Our wish is that the ceasefire conditions will be strictly implemented and this two-week temporary ceasefire period will be evaluated with constructive steps to evolve into a permanent ceasefire and peace, establishing stability, peace and security in the region. On the other hand, we expect Israel’s attacks, which violate Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and deepen instability in the region, to be stopped immediately. ‘JOINT STUDIES ARE BEING CONDUCTED’

Following Rear Admiral Aktürk’s presentation, the ministry made a written statement regarding the issues on the agenda. In the statement, regarding the technical examination of the C-130 aircraft that crashed on the Azerbaijan-Georgia border, “The activities of the technical examination committee, coordinated by our Air Forces Command, after the accident of the C-130E aircraft with wing number 68-1609 on November 11, 2025, continue uninterruptedly, first in the debris field in Georgia and then in the Kayseri facilities of the 2nd Air Maintenance Factory Directorate, where the debris was brought. Detailed examinations are carried out in a coordinated manner.” “And in this process, joint studies are carried out with the 1st Air Maintenance Factory Directorate Eskişehir, the 12th Air Transport Main Base Command, TAI, MKE and the relevant expert units of the Gendarmerie General Command.”

‘THERE WAS NO DATA FOUND IN THE RECORDER THAT WOULD ENLIGHTEN THE ACCIDENT’

In the statement, it was emphasized that the technical report studies were continuing, and said, “When the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) records were examined, it was determined that everything continued normally in the digital data records in the flight crew’s conversations and in the plane’s systems until the moment of the accident, no malfunction was detected, the incident developed suddenly, the recording ended as a result of the power and data cables of the FDR breaking due to the separation of the aircraft tail cone area from the aircraft body, and therefore there was no additional data in the recorder that would shed light on the accident. “As a result of detailed investigations, it was determined that the engine and propellers were working smoothly until the moment of the accident. No damage to the aircraft fuselage due to the propeller breakage was detected.”

‘NO EXPLOSIVE SURPLUS WAS FOUND’

Regarding the allegations of sabotage or attack, it was stated that “As a result of the examination of the samples taken from the plane wreckage by the Gendarmerie Criminal Directorate, no traces of explosive material were found inside or outside.”

‘BRIZZLE FATIGUE BEHAVIOR HAS BEEN DETECTED’

Regarding the examination of structural damage in the materials, “Additional metallurgical examinations and analyzes regarding the structural damage and traces on the parts taken from the aircraft wreckage are continuing in detail. It is expected that the fracture-section analyzes detected in the materials will be reported, and at this stage, it has been determined that the fractures did not start due to fatigue, but the materials exhibited brittle fatigue behavior in the tensile tests. The news about the nitrogen cylinder in the press does not reflect the facts, in fact the fire extinguishing liquid (Non-Flammable/Explosive Halon) was found in the aircraft. “It was determined that there were two 19-kilogram fire extinguishers (gas) fixed inside the aircraft, and that they were found in the aircraft wreckage intact and without any signs of hitting anything,” it said.

Possible causes of the accident were stated as follows:

“It has been evaluated that one of the axles located on the upper part of both wings, together with its tube filled with flammable/non-explosive carbon dioxide gas, came out of its slot and contacted the left tail-fuselage part of the aircraft, and from there the axle may have grasped the vertical stabilizer, and the impact of the tube may have caused structural damage to the fuselage, vertical and horizontal stabilizers, which may have caused the aircraft to crash, and metallurgical and technical investigations regarding the findings are continuing in the laboratories. Our people and the public are not responding to provocative statements other than official statements.” “As we have stated before, the final report to be prepared after the completion of the relevant processes will be shared with the public in a transparent manner.”

In the statement, the dinghy considered as the cause of the accident; It is stated that it is a life raft that automatically inflates when triggered, used to ensure that the personnel can safely leave the aircraft and survive when the aircraft has to make an emergency landing at sea or a large body of water.

‘PAST VIOLENT ACTS ARE DISTORTED’

In the statement made by the Ministry, regarding the events held on the anniversary of the founding of the Greek terrorist organization EOKA, “Presenting the violent acts carried out by EOKA in the past on the island of Cyprus as a ‘freedom struggle’ with one-sided and distorted narratives harms the efforts for a permanent solution and the current environment of trust on the island. In this context, the statements and events made on the anniversary of the founding of the EOKA terrorist organization are a clear indication that historical facts continue to be distorted and interpreted. The approach in question is based on Cyprus.” The fact that it is conveyed to children and young people in the Greek Cypriot side weakens the basis for mutual dialogue and understanding on the island. The recent provocative actions targeting civilians in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are the current reflections of this distorted mentality. In this context, the Turkish Cypriot side continues its constructive and well-intentioned attitude towards the establishment of a fair, permanent and sustainable solution on the island. “We express once again that we have taken the necessary measures with determination against all kinds of threats and acts of violence. It is of great importance to avoid attempts that may increase tension on the island and to ensure that common sense prevails, in terms of preserving the peace and tranquility provided by the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation.”

More than 100 ministers will meet at the Zero Waste Forum 2026

Published

on

According to the foundation’s statement, the forum to be held at Ataturk Airport is preparing to host the most comprehensive meeting of environment and climate diplomacy before the 31st Session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP31).

The forum, which will bring together ministers and senior decision makers responsible for the environment, climate, energy and sustainability from more than 100 countries around the world, is the largest environment, climate and zero waste meeting before the COP31 process in terms of depth of content, level of participation and power of representation.

The forum, which will be held by the Foundation with the theme “Road to Antalya: Zero Waste as Climate Action”, will be a strategic platform where global environmental policies are shaped with the high-level participation of government representatives, international organizations, academia, private sector and civil society.

The Zero Waste Forum is expected to bring together participants from more than 150 countries, more than 500 corporate stakeholders and more than 5 thousand international guests in Istanbul.

The Zero Waste Movement, which was launched in 2017 under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, the Honorary President of the Foundation, quickly went beyond being a national environmental policy and turned into a model set as an example on a global scale. With the declaration of March 30 as “International Zero Waste Day” at the United Nations General Assembly, this approach, shaped under the leadership of Türkiye, is now directly associated with multilateral diplomacy, development policies and climate negotiations.

In this context, the forum to be held in Istanbul will create a multi-stakeholder transformation ground by bringing together public institutions, local governments, academia, private sector representatives, financial institutions and international organizations.

In the ministerial sessions of the forum, which will become one of the strongest meeting points of global environmental diplomacy, concrete policy proposals on topics such as circular economy policies, combating plastic pollution, harmonization of global standards in waste management, climate finance and green investments, and capacity building mechanisms for developing countries will be discussed.

Within the scope of Zero Waste Forum 2026, different dimensions of the zero waste approach will be comprehensively evaluated in numerous panels and sessions that will be held simultaneously for 3 days.

Highlights of the program include prevention of food waste, organic waste management and reduction of methane emissions, circular economy financing and sustainable investment tools, zero waste practices and local management models in cities, plastic pollution and global policy processes, reuse systems and mechanisms that encourage product repair, waste prevention strategies in energy systems and circular transformation in the textile and fashion industry.

In addition, technical and sectoral topics such as the role of young people in system design, consumption habits and behavioral change, the impact of education and cultural policies on zero waste, construction and demolition waste, electronic waste management, packaging systems and industrial transformation will also be discussed in different sessions.

This comprehensive content structure makes the forum a holistic platform not only at the policy level, but also with the sector, finance and social transformation dimensions.

This year, a special Youth Session will be held within the scope of the forum to strengthen the active participation of young people. Young people’s solution suggestions, innovative approaches and policy contributions in the field of zero waste and circular economy will be directly brought together with international stakeholders.

This session aims to position young people as active actors in policy production processes.

WILL DETERMINE THE GLOBAL AGENDA BEFORE COP31

The forum is positioned as the most comprehensive platform where countries will clarify their positions and strengthen the basis for a common declaration before COP31, which will be held in Antalya on 9-20 November, hosted and chaired by Türkiye.

In particular, the topics of strengthening national contribution declarations, the role of the waste sector in carbon reduction, climate action plans of cities and universities, and the integration of zero waste practices into climate policies will be discussed in a way that will directly contribute to global negotiation processes.

In this respect, the Zero Waste Forum is considered as one of the strategic thresholds of global environmental diplomacy before COP31. In terms of the number of participants, the diversity of countries represented and the depth of content, the forum claims to be the most comprehensive international organization with a zero waste theme.

The program will include “High Level Ministerial Sessions, Global Good Practice Presentations, Youth and Local Government Sessions, Private Sector and Green Finance Panels and Exhibition Areas”. In addition, circular production models, advanced recycling technologies and sustainable design solutions will be presented to international stakeholders in a large exhibition area.

“WE HAVE TO POSITION ZERO WASTE APPROACH AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF CLIMATE ACTION”

Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Foundation and COP31 High Level Climate Champion, whose views were included in the statement, stated that the forum is a strategic preparation platform that brings the zero waste approach to the center of global climate negotiations.

Ağırbaş said:

“As we move towards the COP31 process, we have to position the zero waste approach as an integral part of climate action. This comprehensive meeting we will hold in Istanbul will bring together governments, local governments, financial institutions, private sector and young people on the same ground, creating a strong cooperation infrastructure that not only discusses problems but also develops applicable and measurable policy recommendations. Our goal is to make the zero waste approach one of the determining components of the global climate agenda and to contribute to COP31 with concrete, applicable outputs.”
