Minister Göktaş: We will not allow hate speech against headscarved women to normalize

Published

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş attended the ALLY for Future: Young Muslim Women Leadership Program in Ankara. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Musa Kulaklıkaya, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Social Affairs Director Abdul Falilat Ajoke, NUN Education and Culture Foundation Chairman Esra Albayrak and judges from 24 OIC member countries took part in the program.

Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş expressed his satisfaction with the realization of the 3rd ALLY for Future: Young Muslim Women Leadership Program and said, “As Turkey, this meeting, which took place within the scope of our 51st OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Term Presidency, carries the legacy of female leadership of the Islamic world to today. I believe that this program will contribute to young Muslim women taking a more active role in decision-making processes. At the same time, it is an important ground for them to produce more equipped, self-confident and strategic answers to the global issues of today and the future.” “will create,” he said.

‘PIONEERS BUILDING THE FUTURE’

Stating that female leadership for the Islamic geography is a deep-rooted truth that has existed for centuries, Minister Göktaş said, “This truth has always shown itself in science, wisdom, family, society, foundation tradition, production and decision-making processes. It is possible to see the strongest traces of this deep-rooted truth in different periods of our history. The business ethics of Hazrat Khadija in Mecca and the scientific center established by Fatima al-Fihri in North Africa clearly reveal the place of Muslim women in the construction of civilization.” The state administration of Sultan Razia in South Asia and Nene Hatun’s determined and courageous stance in defense of the country are strong reflections of the same deep-rooted truth from different periods and different geographies. The future we want to build today is based on this strong legacy. Artificial intelligence, which is becoming more and more established in our lives day by day, becomes the tool of a more just future when women are at the tables that design and manage it. In the face of wars, migrations and poverty, women revive people, families and society. Women’s awareness of trust in the face of women reveals a fair understanding of development that will carry today’s resources to the future. When family, identity and belonging are faced with challenges, the existence of women turns into a fundamental force that keeps society together. Therefore, we see women as pioneers who build the future by kneading justice with compassion, knowledge with responsibility, and tradition with innovation. Despite this, we can still unfortunately encounter hate speech targeting women who wear headscarves, against fundamental rights and freedoms, social peace and coexistence. “It is a clear attack on our culture. And we will never allow this understanding to normalize.”

Minister Göktaş continued his speech as follows:

“Women, who were once excluded from university gates, public institutions and working life due to their beliefs and clothes, have today become the most essential subjects of Türkiye’s development march. While the rate of female students going to university was 14 percent in 2002, it increased to 53 percent in 2025. Today, one in every two university students is a woman. Similarly, the rate of female lecturers, which was 36 percent in 2002, has reached 53 percent today. This table shows that women are not only in access to education but also in science. Women’s representation, which had difficulty in exceeding the 5 percent level for many years throughout the history of the Republic, has now moved to a much higher level, reaching 19.8 percent. The number of women ambassadors, which was 14 in 2002, has reached an extremely strong level. Today, 40 percent of our judges and prosecutors are women, and the female employment rate is 35 percent. The rate increased to 31.2 percent. We are carrying out activities that will make all these gains permanent with the ‘Women’s Empowerment Strategy Document and Action Plan’ covering the period 2024-2028. All our institutions continue to work with great devotion for the empowerment of women in agriculture, industry, energy, education, health and all areas. On the other hand, we make women’s entrepreneurship more visible all over the country with the collaborations we have established with the public, civil society and private sector. “With the vision of ‘Women’s Move in Sustainable Development’ we have announced, we are creating an entrepreneurship ecosystem based on innovation and efficiency. In this regard, we are working to ensure that women and girls become the leaders of today and tomorrow in fields such as green economy, technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation. In the 2025 Year of the Family, we supported women’s labor, entrepreneurship and production power with a strong will for development that extends from the family to the society. For us, the empowerment of women and the empowerment of the family are the guarantee of each other.”

ALLY for Future Founder Esra Albayrak: The role assigned to Muslim women has never changed

Published

on

“ALLY for Future: Young Muslim Women Leadership Program” started in Ankara.

Albayrak, who gave a speech titled “Women Making a Difference: Examples of Leadership in the Struggle for Human Rights” at the event held in the capital, showed the participants the images of a doctor and nurse performing surgery with a phone light, an engineer trying to bring clean water with limited resources, and a mother trying to maintain her child’s routine in a war environment.

Pointing out that women who lead society under the most difficult conditions are almost never seen in the world’s dominant leadership narrative, he said, “Why don’t we see women in this dominant narrative?” Emphasizing that they had to ask the question, Albayrak said that the answer dates back to the founding of the modern world.

Stating that those who say they discovered the world outside themselves spread their own maps on the people living there, Albayrak continued his words as follows:

“These maps, of course, did not just show the land. These maps determined who was the center, who was the periphery, who was the subject, who was the object, who was considered civilized and who was primitive. Those who placed themselves at the zero point of mind and civilization defined everyone by their distance from this center. The further you are from the center, the more incomplete you are, the more you need to be defined and the more you need to be rescued. The clearest summary of this view was made by Rudyard Kipling. We can say that he wrote the manifesto of colonialism. The poet, I mean the poet in quotation marks, described the people living in the lands they colonized as half-demons and half-humans. If you think about it a little, you realize that these people must be controlled. If they are children, these people must be educated because they cannot think on their own, they cannot think of their own good. In both cases, these people were always seen as needing someone else to speak on their behalf. We cannot see this as an ordinary poetic play on words. It was a way of seeing, a map of action.

Albayrak said that more than a century has passed, words have changed, but unfortunately the maps remain.

“THE ROLE GIVEN TO MUSLIM WOMEN HAS NEVER CHANGED”

Albayrak pointed out that university chairs, the language of the media, and even the discourses of human rights and freedom continue with polished versions of this colonial understanding, and said:

“The role assigned to the Muslim woman on this map has never changed. She is either a victim to be saved or a mother to be blamed. Very recently, during the genocide that we have been watching live for the last 3 years, I came across an article in one of the most famous European magazines. It shares a statistic. A statistic explaining why there are so many child deaths in Gaza. This statistic shows the following. Fertility rates… In a sense, the conclusion that the magazine expects us to draw is that the reason for many child deaths in Gaza is women’s fertility. That’s all.” We are talking about a map that can become brutal. I am talking about a map that does not consider a third possibility, for example, the possibility of being the subject of one’s own life, as possible or appropriate. We saw this in its most naked form after October 7. Unfortunately, in some of the most prominent publications in the world, the topic turned around gender roles, the female body and freedom. Again, the responsibility was placed on the Palestinian woman, that engineer, that mother. “What would have happened if it had been seen? If it had been seen, the illusion of that map would have been broken because the map did not even allow for the possibility that those women could be leaders in those difficult conditions without compromising their own values and without expecting a reward.”

Emphasizing that they can undertake any work that works for the honor and freedom of women, Albayrak made the following evaluations:

“Our objection is to the transformation of this discourse, which is presented here as universal rights, into a rising apparatus of domination for a single type of woman, a single type of person, under the guise of universality. Our objection is to the fact that a woman’s choice is accepted as a free choice only when it confirms the dominant narrative and mostly the liberal and secular narrative. The orientalist imagination has always carried the veil to a possible exoticism or seen it as a symbol of domination. We raise the possibility that veiling may be a woman’s own choice.” He found it inappropriate from the very beginning. Think about it, it is a narrative that speaks in the name of freedom, but it sees the veil carried by millions of women as a tool that can only be worn by someone else’s pressure, and it has the right to speak on behalf of those women, because in that narrative, free and critical thought is only secular. Believing and surrendering can only happen if it conflicts with free thought.”

Pointing to what had previously happened in Afghanistan, Iraq, today in Gaza and Iran, Albayrak emphasized that the heinous attack in which a girls’ primary school in Minab was destroyed by missiles under the US and Israeli bombardment, and more than 100 girls, most of whom were between the ages of 7 and 12, were killed, was still very fresh in our minds.

“MY GREATEST EFFORT WAS TRYING TO REDRAW THAT MAP”

Pointing out that every story of the Western-centered world that begins with the promise of “rescue” ends with the drama of women and children, Albayrak said, “I am not someone looking at this picture from the outside. The identity I carry as a Muslim woman, this identity that radically shapes the way I understand the world and take action, stands at the center of my story. My work on education, my years spent in civil society, my stance on this podium today, all of them are the direction in which the same identity and experience carries me. I am one of the women who want to be defined on that map.” “I am one and my greatest effort throughout my life has been to try to redraw that map with my own hands, my faith and my own values.” he said.

Emphasizing that this problem should be approached with a playmaker’s mind rather than responding with anger, Albayrak said, “We must enter into a new language, a new way of thinking, a new understanding, a new vision of the future that is nourished by its own cultural and intellectual ground. We must put forward a proposal for a multi-centered world that can look at each other at eye level. Our ground on which to create this proposal is not empty. Our civilization is full of very strong female representatives who founded and direct it.” he said.

“NONE OF THEM WAS SILENCED OR EXCLUDED”

Dr. Esra Albayrak, Hz. He pointed out that none of the female companions and wives of the Prophet, who left their mark on Islamic history, especially Khadija, were silenced, excluded, or crushed under victimization.

On the contrary, Albayrak explained that these women were founding subjects who transformed the place they were in, in commerce, in scientific assemblies, in the very center of administration and social life, with their own beliefs and values, and said:

“If we can clear our minds from the stereotypes imposed on us, the image of the victimized Muslim woman will disappear when we look at our own history. The same women open up a horizon for us beyond the modern career-oriented narrative. Because if you pay attention, the story of none of them gains value in wealth or status. What makes them history is the brave decisions they made in difficult moments while remaining true to their values. For us, a leader is not the one who gets the most appreciation or admiration. In today’s words, the leader is not the one who gets the most ‘likes’. The leader is the one who builds meaning, inspiration “He is the one who looks at the picture from a different perspective, sometimes from a step behind. He is the one who can be trusted to take responsibility when things go wrong. Leadership is not about accumulating titles, but about creating your own map. It is possible to see this spirit in that doctor from Gaza who left his own country and came here.”

“WE WITNESS THAT TROUBLES CREATE AN OPPORTUNITY”

ALLY for Future Founder Albayrak said that young women came to the program from 25 countries and that they met for the 3rd time in the women’s leadership program, which they founded with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Women’s Advisory Council, which they worked to establish 10 years ago.

Emphasizing that their languages, colors and cultures may seem different, but they look at the horizon with the same faith and shoulder the burden of the same age together, Albayrak said:

“On the one hand, we, women, bear the weight of wars, migrations, and rising Islamophobia the most, as in every period of history. On the other hand, we are struggling to express ourselves within a map drawn by someone else’s definitions. I see many young women among you who feel the weight of these burdens intensely on their shoulders. Dear young friends, remember that that burden is your only opportunity. It is your treasure, not the one that oppresses you, but the one that lifts you up, makes you walk tall, and creates the steel will to stand against the unfair world. The direction of history. When you look at those who changed their lives, you see those who have the courage to lift the burden on their shoulders, those who have a problem, those who have a problem that will get them out of bed early every morning. We may not all have to pay the same price, but we must have a cause, a problem for which we are willing to risk death.

Underlining that he is not talking about artificial problems imported from the agendas of other centers, Albayrak said, “I am talking about the cause of establishing our own story, constructing our own narrative, and making an understanding that sees humans valuable just because they are human, prevailing on earth.” he said.

“This problem is much more critical in our current period because we are currently standing on two great thresholds of history.” Albayrak said:

“We talk about the troubles, but we witness that the same troubles create an opportunity. On one side, Gaza… It clearly shows us the moral bankruptcy of the established global order and so-called universal values. That map we have been talking about from the beginning is literally cracking up before our eyes. This is a historical threshold. On the other hand, it is a beginning that has not yet been written. Artificial intelligence, the technocolonial order that we see can be rebuilt with artificial intelligence. Humanity is in the beginning days of perhaps the greatest transformation since the printing press. This transformation is either the existing unjust system or the beginning of it.” “The old map is collapsing, the new map has not been drawn yet, the moral codes have not been written yet, but we may have the opportunity to be at the table of the new order. We, as young people, must be candidates for this.”

Albayrak thanked the Ministry of Family and Social Services for bringing them together in the program, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other institutions for their support.

Bilal Erdoğan spoke at the award ceremony of “Digital Content Development Project with Artificial Intelligence Themed Our Prophet”

Bilal Erdoğan, with the contributions of the General Directorate of Religious Education of the Ministry of National Education and the Science Dissemination Foundation and the Society. In his speech at the “Grand Award Ceremony of the Our Prophet Themed Digital Content Development Project with Artificial Intelligence” held at the Grand Çamlıca Mosque in memory of the 1500th anniversary of the birth of Muhammad, he stated that it is very important for children to develop academically.

Expressing that they want young people to have goals that cover the Turkish and Islamic world and the entire world, Erdoğan said, “What kind of people will come to the fore in the future, what kind of characteristics will be sought after?” He noted that when they think about it, people who live by the moral values of the Prophet will be sought after.

Erdoğan pointed out that individuals should be raised who can be trusted, loved, chatted with, communicated with, spent time with, who could do a job from beginning to end, who could be part of the team from time to time and who could be the leader of the team from time to time, and said:

“In times when artificial intelligence and robots will do many things, people will again be looking for people who are truly honorable, who live this, and who can reflect this in their lives. Therefore, I think raising individuals who love our Prophet and take them as an example in their lives is the greatest service we can do to humanity. This project is a step towards this. It is a program that both develops our young people academically, encourages them to use artificial intelligence tools powerfully, and provides the basis for them to know our Prophet more closely and love him.”

Referring to the Türkiye Century Education Model, Erdoğan said that the model is a project that aims at active learning by making students active rather than passive.

Bilal Erdoğan stated that with this model, it is aimed to raise students who not only sit in the classroom and listen to their teachers, but also learn by doing projects with their teachers, and said, “Hopefully, when the Turkey Century Education Model is implemented with all our classes, we will see the results reflected in even more of our graduates within 1-2 years. We can evaluate this from how positive the teachers’ reactions to the Turkey Century Education Model are. We see that their time in the classroom is now more enjoyable and more interactive for them. We see that the student’s teacher is more enjoyable.” “We see that an educational environment has been created where teachers listen more willingly, follow and act together, and where teachers enjoy more interaction with their students.” made his assessment.

Yusuf Tülün, Chairman of the Science Dissemination Society, explained that humanity is going through a new era of technological transformation and said, “What we need in this process is a youth who not only uses technology, but also produces, develops and directs it for the benefit of humanity. The artificial intelligence-supported digital content development project with the theme of ‘Our Prophet’ is exactly a product of this goal. You have transformed artificial intelligence, one of the current technological opportunities of our age, into a meaningful service tool that conveys the life, morality and universal message of our Prophet to new generations. “You brought together technology with value and innovation with wisdom with the animations and digital content you put out.” he said.

On the other hand, allegations that the salary of the mayor’s office driver was not covered by the municipal budget, but by money obtained from people working in the municipality, were also included in the investigation file. It was evaluated that the expression “escrow”, which was frequently used in the interviews, referred to money transfers.

CLAIMS OF REMOVAL OF SEALS AND SUSPENSION OF INSPECTIONS

It was claimed that although a workplace did not have a license in the file, its seal was removed by acting as if it were licensed, and that in some addresses, police teams were not sent to inspect as a result of instructions. “WE ARE ENTERING A BUSY SUMMER SEASON”

Stating that they have entered a busy summer period, especially the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, Çelik said, “We will commemorate our heroic martyrs with mercy on July 15. We will salute our heroic veterans once again with gratitude. I stated that it will be evaluated in many aspects and the commemoration will be held from both state and political dimensions. Preparations for the climate summit are continuing. There are preparations for the anniversary of the founding of our party. An intense domestic and foreign political agenda is ahead of us, we are evaluating all of these.” Ömer Çelik answered the questions of the press members after his statements.

BREAKING NEWS I AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik: Our presidential candidate is Mr. Erdogan

“WE ARE ALREADY SEEING RADICAL STATEMENTS TO SABOTATE THE AGREEMENT”

When a journalist asked about his evaluations regarding the memorandum of understanding signed between the USA and Iran and the negotiation process that will continue for 60 days, Çelik said, “From the beginning, it has been seen how short-sighted the evaluations put forward by Türkiye and our President are. The result of this attack has also made international law pay great prices. At this point, this agreement is a stage where the ceasefire will turn into permanent peace. Many topics will be discussed within the 60-day period. The process will proceed by addressing these topics.” But we are faced with an extremely fragile situation. There are many issues, from the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to the lifting of the US blockade. In fact, we see that the ministers of the genocide government in Israel are already making radical statements to sabotage this process and to take a strong stance against the Israeli aggression that threatens the process. The warnings of the US Vice President on this issue should be underlined. “The point reached is important for world peace. This 60-day period should be evaluated in a way that is free of tensions and threats. There is no way forward by increasing tensions or threats,” he said.

“Our work on terrorism-free Turkey continues uninterruptedly. Very important progress has been made within Türkiye. We are now at a new stage. A legal framework will emerge to ensure that the requirements of the commission report are fulfilled, to lay down arms and to completely end the existence of the terrorist organization and its illegal structures. We think that the emergence of this legal framework should be evaluated on the agenda of the Parliament as soon as possible. This is important in terms of Türkiye’s national security, Turkey Century targets, terrorism-free region and terrorism-free Turkey targets. For this legal framework, all political It is extremely important for parties and circles to contribute. The opinions of those who support, those who contribute, and those who try to contribute in an equitable manner are very important. Turkey has the ability to overcome this issue with the common will, the experience of the state, and the values of the nation. Our experience over the centuries has a high capacity to bring these processes to an end without any compromise, without compromising the qualities of our state and the values of our nation. A legal regulation should be made within this framework. “After its emergence, it has been determined by the state institutions that the terrorist organization has laid down its weapons, and this process will be completed with the approval of this determination by the National Security Council and the appreciation of our President.”
