DIGITAL MEDIUMS LEAD TO VIOLENCE

Necmettin Erbakan University Radio, Television and Cinema Department Head Assoc. Dr. Salih Gürbüz: The underlying thing is the language of hate and the aesthetics of violence pumped by the media. Highlighting this language in TV series and programs and offering young people a false sense of belonging on the internet and digital networks can turn them into suicide bombers. Rana BÜYÜKTAŞ / ANKARA

PLATFORMS TRIGGER CHILDREN

Kastamonu University Artificial Intelligence Studies Coordinator Prof. Dr. Tunay Kamer: Closed communities established on platforms such as Discord, Telegram and Reddit produce uncontrolled structures. Users who watch violent content on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube are constantly exposed to similar content through the algorithm. Minister Göktaş announced by saying “We are determined”: New regulation on social media use

Published

on

Minister Göktaş announced by saying

24/7 DIGITAL RADAR: 2 THOUSAND 981 INSTANT INTERVENTION TO HARMFUL CONTENT!

A shield is being created against the uncontrolled structure of social media. We have a 24/7 social media monitoring system. We scan social media and negative content, and receive applications from families through our reporting platform. We directly intervened in 2,981 contents through this reporting platform. We continue our efforts to block access to negative content, especially those containing images such as violence, abuse and suicide.

Minister Göktaş announced by saying

THE SECOND FACE OF SOCIAL MEDIA GIANTS: CENSORSHIP IN GAZA, FREEDOM IN VIOLENCE!

As you know, a huge genocide is taking place in Gaza and Palestine. We know that these large platforms are blocking access and closing the door so that the voice of this genocide cannot be heard any more. We cannot watch these contents, but they do not take the same approach when it comes to other types of violent incidents.

Minister Göktaş announced by saying

‘2 HOUR’ LIMIT AGAINST VIOLENCE AND ABUSE: HISTORICAL REGULATION IS ON THE WAY!

As the Ministry, we want to impose a heavy responsibility on social media platforms. With our new regulation, we specifically request that negative content be removed within 2 hours. Because in the current situation, we, like you, have to apply and wait for the court decision. When there is negative content, we, as the Ministry, can record all these links and have them closed only by court order. We say; Be the representative of social media platforms in Türkiye. We expect support from them within 2 hours to remove some negative content, violence and suicide images.

OUR FUTURE IS UNDER SECURITY: PROVOACTIVE APPROACH AND ALGORITHM WAR!

The Minister concluded his speech with the following words:

“Protecting children is a national duty. Our expectation is that these contents are never uploaded and that a proactive approach is taken. The events we watch affect our children and young people. Let’s not expose our children to content that we do not want our own children or ourselves to watch. Social media platforms sometimes even enable money to be made through these contents. Our future and our young people are at stake against this situation that negatively affects society. Therefore, we have to protect them from such content. With the regulation we have prepared, we have implemented this work in order to protect our families and especially our children from harmful content.” “We care about passing it.”
