Minister Göktaş announced by saying “We are determined”: New regulation on social media use
24/7 DIGITAL RADAR: 2 THOUSAND 981 INSTANT INTERVENTION TO HARMFUL CONTENT!
A shield is being created against the uncontrolled structure of social media. We have a 24/7 social media monitoring system. We scan social media and negative content, and receive applications from families through our reporting platform. We directly intervened in 2,981 contents through this reporting platform. We continue our efforts to block access to negative content, especially those containing images such as violence, abuse and suicide.
THE SECOND FACE OF SOCIAL MEDIA GIANTS: CENSORSHIP IN GAZA, FREEDOM IN VIOLENCE!
As you know, a huge genocide is taking place in Gaza and Palestine. We know that these large platforms are blocking access and closing the door so that the voice of this genocide cannot be heard any more. We cannot watch these contents, but they do not take the same approach when it comes to other types of violent incidents.
‘2 HOUR’ LIMIT AGAINST VIOLENCE AND ABUSE: HISTORICAL REGULATION IS ON THE WAY!
As the Ministry, we want to impose a heavy responsibility on social media platforms. With our new regulation, we specifically request that negative content be removed within 2 hours. Because in the current situation, we, like you, have to apply and wait for the court decision. When there is negative content, we, as the Ministry, can record all these links and have them closed only by court order. We say; Be the representative of social media platforms in Türkiye. We expect support from them within 2 hours to remove some negative content, violence and suicide images.
OUR FUTURE IS UNDER SECURITY: PROVOACTIVE APPROACH AND ALGORITHM WAR!
The Minister concluded his speech with the following words:
“Protecting children is a national duty. Our expectation is that these contents are never uploaded and that a proactive approach is taken. The events we watch affect our children and young people. Let’s not expose our children to content that we do not want our own children or ourselves to watch. Social media platforms sometimes even enable money to be made through these contents. Our future and our young people are at stake against this situation that negatively affects society. Therefore, we have to protect them from such content. With the regulation we have prepared, we have implemented this work in order to protect our families and especially our children from harmful content.” “We care about passing it.”

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made the following statements in his statement to A Haber Special News Chief Mehmet Karataş:
“THE PENALTIES OF CHILDREN WHO ARE DRIVEN INTO CRIME WILL BE INCREASED”
“As a state, we first stood together with the families of our deceased brothers and sisters, and just as we made them feel that we are with them, we will take concrete steps from now on, and we will take measures, especially regarding increasing the penalties of children dragged into crime, the social media law, encouraging programs on social and visual media, or social media broadcasts.
If necessary, we will also bring to the agenda the responsibility of some crimes committed by children, especially violent crimes and crimes such as murder, in the sense of neglecting our families as responsibilities of supervision and care in this regard.
“WE ARE CONSIDERING TO MAKE REGULATIONS IN LAW NUMBER 6136”
Likewise, we are considering making regulations in Law No. 6136 in terms of criminal liability for the licensed person in case the guns are kept at home, out of reach of children, even if they are licensed, and if a crime is committed due to illegal storage, we will take steps regarding this.
We are considering regulating acts of murder committed in schools and similar places as qualified manslaughter.
In cases where there are visuals on television that encourage violence, such as encouraging the use of weapons, we should take the necessary steps and especially

Minister Çiftçi: “Content that normalizes violence leaves deep effects”
The school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa had a great impact in the country. Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi made statements on the issue.
Minister Çiftçi included the following statements in his statement:
“The weakening of neighborhood culture, unhealthy peer relationships and social isolation make young people more vulnerable. While in the past, a child’s behavior was the responsibility of not only the family but also the environment, today this sense of common ownership is gradually weakening.
“IT IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THAT TEACHERS TAKE A GUIDING ROLE”
This may cause risks that should be detected early to be overlooked. Schools are not only places of academic knowledge, but also centers of character building. It is critical to strengthen guidance services and for teachers to take on a role of not only teaching but also guiding. Effective operation of early warning mechanisms will ensure that risky behaviors are detected in a timely manner. Increasing loneliness, anger management problems and emotional detachment among young people have an important place in the background of such events. Individuals who cannot express themselves and feel that they are not understood become introverted over time and become more open to sudden, destructive reactions. For this reason, expanding psychosocial support systems is not a choice but a necessity.
