BREAKING NEWS | President Erdoğan: Our country will become the data base of the region
Breaking news: In his speech at the “2025 TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Science Awards Ceremony” held at Beştepe Nation Congress and Culture Center, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hoped that the valuable program in which they will present their awards to scientists who have distinguished themselves with their achievements will be beneficial for the country, nation and scientific community.
President Erdoğan bid farewell to Prof., whom they bid farewell to on June 11. Dr. He fondly remembered Gazi Yaşargil and all the scientists who contributed to the Turkish Academy of Sciences but are not among them today.
Thanking the referees, committees and the academy council for their intense efforts in examining and evaluating the nominated studies and determining the award winners, Erdoğan said that this year, within the scope of the TÜBA Awards, they will present their awards and certificates to 38 valuable scientists.

“THIS TABLE IS AN INDICATION THAT UNIVERSITIES MAKE INNOVATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCIENCE POOL”
Reminding that they presented the TÜBİTAK Science and Incentive Awards to 11 professors from 8 different universities, Erdoğan continued his words as follows:
“I congratulate our professors who have produced works in a wide range of fields, from electro-chemistry to solid object mechanics, from experimental psychology to RNA biology, from dentistry to neurology, history and philosophy, for their success. We are giving our International Academy Awards to two important names in the Health and Life Sciences category. We are presenting our Outstanding Young Scientist Awards, including the Pharmacy Special Award, to our 28 young academics. 4 of them are copyright works, 3 of them are jury special awards, 1 of them is Halil Halil. Including the İnalcık Special Award, we also present 8 of our professors with the Scientific Copyrighted Work Award. Thus, the number of our scientists who have won the TÜBA-GEBİP award to date has increased to 697, and the number of works awarded within the scope of TESEP has increased to 254. I would also like to point out that when we look at the higher education institutions where our award-winning professors work, we see that almost every region is on the list, from the Black Sea to the Marmara, from the Aegean to the Eastern Anatolia and Central Anatolia. To Anatolia… This table is a clear indication that the universities in our different cities are making new and innovative contributions to the science pool.
I would especially like to express that I am very pleased with this. On behalf of myself and my nation, I wholeheartedly congratulate all of our scientists who were deemed worthy of the award, and I pray to God for success for each of our professors in their future work. “I hope that these works that they have brought to our scientific world will pave the way for much more original and qualified studies.”
“THOUSANDS OF SKILLED HANDS HAVE LAYED THE FOUNDATIONS OF TODAY’S CIVILIZATION”
Erdoğan stated that human beings are creatures of inquiring and questioning nature, and that they want to know, understand and, as the elders put it, conquer.
Emphasizing that understanding the meaning of nature, history, things, the universe, in short, what the ancients call ‘evolution’, and pursuing miraculous causes, is the distinguishing feature of being human, Erdoğan made the following evaluations:
“The most fundamental feature of science is that it is based on accumulation and universality. Scientific knowledge produced in different parts of the world is constantly developed and updated in both a comparative and interactive manner. As a continuation and member of a civilization that has brought countless values to the world, from astronomy to medicine, from mathematics to architecture, we are among the leading countries in this field. For example, studies on astronomy go back a thousand years in our country, with astrolabes, calendars, water clocks and many other instruments that have a design and function far beyond their time. “The first universities established in the West started their activities by taking our educational methods and curriculum as an example. Throughout the centuries, our scholars, culture and arts have gifted valuable works to both these lands, the West, and all humanity. Our physicians, scholars, thinkers, architects, poets, in short, hundreds and thousands of skillful hands who shaped our world of mind and heart, laid the foundations of today’s civilization.”
“WE WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD OF OUR ANCESTORS, BUT WE WILL NOT STAY STUCK IN THE PAST”
President Erdoğan stated that civilizations that left their mark in history were built on personalities that guided humanity.
Stating that the Anatolian geography is the center of growth and maturation of great personalities, Erdoğan continued his speech as follows:
“Our late Master Nurettin Topçu said, ‘There are great homelands on the great graves. Nations without great dead cannot be eternal. Those who mix the great souls with the soil of the homeland; those who lie in arms with eternity in the graves that make the nations eternal; are the prophets, saints, philosophers and artists. Under the soil of Anatolia, the great graves entrusted to us from a thousand years of past, as they mix their eternal souls with our existence, the poisonous ones of the wretches who are enemies of our souls.” “Their influence cannot destroy us,” he says.
Yes… We are a nation that lives not only with our living scholars and volunteers, but also with our intellectuals underground. We have made very important contributions to science and humanity in the past with our works, our ideas, and the scholars who grew up in these lands. Of course, when I say this, I am not saying that we should console ourselves with the bright days of the past. We will always be proud of our ancestors, but we will not dwell on the past. “We will not forget, as the famous expression goes, ‘Tradition is not about messing around with ashes, but about carrying the fire to the future.'”
Erdoğan stated that they will carry forward the knowledge they have gained from the past by filling the bag even more, enlarging it, renewing it, strengthening it and, of course, enriching it.
