BREAKING NEWS I Minister Fidan: “We will not compromise on our national security”
“WE WILL CONTINUE WORKING TOGETHER”
Fidan said that a very important step was taken to ensure the stability of this country after a long time with the elections held in Bangladesh in February, and pointed out that his counterpart Rahman made his first visit to Türkiye.
Fidan stated that Türkiye fully supports this stable process in Bangladesh and said, “We think that Bangladesh should now take the place it deserves both in the Islamic world and in its region. We will continue to work together for this.” he said.
Underlining that Türkiye and Bangladesh have deep-rooted relations, Fidan said that Bangladesh is a valuable partner of Türkiye.
Minister Fidan said, “The aid of the Bengali people during the Balkan War and their support to our War of Independence were among the most important examples of this historical brotherhood. Today, we aim to build a much stronger and visionary partnership on these solid foundations.” made his assessment.
Pointing out the great humanitarian responsibility shouldered by Bangladesh, Fidan reminded that although nearly 10 years have passed since the crisis, the tragedy suffered by Rohingya Muslim refugees continues.
Fidan said, “Bangladesh is making a historical sacrifice on behalf of all humanity by hosting more than 1 million Rohingya (Rohingya Muslim refugees). The exemplary hospitality and humanitarian stance shown by our Bangladeshi brothers to Rohingya Muslims is admirable.” he said.
Emphasizing that Türkiye continues its aid without slowing down in order to share this burden, alleviate the suffering of Rohingya Muslim refugees and support Bangladesh, Fidan said, “The total value of humanitarian aid provided by our country has reached 80 million dollars. We continue our support in areas such as health, shelter, education and infrastructure by TIKA, AFAD, Turkish Red Crescent and Turkish Religious Foundation.” he said.
Noting that they closely follow international developments to ensure that Rohingya Muslim refugees return to their countries safely, honorably and voluntarily, Fidan said, “In this context, we support international legal initiatives, including the case filed by Gambia before the International Court of Justice.” he said.
“WE OBSERVE WITH CONCERN THAT THE WAR IS SPREAD TO THE WHOLE REGION”
Underlining that the stability, security, peace and prosperity of the region are among the main priorities of Türkiye’s foreign policy, Fidan said, “However, unfortunately, we observe with concern that the war has spread to the entire region. It is obvious that this destructive situation does not only remain at the regional security and humanitarian level, but also threatens global economic stability. We are also worried that these developments will lead to irreparable permanent hostilities in our region. This war must be put to an end as soon as possible.” he said.
Minister Fidan stated that at this stage, it is clear that all parties must return to the diplomacy table and that a permanent solution can only be achieved through dialogue, and said, “As Turkey, we have fully concentrated our efforts in this direction. Our sincere efforts for peace and stability, the understanding and constructive approach we display do not mean that we will compromise our national security in the slightest.” he said.
Regarding the ballistic ammunition fired from Iran on March 13 and directed towards Turkish airspace, Fidan said, “As you know, another missile directed towards our country was neutralized in the air yesterday. We are in direct contact with our Iranian interlocutors regarding this grave incident.” he said.
COOPERATION BETWEEN DIPLOMACY ACADEMIES
Fidan stated that the solution to global and regional crises is only possible with competent diplomacy and strong institutions, and with this vision, he and his counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the cooperation between the Diplomatic Academies of the two countries today.
Minister Fidan said, “With this memorandum of understanding, we hope to bring new horizons to the cooperation of Turkish and Bangladeshi diplomats.” he said.
Noting that Bangladesh is a strategic country with extensive connections with different groups of which it is a member on international platforms, Fidan said that Bangladesh is “a strong voice of the Global South and a priority and competent representative of Asia.”
Underlining that Bangladesh plays an active role in critical issues such as development, climate, peacekeeping, migration management and refugee protection, Fidan said, “Turkey has long been in close contact and cooperation within the UN with Bangladesh, which believes in multilateralism and strongly supports it.” he said.
In this context, Fidan stated that they welcomed his counterpart Rahman’s candidacy for the post of President of the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations and that they supported it as a country. “As you know, the General Assembly has a special position as the only body in the UN system where all members are equally represented. We have no doubt that Bangladesh will carry out this important task successfully with its active role in the UN and Mr. Rahman’s vast UN experience.” made his assessment.
Fidan stated that the scope of cooperation between Türkiye and Bangladesh is extremely broad, as befits two brother countries, and that they will continue to increase their meetings with Bangladeshi counterparts in the coming period.
Minister Fidan emphasized that they will continue to work together to strengthen the relations between the two countries with new projects and increase stability, peace and prosperity in South Asia.

The citizens of the late Prime Minister Adnan Menderes in Aydın’s Koçarlı district cannot forget the pain of the May 27, 1960 coup, which resulted in the dissolution of the Constitution and the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the execution of Prime Minister Menderes and his two ministers. 66 years have passed since the coup of May 27, 1960, one of the black marks in the history of Turkish democracy. The pain of the incident remains fresh in Aydın, the hometown of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, who was executed after the coup. In Çakırbeyli District of Koçarlı district, where Menderes was born and raised, the sadness continues as on the first day.
Çakırbeyli Neighborhood Headman Özer Orçan said that they greet every May 27 with sadness. Explaining that the coups caused a lot of pain, Orçan said, “If there were courageous people like on May 27 and July 15, if everyone could stand upright like our President, we would not have experienced this. I mean, it was different then, it is very different now.” Orçan stated that Menderes served the citizens and said, “What caused the coup? Was it his crime to serve the citizens? Is it a crime to reform his own land, distribute it to the citizens, and make citizens own land in exchange for a very small fee in a certain part? Is this a crime? To serve the country? To build schools and roads? Is this why the coup happened? No one has yet clarified this.”
BLOW TO DEMOCRACY
80-year-old Ahmet Yılmaz, one of the residents of the neighborhood, said that May 27 was a blow to democracy. Explaining that Adnan Menderes helped the villagers a lot, Yılmaz stated that he gave his own lands to the villagers at a low price to be paid in installments.

‘WE ARE THE COUNTRY THAT PRODUCES CONFIDENCE AND STABILITY’
Dear Mehmetçik, the wars, crises and conflicts that have occurred recently reveal the importance of border security without leaving any room for doubt. Especially in recent months, it has become very clear what problems countries that are late and inadequate in protecting their borders are struggling with. Thank God, we are a country that produces trust and stability in our region and in the world in terms of ensuring both border security and the safety of our land, air and sea areas. We showed this quality to the whole world once again in the EFES-2026 Exercise, which we carried out with the participation of friendly, brother and allied personnel from 50 different countries. You successfully eliminate our borders from all kinds of threats and dangers, and you fulfill your duty devotedly even on holidays.
In the new period that started with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s election victory on May 28, 2023, Türkiye has made remarkable moves in many strategic areas, from defense to energy, from foreign policy to industry. The meeting of the National Combat Aircraft KAAN with the sky, the supply of Black Sea gas to the system, the increase in oil production in Gabar and the record rise in defense industry exports were the most concrete examples of the “Turkey Century” vision reflected on the field. In the last three years, Türkiye has left behind critical thresholds to become a stronger, more effective and more independent actor not only in its region but also on a global scale.
THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY HAS BEEN FIRED: Under the leadership of President Erdoğan, Türkiye has managed to reduce the localization rates in the defense industry from 10 percent to 90 percent. After the elections of May 28, 2023, critical projects were implemented one by one. Türkiye’s first domestic warplane, KAAN, successfully made its first flight on February 21, 2024. In this first test flight, the plane stayed in the air for 13 minutes, reaching an altitude of 8,000 feet and a speed of 230 knots. Bayraktar KIZILELMA made its first flight with ammunition in September 2025. Steel Dome was put into operation.
CRITICAL STEPS IN ENERGY: Transition to Nuclear Energy accelerated after the election. The commissioning processes of the units at Mersin Akkuyu NPP, Türkiye’s first nuclear power plant, were accelerated and nuclear technology began to be integrated into the national grid. Critical steps were taken in national supply security by commissioning natural gas discoveries in the Black Sea and increasing underground storage capacities. More than 100 thousand tons of oil was produced daily in Gabar.
CITY HOSPITALS WERE OPENED ONE BY ONE: The stability provided by Erdoğan’s strong leadership was also reflected in health policies. Izmir Bayraklı City Hospital, Gaziantep City Hospital, Kocaeli City Hospital, Kütahya City Hospital, Antalya City Hospital and Aydın City Hospital opened their doors for service.
PLAYMAKER FOREIGN POLICY: The stability that followed the elections was also reflected in foreign policy. Türkiye showed the strongest stance against the ongoing systematic Zionist genocide in Gaza. The civil war in Syria, which lasted more than 14 years, ended in favor of Türkiye, thanks to Erdogan’s strategic diplomacy.

What happened in Palestine and Gaza is a separate stance and a separate foundation for us this holiday. God willing, I believe that this tyrant called Netanyahu will learn the necessary lesson against the Muslims of the world as soon as possible. I hope we will see this stance as soon as possible. Let’s live this stance together. We are waiting for 4 million, 5 million Muslims to experience this firsthand. May God help us. I hope that the Eid-al-Adha world will lead to the unity of Islam. After the Eid prayer, President Erdoğan congratulated the citizens and offered bagels to the members of the press. When a journalist said during the refreshment that “Rize bagel has a special place”, Erdoğan responded as follows: “No, Istanbul bagel is different, Ankara bagel is different, Rize bagel is also completely different.”
CONQUEST CELEBRATION AND FESTIVAL ON MAY 29
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will meet with Istanbulites at the Golden Horn on Eid al-Adha. AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir invited all Istanbulites and their families to the “Festival and Conquest Celebration Program from the Conquest of Istanbul to the Conquest of Hearts”, which will be held with the honor of President Erdoğan. The program will be held at the Haliç Congress Center on Friday, May 29. MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli visited the mausoleum of MHP’s Founding Chairman Alparslan Türkeş in Beştepe after the Eid al-Adha prayer. After recitation of the Holy Quran, Bahçeli left carnations on Türkeş’s grave and poured water on the grave with a copper jug. After the visit, Bahçeli went to the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation, celebrated with the party members, chatted with the foundation representatives and took a souvenir photo.
