrorism problem.

GOOD NEWS OF SCHOLARSHIP INCREASE FOR YOUTH
In 2002, only 45 lira scholarship and education loans were given to 451 thousand 550 university students. In 2025, we provided support to a total of 1 million 518 thousand university students, including loans to 867 thousand people and scholarships to 651 thousand people. The total scholarship and loan support we provided to our university students last year alone was 34 billion 14 million liras. As scholarships and education loans in 2025; We were offering 3 thousand lira support to our undergraduate students, 6 thousand lira to master’s degree students, and 9 thousand lira to doctoral students. By increasing this altitude by 33 percent by 2026; We increase it to 4 thousand liras for our undergraduate students, 8 thousand liras for our master’s students, and 12 thousand liras for our doctoral students.
Addressing the nation after the 2-hour cabinet meeting at the Social Complex, Erdoğan also gave information about his meeting with US President Trump.
ÖZEL IS MAKING THIRD CLASS POPULISM
The chairman of the ANA opposition party practices third-rate populism in foreign policy as well as in domestic politics. It is not even clear what this person said or what he defended. Let’s review the events that have occurred in our region in recent years and the CHP’s approach to them. You cannot find a single accurate prediction from the CHP Chairman. Neither in the Black Sea, nor in the Eastern Mediterranean, nor in the Gaza genocide, nor in Libya nor Syria; They have no consistent, conscientious or backbone stance. All they know is to oppose our government; Calling “black” what we call “white” and “wrong” what we call “right”.

These were the people who criticized our government in the early days of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, as a sign of the centers of power against which they are now helpless. These were the people who said “Assad should be negotiated” while the deposed leader of Syria was fleeing his country. These were the people who opposed our support for Azerbaijan, in unanimity with the Armenian diaspora, in the 44-day homeland war of Karabakh. These were the people who labeled the Palestinian resistance as terrorism during the Gaza genocide. These were the people who accused Türkiye of supporting ISIS for years. These were the people who organized tours to Europe to complain about Türkiye. These were the people who lined up to congratulate those who advocated intervention in their own country. These were the people who did not know what “backbone”, what “principle” or “national interest” was in foreign policy; It was the main opposition leaders who were pontificating on us today. Now they are out and trying to pressure us as they think. No one should be sorry; but this is called brazenness.
CHP’S PATHOLOGICAL MOOD
The opposition cannot act with the logic of “no matter what happens to Türkiye even if the government wears out”; He cannot be in such irresponsibility. Moreover, after such an example of lack of foresight, the main opposition should not even open their mouths on these issues, let alone talk to us. An incident is taking place 11 thousand kilometers away from our country, in a country that has close friendly relations with Turkey; The first thing that comes to the CHP Chairman’s mind is; Attacking us means teasing us through various photographs. If this is not a sign of a pathological mood, what is? Will you reduce polarization in politics with this provocative style? Is this how you will support the fortification of our internal front? Is this how you will protect Türkiye’s rights and laws in this difficult period that the world is going through?

BUYING F-35s IS IMPORTANT FOR NATO’S SECURITY
Türkiye’S decision to exclude it from the F-35 program due to its purchase of military equipment from Russia is unfair. I personally conveyed this issue to Trump. Türkiye’s receipt of the F-35 aircraft, for which it has already paid, and its re-inclusion in the program is important and necessary for the security of NATO, as well as the security of Türkiye and the USA, which are two strategic partners. Türkiye expects the conditions to be in line with the spirit of the NATO alliance, as in the purchase of the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Türkiye’S DOOR IS OPEN TO EVERYONE FOR PEACE
Türkiye maintains its role as a possible host for future peace talks, thanks to its ability to stay out of the Russia-Ukraine War. We can also support the observation of any ceasefire. Türkiye is the only actor that can talk directly to both Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. Türkiye’s door is open to everyone. We have said this clearly to both Russian and Ukrainian leaders many times.

In the statement read by AK Party Ankara Provincial Deputy Chairman and Head of Human Rights Cemal Güngör, it was stated that February 28 served the same dark purpose as other interventions in Turkish political history. Güngör said, “In terms of its purpose, February 28 is what May 27, September 12 and July 15 are. In fact, this process is a heavy blow not only to politics but also to society, the consequences of which are planned to last for generations.”

EMPHASIS ON THE WAVE OF OPPRESSION
In the statement, it was reminded that the tanks were used against the will of the nation during the February 28 period and the following statements were made:
The elected government was dismissed, a great wave of persecution was initiated against religious people, especially headscarved women,
It was emphasized that citizens were excluded from state institutions due to their religious sensitivities.
“WE DROPPED THE GUARDIAN FOCUS ONE BY ONE”
Drawing attention to the democratization steps taken during the AK Party government, Güngör stated that the tutelage centers were eliminated and Türkiye was brought to the standard of democracy it deserved. However, he pointed out that some of the attitudes towards headscarves and local clothes recently have protected the “risk of the February 28 mentality resurging.”

“OUR STRUGGLE WITH THE Türkiye CENTURY VISION WILL CONTINUE”
Stating that the fight against the coup mentality is a “fight for rights and great Türkiye”, Cemal Güngör completed the statement with the following words:
“Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will continue our will to stand tall against the coupist mentality. We will always keep the understanding of national will alive in order to never encounter similar processes again in our history of democracy.”

“If you really want to protect Izmir, if you want to serve the people of Izmir; implement infrastructure projects so that our citizens do not fish in the streets after every rain. Prevent leaks in water lines, no one will be left without water when the water in the dams runs out. Collect garbage from the streets so that our children will not face the threat of the epidemic. ‘February 28’ post from AK Party Deputy Chairman Yayman! “There is no power greater than the power of our nation”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, in his post on his NSosyal account, stated that February 28 was a black mark on democracy. “The February 28 process, which is a dark page in our history of democracy, has gone down in history as a symbol of the pressure on the nation’s faith, identity and choice.” Making his evaluation, Yayman noted that the mentality that tried to overshadow the will of the nation at that time tried to stop Türkiye’s democratic march by ignoring the values of the society.
Emphasizing that the essence of these lands is not surrender, but wisdom, Yayman stated that the nation has defended democracy with patience, determination and faith, and has clearly shown that the order that the tutelage centers want to establish cannot be permanent.
“THERE WAS NO POWER THAN THE POWER OF OUR NATION”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Yayman said in his post: “While erasing the traces of this understanding over the years, Turkey has stepped into a new era with a strong leadership and a determined political will. The strong will demonstrated by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been an important turning point in the construction of a Türkiye that is at peace with the values of the nation. As a matter of fact, on the night of the July 15 coup attempt, it was seen once again that this nation has the courage and determination to stand tall against every hand that reaches out to its will. Today “Our duty is to defend our democracy, freedoms and the will of the nation more strongly, without forgetting what happened in the past, and to institutionalize democratic reforms. Because the real owner of this country and the one who will determine its future is no power greater than the power of our nation.” He included his statements.
