It is envisaged that the meeting, to be held on the margins of the NATO Ankara Summit, will provide a basis for the exchange of views in order to strengthen joint efforts to protect children more effectively from the dangers of the digital world.

The meeting aims to raise awareness about the risks that children may face in digital environments, develop cooperation among stakeholders on this issue, and share good practices in allied countries.

In addition, the meeting aims to emphasize the importance of a rights-based and value-centered approach that does not ignore the development of children in determining policies and practices in the digital field, and to contribute to the development of balanced, measured and age-appropriate protective mechanisms.
The themes of “Digital Security and New Generation Risks”, “Protective and Age Appropriate Approaches”, “Shared Responsibility and Multi-Stakeholder Cooperation”, “Awareness, Education and Digital Literacy”, “Ethics and Value-Based Approaches” and “Sharing Good Practice Examples” are planned to be discussed at the meeting, where the leaders’ spouses will speak one by one.

Leaders’ wives will eat their meals in the hall containing Iznik tiles and on tablecloths reflecting Turkish embroidery culture.

Türkiye’s role will grow – Last Minute News

Published

on

The eyes of the world are on the 36th NATO Summit. Before the summit, which will be attended by 32 heads of state, including US President Donald Trump, and foreign and defense ministers, both the leaders’ statements and the analyzes in the world press continue. Stating that the Ankara Summit will include many turning points, Dutch Chief of General Staff Onno Eichelsheim noted that Türkiye’s role in NATO will further increase as the USA withdraws some of its military capabilities. Eichelsheim said that he was impressed by the level of capability reached by the Turkish defense industry and saw a strong potential for cooperation between the two countries in this field. Based on the analysis in AFP, the UK-based Middle East Eye news site stated that Trump’s arrival in Ankara for the NATO summit could facilitate the supply of F110 engines for Türkiye’s KAAN fighter jet. In the news published in the American Wall Street Journal newspaper, it was noted that the close relationship between Trump and Erdogan strengthened Türkiye’s position within NATO.

ISRAEL IS DISTURBED
In the analysis published in the Wall Street Journal, it was noted that Türkiye’s capacity in the defense industry has gained importance for NATO members. It was also noted that Türkiye has recently strengthened its role as a mediator in diplomatic initiatives and advanced its goal of becoming a regional power. On the other hand, the Israeli press expresses its discomfort, stating that the NATO Summit will further increase Türkiye’s visibility.

Türkiye’s report card is good in the last 5 summits

Published

on

Türkiye, NATO’s respected and effective ally, has achieved concrete results in the last 5 years by bringing the challenges NATO is facing today to the alliance’s agenda. Here are the headlines from the agenda of the last 5 summits:
2021 BRUSSELS SUMMIT: Then-US President Joe Biden and President Erdoğan had their first face-to-face meeting with broad agenda items. This summit was the last NATO summit before the Ukraine War. While Ankara’s influence within NATO increased further, it gave the message to the allies that “while protecting our own borders, we also protect NATO’s borders.” At this point, NATO leaders emphasize this issue when it comes to Türkiye.
2022 MADRID SUMMIT: After the Ukrainian War started in February 2022, Sweden and Finland officially applied to join the alliance. Türkiye did not approve the membership of these countries at the first stage, saying that if Sweden and Finland want to become members of the alliance, they should take steps to combat terrorism. Meetings were held and a memorandum was signed within the scope of the summit. The inclusion of PKK/PYD/YPG and FETO terrorist organizations in NATO’s written records for the first time was a diplomatic victory for Türkiye.
2023 VILNIUS SUMMIT: It was decided here, at the request of Türkiye, to create the post of “Special Counter-Terrorism Coordinator” for the NATO Secretary General. Every message from Türkiye, which implemented the most rational policy to end the Ukrainian-Russian War and achieved concrete results such as the opening of the grain corridor and the exchange of prisoners, was carefully followed. Türkiye’s view that allies should not impose arms embargoes and sanctions on each other was confirmed.
2024 Washington SUMMIT: While Türkiye is increasing its influence in NATO day by day, President Erdoğan held bilateral meetings with many leaders at this summit and revealed the ‘Turkish vision’. It was decided here that the 2026 summit would be held in Türkiye. Erdoğan brought Israel’s violations of international law to the agenda with very clear messages, even in the USA. At the summit, the document on NATO’s contributions to the fight against terrorism and the strategy it will follow was updated.
2025 THE HAGUE SUMMIT: At this summit, many allies aligned with Türkiye in assuming more responsibility in the face of threats and challenges. Secretary General Rutte gave the message ‘Defense industry from Texas to Ankara’ and noted that the alliance thinks closely with Ankara at this point. Here, Erdoğan emphasized ‘diplomacy for peace’ and ‘justice for Gaza’ in Ukraine.
