Kahramankazan, where Akıncı 4th Main Jet Base Command is located, one of the centers of the FETO coup attempt on July 15, 2016, became the symbol of national resistance. The people of the district, who took to the streets upon the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, resisted the coup plotters despite tanks, warplanes and heavy weapons. Farmers tried to block the view of warplanes by setting fire to their fields in Fethiye, Bitik and Kışla neighborhoods, roads were blocked with tractors, military vehicles and construction equipment were blocked, and the electricity of the base was cut off.

That night, in the fight in front of Akıncı Base and the Presidential Complex, Ali Anar, Ömer Takdemir, Samet Cantürk, Hasan Yılmaz, Lokman Biçinci, Ali İhsan Lezgi, Ümit Güder, Emrah Sapa and Yasin Yılmaz were martyred; 92 people became veterans.

Ahi District Headman Ali Anar was shot in the forehead and became a martyr after saying “We came here to be martyred.”

Ömer Takdemir, who had 20 days to go to the military, stood up saying “The homeland will be lost” and lost his life under the fire of the coup plotters.

Samet Cantürk, who lost his parents when he was a child, was shot while going to Akıncı Base with his friends.

53-year-old Ali İhsan Lezgi, who works at SGK, and his son ran to the street with his 21-year-old son and were martyred as a result of the bombs thrown near the Presidential Complex.

While Hasan Yılmaz was protecting his daughter, Emrah Sapa and Lokman Biçinci were martyred at Akıncı Base, and Ümit Güder, along with his wife and son, were martyred 5 days after being injured.

Yasin Yılmaz also walked to martyrdom wearing his white shirt, his trousers with the tags on him, and his new shoes. While veterans Ömer Kütük and Cafer Akın emphasize that despite the passing years, they will take to the streets again if the same conditions arise, Kahramankazan maintains its place in memories as one of the most important symbols of the national will and the July 15 epic.

The project, carried out by the Kahramankazan 15 July Veterans and Martyrs’ Families Association in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations, Kahramankazan District Governorate and Kahramankazan Municipality, was successfully completed. Handmade products produced in the workshops organized within the scope of the project both provide economic contribution to families and allow sharing of pain by creating a common living space.

“OUR ASSOCIATION BECAME THEIR SECOND HOME”

Association President Cafer Akın stated that they created various training workshops for martyrs’ families, veterans’ relatives and veterans within the scope of the project, and said that they organized leather bag and wallet production, candle, soap and paper relief courses. Emphasizing that the project aims not only to provide vocational training but also to strengthen the participants socially, psychologically and economically, Akın said, “The products made here are offered for sale. In this way, families earn income and find morale by spending their free time productively. Our association has become their second home. They produce together, chat, cook, drink tea and support each other.” he said.

Among the activities carried out within the scope of the project, Türkiye’s first astronaut Alper Gezeravcı came together with the participants and shared his experiences. The handmade products prepared in the workshops were exhibited at the 15 July Democracy Museum and presented to the visitors.

“EVERYONE WHO COMES HERE COMES WITH THE PAIN THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED”

Kahramankazan Public Education Center master instructor Zeliha Çam, who took part in the project, also stated that the courses had a significant social and emotional impact on the participants. Çam stated that the bond they established with the families of martyrs and veterans turned into a family atmosphere over time and said, “We have accumulated many beautiful memories together. We opened exhibitions and produced products. I think I was able to touch their lives. Everyone who comes here comes with the pain they have experienced. For this reason, we always approach them more sensitively.” he said.

“WE DO NOT ONLY PRODUCE HERE, WE ALSO SHARE OUR PAINS”

Explaining that there are emotional moments in the workshops from time to time, Çam said, “We don’t just produce here; we also share our pain. Sometimes we laugh together, sometimes we shed tears. Thanks to Ashura events, meetings and joint work, we have become a big family. Our biggest wish is that our country will never experience such pain again.” he said.

Kılıçdaroğlu took the scalpel: 43 provincial heads were dismissed

Published

on

There is no calm in the CHP, which is experiencing a historical civil war. 74 provincial leaders, who declared their support for Manisa Deputy Özgür Özel after the absolute nullity decision, had heavily insulted the party management and engaged in various provocations since the first day. On June 17, the button was pressed for the provincial heads who ignored the headquarters’ calls for calm and continued their actions that drew reactions. CHP MYK, which dismissed the provincial heads of Ankara, Bursa, Bitlis and Erzurum on this date, completely renewed almost half of the provincial organizations across the country in the last 27 days.

THE CLAIM OF THE ‘PRIVATE’ PEOPLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED
The Kılıçdaroğlu administration, which the Özgür Özel front said, “They cannot even find a district administrator”, dismissed 43 provincial heads in the last month, and new appointments were made quickly in 36 provinces. The number of provincial chairmen who have already been dismissed and have not yet been appointed is 7. During the 27-day period, a total of 14 provincial heads who raised the flag of rebellion by severely insulting Kılıçdaroğlu were also referred to discipline with a request for definitive expulsion.

HIGH DEMAND FOR NEW STAFFING
Party sources emphasize that during this process, at least 7-8 candidates from each province knocked on the door of the headquarters to become the provincial president, and long consultations were carried out to choose the most suitable name among the intense demand. It is also stated that more than 3 thousand visitors come to the party building every week and make contacts regarding the new staffing and distribution of duties in the provinces and districts.

LATEST SITUATION IN PROVINCIAL DEPARTMENTS
As of July 13, the number of provincial leaders in the party currently siding with Kılıçdaroğlu has increased to 43. The number of provincial presidents supporting Özgür Özel decreased to 31. The CHP administration, which emphasizes at every opportunity that it will not allow a double-headed image in the party, is expected to continue its dismissal decisions against provincial chairmen next week.

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the Friends Association, a detention order was issued for the President of the Association, Haluk Levent, for the crimes of ‘Violation of the law on associations’, ‘Laundering of property values resulting from crime’ and ‘Membership of an organisation’. It was learned that Levent, who was fined 70 million lira in the bad check case in the past weeks, went to the airport to go abroad, but when he learned that he was banned from abroad, he returned home and was detained in Bursa.

After the health check in Bursa, Levent was brought to the Istanbul Police Department for questioning. According to the information obtained, it was determined that Levent bet 990 million liras from the accounts of Alper Çelik, one of the founders of the association, between 2020 and 2026 and lost 390 million liras. It was determined that he transferred 120 million lira from his friend’s account to the account of his assistant Yeliz Kaya.

REAL ESTATE GAME
The main backbone of the investigation was the allegations that large amounts of money were transferred to the accounts of some suspects on behalf of the Friends Association. It was learned that the investigation was deepened as a result of increasing allegations that earthquake donations were smuggled abroad and used for purposes other than their intended purpose.

It was among the information obtained that Levent bought real estate from the victims using the name of the association and the promise of donation, but the real estate transferred to his assistant Yeliz Kaya was later registered in the name of different suspects, resulting in a loss of approximately 60 million dollars. Following the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş 3 years ago, artist Haluk Levent started an aid campaign across Türkiye with the promise of building houses for earthquake victims through the Ahbap Association, of which he is the chairman of the board. Within the scope of the campaign that made a big impact, approximately 7 billion dollars of aid was poured into the association from domestic and international sources for the construction of a total of 460 houses in Gaziantep Nurdağı, Malatya’s Battalgazi and Arapgir districts. The fact that the promises made after 3 years were not kept caused the earthquake victims to react.
