Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that the regulation regarding the use of social media by children under the age of 15 has reached a critical stage. Stating that the working group established within the Ministry works in coordination with relevant institutions and organizations, Minister Göktaş stated that the regulation aiming to protect children in the digital environment will be implemented within 6 months.

A MODEL SPECIFIC TO OUR COUNTRY
Reminding that each country carries out its own studies on the subject, Minister Göktaş said, “After examining Australia’s report in particular, we made all the necessary evaluations and developed a model specific to our country by completing the deficiencies.” Minister Göktaş emphasized that with the law, which also includes regulations for social media, safe digital spaces will be created for children under the age of 15 and controlled use will be encouraged, and stated that they aim to prevent children from being exposed to content that is not appropriate for their age and development.

AGE VERIFICATION FROM E-GOVERNMENT
Emphasizing that the new era for social media use will not be limited to a legal regulation, Minister Göktaş stated that the technical infrastructure and application mechanisms have also been prepared comprehensively. Minister Göktaş also noted that they will implement the age verification system and different verification methods, especially e-Government, as a basis for the obligations imposed on social network providers by law, and stated that this system will be created in coordination with the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) and the Cyber ​​Security Directorate. 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day was celebrated with enthusiasm all over the country.

YOUTH ARE THE MOST CRITICAL ELEMENT OF THE DEFENSE LINE
You cannot walk towards the future without gaining your independence. The most key element of the defense line is the young people who flourished in these lands watered with the blood of martyrs and veterans. The Turkish nation has once again declared to the whole world that it will break the dirty hands that reach for its future and independence, regardless of who is behind them. This will remains as strong today as it did 107 years ago.
With the terrorism-free Türkiye process, we are trying to save our country from a half-century-old trouble on the one hand, and on the other hand, to strengthen our national unity and solidarity and to deliver you a country where there is prosperity and brotherhood. We will continue to support our youth in every field, as we have for the last 23.5 years, and to make the biggest investment in our youth.

The Foreign Affairs Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly recently adopted the “Agreement on the Establishment of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT) Civilian Protection Mechanism”. Providing information during the negotiations of the agreement, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Musa Kulaklıkaya said, “The idea of ​​establishing a civil protection mechanism within the organization, which will include search and rescue operations and rehabilitation activities, was first brought to the agenda by our President at the 8th TDT summit held in Istanbul on November 12, 2021. In this context, the first draft text of the agreement in question was prepared by our country and submitted to negotiations.”
Kulaklıkaya stated that the main purpose of the mechanism is to ensure joint and coordinated intervention under the umbrella of the organization regarding disasters and emergencies that may occur in member and observer countries of the organization and, if requested, in third countries.
