“Smoke-Free Campus” message from YÖK President Özvar: “Addictions are a serious threat to society”

Published

on

The promotion program of the project, prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, YÖK and the Turkish Green Crescent Society, and implemented with the aim of disseminating a tobacco-free and healthy life culture in universities, was held at the headquarters of the Green Crescent in Sepetçiler Kasrı.

Speaking here, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that the state and relevant institutions show great sensitivity in the fight against tobacco, alcohol, drugs and similar harmful substances, and that these addictions pose a serious threat to society, especially young people.

Özvar stated that addiction usually begins with a small experience or environmental impact, and has negative effects on the person’s health, education, family life and future.

Smokeless Campus message from YÖK President Özvar: Addictions are a serious threat to society

Emphasizing that the fight against addiction is not an area that can be postponed, neglected or left to the responsibility of a single institution, Özvar said, “On the contrary, this fight is a national issue that requires all stakeholders, from family to school, from university to public institutions, from non-governmental organizations to local governments, to assume common responsibility.” he said.

Özvar said that legal regulations, inspections and rules are important in the fight against addiction, but they are not sufficient alone.

Stating that strong awareness, accurate information, psychosocial support, healthy life alternatives and inclusive policies focusing on young people are equally important, Özvar said, “We need to offer our young people environments that will open the doors to a healthy, productive, meaningful and strong life. Our universities have a very special position in this regard. Campuses are not only places where classes are taught, but also living spaces where young people establish friendships, acquire social habits, develop life preferences, and build themselves with cultural and sports activities.” he said.

“REGULATIONS WILL BE MADE TO PREVENT THE USE OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS”

Stating that the concept of “Smoke-Free Campus, Healthy Future” is important in this context, Özvar said, “We see this study not only as an application that limits tobacco use on campuses, but also as a step that protects the health of our youth, makes the fight against addiction a part of the institutional culture, and positions our universities as the center of healthy life.” he said.

Özvar said that the Smoke-Free Campus Implementation Guide, prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, YÖK and the Turkish Green Crescent Society, offers an extremely valuable road map and continued as follows:

“In the guide, two basic frameworks have been created for higher education institutions: absolute criteria and sustainability criteria. Absolute criteria refer to the minimum and mandatory application headings for the smoke-free campus concept to be established at the institutional level. Sustainability criteria aim at the continuity, traceability and continuous improvement of these practices. Within this framework, regulations will be made to prevent the use of tobacco products, taking into account closed areas as well as open areas and annexes on campuses. If there are areas where tobacco use is allowed, they will be in the most limited number possible, from building entrances, “It will be planned away from busy pedestrian axes, social areas and areas where students are concentrated. The sale, advertising, promotion and visibility of tobacco products will be prevented within the campus borders. Our students, academic and administrative staff will be given periodic training on the harms of tobacco use and passive exposure.”

“THE MAIN PURPOSE IS NOT TO EXCLUDE INDIVIDUALS WHO USE TOBACCO, BUT TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO QUIT”

Explaining that universities should also support their students and employees in quitting tobacco products, Özvar stated that it is also aimed to create accessible support mechanisms in cooperation with smoking cessation polyclinics, counseling lines and relevant health institutions.

Özvar said, “The main purpose here is not to exclude individuals who use tobacco, but to encourage them to quit, to direct them to the right support mechanisms and to establish a healthy life culture on campuses. In this context, it is also important to expand the Young Green Crescent Clubs in our universities. Reaching out to young people, strengthening peer solidarity and making our students active subjects in the fight against addiction are critical for the success of this process.” made his assessment.

Stating that they aim to strengthen the healthy life culture in universities and create campuses where students and employees are more involved in sports with the Sports Friendly Campus Program implemented by YÖK, Özvar stated that young people face not only harmful habits but also risks such as sedentary life, screen addiction and unhealthy nutrition.

Özvar stated that within the scope of the program, universities will be evaluated within the framework of many criteria such as sports infrastructures, participation levels in sports activities, effectiveness of student clubs, work to combat addiction, activities supporting mental health, access for disabled individuals, safety and sustainability of facilities.

Stating that the “Smoke-Free Campus” and “Sports-Friendly Campus” projects are two important steps that complement each other, Özvar said, “One aims to protect our youth from harmful habits, and the other aims to strengthen a healthy, active and productive life culture.” he said.

Özvar said to the young people, “Above all and above all, for your own physical and spiritual health, I request you to stay away from all kinds of bad habits and addictions, especially tobacco products. I wish you to build your life not in the shadow of addictions, but in the light of science, education, sports, culture, art and production. You are our most precious treasure, the future of our country. Your good will be the good of your families and our country.” He advised.

“EVERY YEAR, WE LOSE 120 THOUSAND PEOPLE DUE TO SMOKING-RELATED DISEASES”

Mehmet Dinç, Chairman of the Turkish Green Crescent Society, said that protecting young people from tobacco addiction is a vital issue, therefore the project is very important.

Stating that the worst thing that can happen to a society is addiction, Dinç said, “All addictions cause multi-dimensional destruction for our people. We cannot choose one over the other. We cannot see one as more innocent than the other. While we struggle hard with one, we cannot weaken our fight against the other.” he said

Dinç said, “Every year, we lose 120 thousand people due to smoking-related diseases. Also, let me just talk about the damage it causes to the environment. One cigarette butt poisons 600 liters of water.” he said.

Emphasizing that they have a serious determination in the fight against smoking, Dinç said, “We can never step back in this fight. Today, the age that the addiction industry targets is young people between the ages of 15-25, which is the most critical period for us in the fight against addiction. Protecting that age group means protecting a large number of our people. We carry out a wide range of studies together with our universities to ensure that our young people have the right information and to spread the fight against addiction to the entire base.” he said.

Dinç stated that he was very excited about the “Smoke-Free Campus, Healthy Future Project” and added:

“Addiction, especially cigarette addiction, is never the solution to problems. On the contrary, it increases the problem. It is never a tool for socialization. On the contrary, it is a tool for poor socialization, having a bad environment, and having an unhealthy environment. For this reason, a very serious study had to be done on the fight against smoking, especially in universities. I hope this study will become a very concrete pioneer of the studies to be done from now on. At this point, we have taken an important step today regarding creating an independent youth culture.”

Israel should not be allowed to shed blood

Published

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Şerif, who came to Türkiye upon his invitation, at Vahdettin Mansion. After bilateral and inter-delegation meetings, President Erdoğan and Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif held a joint press conference. Erdogan gave important messages:

We exchanged views with my brother, Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on regional and global issues, especially our bilateral relations. First of all, the whole world took a deep breath thanks to the calm provided by the Islamabad agreement. The news reflected in the international press in recent days reveals the difficulties in which the negotiation process is being carried out. I congratulate once again my dear brother, Prime Minister Sharif, and our Pakistani brothers, who contributed greatly to achieving this result. We have especially supported and continue to support every step that will contribute to reducing tension in our region and solving problems through diplomacy.

We carefully follow the Israeli administration’s provocations to undermine the agreement. The Zionist massacre squad, which depends on the continuation of conflicts in the region for its political survival, does not leave Lebanon and Syria alone. Israeli occupation forces continue their unlawful and inhumane attacks against the oppressed people in Gaza. We must not allow the current Israeli government, which is addicted to war, to drown our geography in the smell of gunpowder and blood again. Türkiye wants a climate where all residents of the region live in peace and security, regardless of their faith. We make every effort to establish such a climate. On this occasion, I find it useful to underline the following issue. No solution that is not powered by the will and contribution of the countries in the region can be permanent. We will continue our solidarity with brother countries, especially Pakistan, to strengthen peace, stability and prosperity in our region.

Our solidarity with Pakistan continues in every field. Today, we discussed the steps we can take to further develop our commercial and investment relations in a way that befits this solidarity. We confirmed our goal of increasing our trade volume to the level of 5 billion dollars that we previously determined. Our Ministries of Commerce are working on the Special Economic Zone, which is planned to be established especially for our business people in Karachi. Similarly, negotiations are continuing on expanding the scope of our preferential trade agreement. I believe that the business forum that Mr. Şerif attended today will also contribute to our relations in terms of investment and trade. We also encourage our investors to engage in more activities in Pakistan. Our cooperation in the field of defense industry, one of the most important elements of our economic relations, is developing day by day with new projects.

COOPERATION IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES, ENERGY AND TRANSPORTATION

I believe that these projects, which we are implementing step by step, will strengthen Pakistan’s strength. We want to deepen our cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of energy, transportation, critical minerals and information technologies. Today, we reaffirmed our determination with Mr. Prime Minister. As I end my words with these thoughts, I hope that today’s meeting and the decisions we made will be beneficial.

Türkiye STANDED BY US LIKE A ROCK
Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif: Yunus Emre expresses very beautifully that the heart is the most beautiful house for friends. As two brother countries, two friendly nations, we always feel at home with each other. It has been passed down from generation to generation in the spirit of generosity and brotherhood. Türkiye stood by Pakistan like a rock during difficult times. Thanks to President Erdoğan’s dynamic and courageous leadership, Türkiye has undergone great change and transformation in recent years. In this process, Türkiye has not only become stronger within itself, but also increased its influence and weight in global issues. The economic partnership between the two countries will progress on a stronger basis. Türkiye’s success is Pakistan’s success, our goal is always common. We may live in different lands, but the same light illuminates us. Long live the friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan.

After the welcoming ceremony at Vahdettin Mansion, President Erdoğan and Pakistan Prime Minister Şerif had a bilateral meeting. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Director of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, and Chief Security and Foreign Policy Advisor to the President Akif Çağatay Kılıç were present at the meeting, which was closed to the press.

Reaction from Ali Erbaş to Deniz Göktaş: A sign of rudeness

Published

on

Erbaş included the following statements in his article: One of the biggest dilemmas of today’s popular culture and performing arts is that it presents populist discourses that lack the foundations of in-depth knowledge to the society under the name of humor. Expressions in a stand-up show that liken the chronological flow of the holy books to a “novel series” and the revelation of the Holy Quran and its being the “last book” to a “hastily made literary decision” of a human writer not only hurt the world of faith; It also reveals serious logical, literary and scientific ignorance.

“NO SIMILAR CAN BE BROUGHT”

This shallow and rude approach clearly shows how far away we are from the miraculous features of the Holy Quran, such as its revelatory nature, textual preservation, and the fact that nothing similar can be reproduced.

“IT IS FREE FROM TIME AND SPACE”

The sentence uttered in the scene, “If you come up with a new idea, we said ‘the last book'” is a primitive anthropomorphism error that imagines God as a human figure bound by time, open to forgetting or changing his mind, unaware that He is free from time and space.

“NOT THE WORDS OF OUR PROPHET”

However, the Quran, Hz. It is not a product of Muhammad’s (PBUH) personal thoughts or historical accumulation; It is the revelation of Allah, the possessor of absolute knowledge, who is free from time and space, to our Prophet. The Quran clearly reveals this fact: “If he (the Prophet) had invented some words against us, we would surely have seized him. Then we would have severed his jugular vein” (Surat al-Haqqa, 44-46).

“QURAN DOES NOT NEED NEW IDEAS”

The fact that the text of the Quran does not need new ideas in its temporal flow is an indication that the religion has reached perfection and universal principles have been completed completely:
“…Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and chosen Islam as your religion…” (Surat al-Ma’idah, 3).

“THE SIMILAR CAN NEVER BE WRITTEN”

The quality of a literary work can be measured by whether it can be imitated or surpassed by other writers. However, when the Quran came across Arab rhetoric and literature, which was the peak of the 7th century when it was revealed, it challenged all humanity that nothing similar could be produced. This process, known as “tahaddi” in the literature, declares that the like of the Quran can never be written by a human being: “Say: Even if humans and jinn come together and support each other to bring a like of the Quran, they will still not be able to produce a like of it” (Surat al-Isra, 88).

The Quran first reduces this challenge to the level of the entire text, then to ten surahs, and finally to a single sura: “If you are in doubt about the book We have revealed to our servant, bring a surah like it and call on those you worship besides Allah for help, if you are sincere in your claim! If you cannot do this – which you will never be able to do – beware of the fire whose fuel is people and stones; it has been prepared for the disbelievers” (Surat al-Baqara, 23-24).

“Even the Meccan polytheists did not do this”

Trying to trivialize an unprecedented miracle as “the last book of the series” is a great ignorance and immorality. Even the polytheists of Mecca did not do this. Even if they didn’t believe it, they at least said “this cannot be a human word”.

“AN INDICATOR OF ARTISTIC EXHAUST”

Caricaturing the Holy Quran, which shapes the way billions of people understand and give meaning to life, with the consumption language of popular culture cannot go beyond intellectual shallowness and logical error. True humor must infuse social disruption with intelligence; Trying to hide ignorance by attacking sacred things is only a sign of artistic exhaustion and rudeness.

In the article, it was especially emphasized that there was no kinship bond between Turgut Koç and Ahmet Can Ağbaba. The prosecutor’s office evaluated that Ahmet Can Ağbaba provided himself with a financial benefit of 150 thousand TL by mediating influence peddling.

My two grandchildren were orphaned, but a nation woke up

Published

Murat Kocatürk was 35 years old on July 15, 2016. He was the father of two boys, one 8 years old and the other 12 years old. He lived with his father Bayram Kocatürk in Fatih Kocamustafapaşa.

He learned about the treacherous coup attempt from television. Upon President Erdoğan’s call, “I invite our nation to the squares,” he performed ablution and went to Saraçhane. While resisting in front of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), which was occupied by the coup plotters, he drank the sherbet of martyrdom as the target of treacherous bullets.

Baba Bayram Kocatürk (76), who spent 10 years after his son, explained his feelings as follows: My son used to say ‘I will be a martyr’ since he was little. When he heard our President’s call on the air, he got up without hesitation, performed his ablution and went to Saraçhane. I was also watching the images of the occupation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the resistance of the nation on television. People were carrying a man in a checkered shirt who was shot on air. My son was also wearing a checkered shirt. For a moment, I thought to myself: This is definitely my son. I went out to the terrace and prayed for the morning by reading the Quran. Around noon, they called me from Gaziosmanpaşa Police Station and informed me of my son’s martyrdom. I was so sad, I cried. But my son had reached his dream of martyrdom. I was proud of him at that moment. God granted him this martyrdom because he was sincere in his desire to defend his homeland.

THAT NIGHT THE FEAR WAS AWAY

He explained what happened in the last 10 years with the following feelings: “The July 15 coup attempt was won with the unwavering wisdom of our President, the prayers of the friends of God, and the struggle of the people of war. The spirit that rose in Bedir, Manzikert and most recently in Çanakkale was resurrected on July 15, 100 years later. That night, fear was lifted, the brave men rushed to martyrdom. God put fear into the hearts of the oppressors. He sent His peace.” “There were martyrs who listened and brave men who rushed to martyrdom with a salute. My two grandchildren were orphaned, but a nation woke up.”

Notable messages from the ambassadors of NATO countries before the Ankara Summit: We are grateful to Türkiye’s leadership!

Published

on

Foreign mission representatives of NATO member countries in Ankara gave a message of “unity and solidarity” regarding the “2026 NATO Ankara Summit” to be held on July 7-8.

Italian Ambassador to Ankara Giuseppe Manzo, Dutch Ambassador to Ankara Joep Wijnands, Polish Ambassador to Ankara Maciej Lang, Bulgarian Ambassador to Ankara Anguel Tcholakov and Latvian Ambassador to Ankara Bahtijors Hasans made evaluations to AA about the NATO Ankara Summit to be held on 7-8 July.

Italy’s Ambassador to Ankara, Manzo, stated that the Ankara Summit was held at a critical time for common security and said, “We are grateful for Türkiye’s leadership, we support it and we are determined to work together for a successful summit that will address all the threats we face.” he said.

Referring to the deployment of an Italian SAMP/T Air Defense System to strengthen the air defense of the Alliance, Manzo emphasized that he was proud to actively contribute to the security of friend and ally Türkiye.

“Türkiye’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE ALLIANCE IS DEFINITELY VERY IMPORTANT”

Dutch Ambassador to Ankara Wijnands reminded that the NATO Ankara Summit was held in The Hague in 2025 and said that the summit will be held in Ankara this year as well.

Emphasizing that the summit in The Hague is aimed at increasing the financial obligations of the allies and allocating more budget for joint defense, Wijnands said, “This year, it will be about how and in what area we will use this budget.” he said.

Pointing out that security is never achieved automatically, Wijnands said, “Turkey knows this very well in the volatile region it is in. Türkiye’s contribution to the Alliance, which has the 2nd largest armed forces in NATO and a large defense industry, is absolutely very important.” he said.

Wijnands pointed out that their strongest asset is unity, and therefore, at the Ankara Summit, they should demonstrate an unwavering determination towards collective defense, support for Kiev in the Russia-Ukraine War and the common fight against terrorism.

“When we remain united, we are the strongest alliance in the world,” Wijnands concluded. He concluded with the statement:

“NATO’S UNSHAKEABLE WILL”

Poland’s Ambassador to Ankara, Lang, underlined that the summit was an “exceptional” meeting that was not only important for Ankara but also of paramount importance for the Alliance as a whole.

On this occasion, Lang expressed his gratitude to the Turkish hosts for their superior efforts, hospitality, sincere cooperation and exemplary coordination and capabilities, and said, “I have full faith that the message of unity and solidarity from Ankara will once again confirm NATO’s unshakable will and determination to act jointly in the face of changing security conditions.” he said.

Lang wished that the summit would be beneficial and productive for the entire Alliance.

“TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER”

Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Ankara, Tcholakov, said:

“At a time when uncertainties, unprecedented threats and challenges to the international order are increasing, this summit offers an extremely valuable and important opportunity to clearly reaffirm our unity among allies, demonstrate our determination and solidarity, and demonstrate our unwavering commitment to our fundamental principles and values. We are stronger together.”

“THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT WE STAND TOGETHER AND NATO’S UNITY IS VITALLY IMPORTANT”

Latvia’s Ambassador to Ankara Hasans pointed out that the NATO Ankara Summit to be held on July 7-8 is an opportunity to show that the commitments made have been fulfilled concretely, and said that they have already seen some progress.

Reminding that his country is the first ally to legally commit to allocating at least 5 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) to defense starting from 2027, Hasans said:

“This demonstrates our determination. The summit should reaffirm NATO’s security, unity, collective defence, the strengthening of Article 5 and transatlantic ties. Allies are increasing defense spending as Russia, in addition to terrorism, remains the greatest threat to the transatlantic region. Europe and Canada are already doing more.”

Emphasizing the need to continue strengthening the defense industry, Hasans said, “The support given to Ukraine is of vital importance, because Ukraine’s security directly contributes to the security of the entire transatlantic area.” he said.

Pointing out that the support should be predictable and sustainable in the long term, Hasans said, “Latvia has been allocating 0.25 percent of its GDP to Ukraine for several years and we will continue this. The important thing is that we stand together and the unity of NATO is vital.” he said.

“We also encourage our investors to engage in more activities in Pakistan. Our cooperation in the field of defense industry, which is one of the most important elements of our economic relations, is developing day by day with new projects. I believe that these projects, which we are implementing step by step, will strengthen Pakistan’s power. We want to deepen our cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of energy, transportation, critical minerals and information technologies. Today, we confirmed our determination once again with the Prime Minister.”

President Erdoğan wished that today’s meetings and the decisions they made would be beneficial.

President Erdoğan's emphasis on peace: Israel should not be given an opportunity

SHERIFF: Türkiye HAS ALWAYS BEEN BY US

Sharif, who made a statement at the joint press conference, used the following statements:

I would like to thank my dear brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It is always a great pleasure to visit Istanbul. A city that brings together East and West. Young women, girls and mothers made intense efforts in the Turkish War of Independence. Our people also helped them. There has always been such solidarity between the two countries.

President Erdoğan's emphasis on peace: Israel should not be given an opportunity

Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif came to Türkiye as the guest of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. President Erdoğan and Şerif held a bilateral meeting at Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul. The meeting lasted about an hour.

Following the bilateral meeting, the leaders held a meeting between delegations.

Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran stated that they welcomed Pakistani Prime Minister Şerif in Istanbul. Duran gave information about the meeting between Şerif and President Erdoğan in his post on his social media account.

Duran said, “During the meetings, relations between Turkey and Pakistan, especially trade and investments, will be reviewed in all aspects, and views will be exchanged on regional and global developments. A Business Forum is also planned to be held within the scope of the visit.”

“Türkiye IS ONE OF PAKISTAN’S MOST LOYAL ALLIES”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended the “Türkiye-Pakistan Business Forum” held in Istanbul and made a speech. Sharif stated that it was a great pleasure to be in Istanbul and said, “Turkey is one of Pakistan’s most loyal allies around the world. This brotherly bond between the two countries dates back centuries. In fact, this bond dates back long before the establishment of Pakistan in 1947.” he said.

Sharif pointed out that the ideas discussed within the scope of the forum should be implemented for the benefit of the two countries and continued as follows:

“The time has come when Pakistan, with the great support of my dear brother President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, can mediate peace between the USA and Iran. This was not an easy task, it was quite challenging. Without the sincere support of President Erdogan and other friendly and brotherly countries, this task would have been almost impossible. But Alhamdulillah, we have reached this point today.”

Sharif stated that the ceasefire came into force under the mediation of Pakistan and said, “The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was signed by US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and me, representing Pakistan as a mediator. Now, we should take advantage of this opportunity and explore the enormous potential in this peace process. Not only for our bilateral interests, but for the entire region.” he said.

Emphasizing that they came together to evaluate opportunities within the scope of the forum, Şerif said, “Your industrial structure has been completely transformed. Today, your automobile industry is at the same level as Europe. So are your textile, livestock and agriculture sectors. This has been a kind of small miracle that has happened in the last 20 years under the leadership of President Erdoğan. We are here today so that we can learn from your experiences and benefit from your great success stories.” made his assessment.

Sharif stated that a special zone will be allocated to Turkish investors within the Karachi Industrial Park.

Pointing out the richness of his country in terms of rare mineral resources, Şerif said, “Now is the time to discover these natural resources, thanks to our joint cooperation. I think there is no limit.” he said.

“Türkiye STANDED LIKE A ROCK BY PAKISTAN”

Sharif pointed out that 60 percent of Pakistan’s population of 240 million is in the 15-30 age group, and said that the young population power is quite high.

Stating that every challenge also contains an opportunity, Sharif said that the size of Pakistan’s young population can be turned into an economic advantage with artificial intelligence-focused initiatives and technology investments.

Sharif emphasized that Pakistan is carrying out comprehensive reforms in the energy sector and Türkiye provides strong support in this process.

Stating that President Erdoğan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and the Turkish business world are willing to invest in Pakistan, Şerif noted that their priority is inter-company collaborations, and if this is not possible, inter-governmental models can also be put into effect.

Sharif pointed out that Pakistan and Türkiye have stood by each other in difficult times throughout history and said:

“Just last year, when a war was imposed on Pakistan for no fault of ours and we had to defend our land, the honor and dignity of our country, our armed forces, those brave troops under the command of (Pakistan Land Forces Commander) Marshal Asim Munir, defeated our enemy in an unprecedented way within 4 to 5 days. And at that time, among the few brother countries, who was supporting Pakistan; Turkey. Turkey stood like a rock next to Pakistan.”

Stating that Türkiye faced some commercial losses for this reason, Şerif said, “They say ‘it doesn’t matter if we are helping or supporting a brother. There are also financial losses in this process. This is not a price.’ they said. he said.

Sharif expressed his respect for President Erdoğan and underlined that he wanted to take the relations between the two countries even further under his leadership.

Şerif called for the presentations and speeches made at the conference to turn into concrete results and said:

“Let these comments, presentations, words and speeches be translated into action and implemented with lightning speed, so that we can not only achieve concrete results, but also declare to the whole world that this friendship, built on the foundations of mutual trust, respect and dignity, has turned into a kind of economic cooperation, an economic transformation that the world has never seen before. If we are ready to accept this challenge, then I can assure you that nothing can stand in our way. Neither this Bosphorus, nor the mountains, nor the largest sea in the world.”
