Notable messages from the ambassadors of NATO countries before the Ankara Summit: We are grateful to Türkiye’s leadership!
Foreign mission representatives of NATO member countries in Ankara gave a message of “unity and solidarity” regarding the “2026 NATO Ankara Summit” to be held on July 7-8.
Italian Ambassador to Ankara Giuseppe Manzo, Dutch Ambassador to Ankara Joep Wijnands, Polish Ambassador to Ankara Maciej Lang, Bulgarian Ambassador to Ankara Anguel Tcholakov and Latvian Ambassador to Ankara Bahtijors Hasans made evaluations to AA about the NATO Ankara Summit to be held on 7-8 July.
Italy’s Ambassador to Ankara, Manzo, stated that the Ankara Summit was held at a critical time for common security and said, “We are grateful for Türkiye’s leadership, we support it and we are determined to work together for a successful summit that will address all the threats we face.” he said.
Referring to the deployment of an Italian SAMP/T Air Defense System to strengthen the air defense of the Alliance, Manzo emphasized that he was proud to actively contribute to the security of friend and ally Türkiye.
“Türkiye’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE ALLIANCE IS DEFINITELY VERY IMPORTANT”
Dutch Ambassador to Ankara Wijnands reminded that the NATO Ankara Summit was held in The Hague in 2025 and said that the summit will be held in Ankara this year as well.

Emphasizing that the summit in The Hague is aimed at increasing the financial obligations of the allies and allocating more budget for joint defense, Wijnands said, “This year, it will be about how and in what area we will use this budget.” he said.
Pointing out that security is never achieved automatically, Wijnands said, “Turkey knows this very well in the volatile region it is in. Türkiye’s contribution to the Alliance, which has the 2nd largest armed forces in NATO and a large defense industry, is absolutely very important.” he said.
Wijnands pointed out that their strongest asset is unity, and therefore, at the Ankara Summit, they should demonstrate an unwavering determination towards collective defense, support for Kiev in the Russia-Ukraine War and the common fight against terrorism.
“When we remain united, we are the strongest alliance in the world,” Wijnands concluded. He concluded with the statement:
“NATO’S UNSHAKEABLE WILL”
Poland’s Ambassador to Ankara, Lang, underlined that the summit was an “exceptional” meeting that was not only important for Ankara but also of paramount importance for the Alliance as a whole.
On this occasion, Lang expressed his gratitude to the Turkish hosts for their superior efforts, hospitality, sincere cooperation and exemplary coordination and capabilities, and said, “I have full faith that the message of unity and solidarity from Ankara will once again confirm NATO’s unshakable will and determination to act jointly in the face of changing security conditions.” he said.
Lang wished that the summit would be beneficial and productive for the entire Alliance.
“TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER”
Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Ankara, Tcholakov, said:
“At a time when uncertainties, unprecedented threats and challenges to the international order are increasing, this summit offers an extremely valuable and important opportunity to clearly reaffirm our unity among allies, demonstrate our determination and solidarity, and demonstrate our unwavering commitment to our fundamental principles and values. We are stronger together.”
“THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT WE STAND TOGETHER AND NATO’S UNITY IS VITALLY IMPORTANT”
Latvia’s Ambassador to Ankara Hasans pointed out that the NATO Ankara Summit to be held on July 7-8 is an opportunity to show that the commitments made have been fulfilled concretely, and said that they have already seen some progress.
Reminding that his country is the first ally to legally commit to allocating at least 5 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) to defense starting from 2027, Hasans said:
“This demonstrates our determination. The summit should reaffirm NATO’s security, unity, collective defence, the strengthening of Article 5 and transatlantic ties. Allies are increasing defense spending as Russia, in addition to terrorism, remains the greatest threat to the transatlantic region. Europe and Canada are already doing more.”
Emphasizing the need to continue strengthening the defense industry, Hasans said, “The support given to Ukraine is of vital importance, because Ukraine’s security directly contributes to the security of the entire transatlantic area.” he said.
Pointing out that the support should be predictable and sustainable in the long term, Hasans said, “Latvia has been allocating 0.25 percent of its GDP to Ukraine for several years and we will continue this. The important thing is that we stand together and the unity of NATO is vital.” he said.

AK Party General Secretary Eyyüp Kadir İnan: We kept the reputation of our nation and the interests of our country above all else.
AK Party General Secretary Eyyüp Kadir İnan used the following statements in his post on his social media account:
“WE DID NOT PUT ANY ACCOUNTS BEFORE Türkiye’S INTERESTS”
“Our nation has trusted us in every election for 25 years and has always chosen the AK Party.
Today, we are witnessing one of the strongest results of the struggle we have been carrying out with determination for a quarter of a century and the trust our nation has placed in us.
We kept our nation’s reputation and our country’s interests above all else; We did not put any other consideration before Türkiye’s interests.
We have never forgotten how sacred the nation we represent is and the sphere of influence of this great country that we have the responsibility of governing.
“IN OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY, THE WORDS WE SAY ON A GLOBAL SCALE CONTINUE TO GET STRONGER”
On the 25th anniversary of the establishment of our AK Party, our country is hosting one of the most important summits of NATO. In our 25th year, the words we say on a global scale continue to grow stronger.
AK Party; With the democratic reforms it has carried out, the works and services it has implemented, and its vision extending from the defense industry to diplomacy, it has made Türkiye a country that is at play in its region and whose words are listened to carefully in the world.
The fact that our country is hosting one of NATO’s most important summits today is the natural result of the strong foreign policy, trustworthy leadership and stable management approach that has been built with determination for 25 years.
Unfortunately, some people thought it was a skill to complain about Türkiye in foreign newspaper columns, but they were wrong again. Those who try to denigrate their own country in the pages of the Financial Times will not understand this great march rising with the will of the nation, nor the strategic power that Türkiye has achieved.
Our reference is not the anti-Turkey statements made by a failed politician or a so-called leader to the foreign press; “The support of our beloved nation, the strong leadership put forward by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the goals of the Türkiye Century.”

Minister Gürlek: “No one can point a finger at Turkish courts”
In his post on his social media account, Minister Gürlek reacted to the words of European Parliament (EP) Turkey Rapporteur Nacho Sanchez Amor regarding the Turkish judiciary. Emphasizing that the Republic of Türkiye is an independent, sovereign and democratic state of law, Gürlek reminded that judicial power is exercised by independent and impartial courts on behalf of the Turkish nation.
“IT IS AN UNACCEPTABLE ATTITUDE”
Gürlek pointed out that the monitoring of judicial processes in Türkiye by international circles is an indicator of the country’s democratic maturity and transparency, and said, “On the other hand, making judgment-like statements about ongoing trials at the courthouse is an unacceptable attitude that targets the Turkish judiciary and tries to put judicial processes under political pressure.” made his assessment. Gürlek underlined that Türkiye’s judicial processes proceed according to the Constitution, laws, evidence in the file and the discretion of independent courts, not according to the political agendas, ideological expectations or lobbying activities of foreign parliamentarians, and said:
“NO ONE CAN WALK A FINGER AT TURKISH COURTS”
“I am stating clearly here that no one can point their finger at the Turkish courts, try to influence the ongoing trials, put pressure on the Turkish judiciary or intervene in the internal affairs of our country. Under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey has come to this day by protecting its national will against tutelage centers, coup enthusiasts, terrorist organizations and circles trying to teach democracy lessons from outside. Turkey is a great country with the power to enforce its own law, the will to protect its democracy and the sovereignty to determine its future. “We will not allow any political agenda that targets our national will, our judicial organization and our rule of law.”
The Republic of Türkiye is an independent, sovereign and democratic state of law. Judicial power is exercised by independent and impartial courts on behalf of the Turkish nation. The fact that the judicial processes in our country are followed by international circles is a sign of Türkiye’s democratic maturity and transparency.
