Minister Tunç: “Whatever mothers say is right…”
Tunç stated that the brutal murder of children Ahmet Minguzzi and Atlas shook Türkiye deeply and said, “It is a great pain for a mother to lose her child. May God not show it to anyone. Whatever those mothers say is right.” Reminding that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had both face-to-face and telephone conversations with both families, Tunç said that the necessary instructions were given regarding the elimination of legal deficiencies, if any, and what needs to be done in practice. Tunç, to prevent such suffering from happening again, not only in the field of justice and law; He emphasized that an all-out struggle is needed, especially in education, family, youth and social policies. Reacting harshly to the criticism of the Republican People’s Party, Tunç said, “We have transformed the judiciary from being someone’s backyard. We have made it the judiciary of the nation.” Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç Bartın answered journalists’ questions after the TOKİ draw ceremony and made statements about the agenda.
“WE SUGGESTED DISCRETION POWER TO JUDGES”
Stating that, as the Ministry of Justice, they are working on a draft to prevent children from being dragged into crime, Tunç reminded the regulations regarding the criminal responsibility of children in Article 31 of the Turkish Penal Code. Tunç stated that children under the age of 12 do not have criminal liability, and penalties are reduced for the 12-15 and 15-18 age groups. Tunç said that the news “Criminal liability is being reduced to 13 in Sweden” published in some media outlets was misunderstood and said, “In our country, criminal liability is already above the age of 12. Sweden is just discussing this.” Tunç said, “In the draft we prepared, we suggested that judges be given discretionary authority to make reductions on a case-by-case basis, taking into account each incident, the way the crime was committed, the child’s tendency and past situation, regarding children who committed crimes under the age of 18. We shared this suggestion with our Parliamentary group.”
“WE MUST ELIMINATE THE REASONS THAT DRIVE CHILDREN TO CRIME”
Drawing attention to the work of the research commission established in the Parliament, Tunç said, “First of all, it is necessary to identify and eliminate the reasons that push children to crime. The commission listens to academics and evaluates different opinions. After the commission report, the need for legal regulation may come to the agenda of the Parliament again.” Tunç also reminded that important regulations that increased the effectiveness of criminal justice were implemented with the 10th and 11th Judicial Packages.
ROJİN KABAİŞ INVESTIGATION: THERE WILL BE NO DARK SPOT LEFT
Stating that the investigation into the death of Rojin Kabaiş is continuing, Tunç emphasized that the process is being carried out meticulously: “The investigation continues. The cause of death was determined as drowning, but it is being investigated whether she was exposed to any violence before drowning. Digital materials were examined, DNA tests were performed. I personally met with the Spanish Minister of Justice to examine the mobile phone. Efforts are continuing to unlock the phone.” Stating that it is out of the question for the state to hide anything, Tunç said, “If there are those responsible, whoever they are, they will be held accountable. The state protects the rights of our daughter, a university student, to the end.” Reacting to the disinformation on social media, Tunç emphasized that the family’s pain will not be allowed to be exploited.
SİVAS VISIT AND THE DEBATE ON JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE
Minister Tunç also touched upon the criticisms made over his visit to Sivas and said that provincial visits were made within the framework of state tradition and that the entire protocol was included in these visits. Stating that it was very natural for the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors to visit since he is from Sivas, Tunç described it as “futile” to associate this with judicial independence.
“WE MADE THE JUDICIARY THE JUDICIARY OF THE NATION”
Reacting harshly to the criticism of the Republican People’s Party, Tunç said, “We have transformed the judiciary from being someone’s backyard. We have made it the judiciary of the nation.” Emphasizing that the judiciary is no longer on the side of the coup plotters and tutelage, but on the side of the national will, Tunç reminded the attitude of the members of the judiciary against the coup plotters on July 15. “The judiciary of this country also holds accountable for corruption, bribery and theft,” said Tunç, adding that an independent and impartial judicial system has become permanent in Türkiye. Tunç concluded his statements by saying, “We will mind our business and continue on our way.”

‘February 28’ post from AK Party Deputy Chairman Yayman! “There is no power greater than the power of our nation”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, in his post on his NSosyal account, stated that February 28 was a black mark on democracy. “The February 28 process, which is a dark page in our history of democracy, has gone down in history as a symbol of the pressure on the nation’s faith, identity and choice.” Making his evaluation, Yayman noted that the mentality that tried to overshadow the will of the nation at that time tried to stop Türkiye’s democratic march by ignoring the values of the society.
Emphasizing that the essence of these lands is not surrender, but wisdom, Yayman stated that the nation has defended democracy with patience, determination and faith, and has clearly shown that the order that the tutelage centers want to establish cannot be permanent.
“THERE WAS NO POWER THAN THE POWER OF OUR NATION”
AK Party Deputy Chairman Yayman said in his post: “While erasing the traces of this understanding over the years, Turkey has stepped into a new era with a strong leadership and a determined political will. The strong will demonstrated by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been an important turning point in the construction of a Türkiye that is at peace with the values of the nation. As a matter of fact, on the night of the July 15 coup attempt, it was seen once again that this nation has the courage and determination to stand tall against every hand that reaches out to its will. Today “Our duty is to defend our democracy, freedoms and the will of the nation more strongly, without forgetting what happened in the past, and to institutionalize democratic reforms. Because the real owner of this country and the one who will determine its future is no power greater than the power of our nation.” He included his statements.
