Clear message from Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek: We will eradicate illegal betting and drugs
“COURT ROOMS ARE NOT POLITICAL ARENA”
Minister Akın Gürlek was reminded of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli’s call regarding the live broadcast of hearings within the scope of investigations against some municipalities.
Gürlek, who was asked about his evaluation of the broadcast of these cases on television, said, “This must be allowed by the legislation. Currently, there is no regulation in our law regarding the live broadcast of these cases, but if the Supreme Parliament shows a will on this issue, it can of course be broadcast. I want to say this, courtrooms are definitely not political arenas, political shows or propaganda cannot be made. Judges decide on behalf of the nation, based on the evidence in the file. We need to especially underline this. Political propaganda should not be made in courtrooms. Judges are not affected by this propaganda. Because judges are supreme. “He decides on behalf of the Turkish nation.” he said.
“Can a person in prison be visited at any time? Can his messages be easily carried outside?” Asked the question, Gürlek said the following:
“We have a legislative gap here. I have instructed my friends on this issue during my Ministry of Justice process. We will make a legal regulation. There is a distinction between detainees and convicts. Lawyers can meet with detainees in prison whenever they want. Even if their lawyer goes there at 3 a.m., they can meet with the detainee, but there is no such thing for convicts. There is such a gap, especially for detainees. Lawyers can meet easily and give them their personal notes and letters. The law needs to be amended. In particular, lawyers can meet with detainees and give notes to each other, and they can do so easily. “Normally, all letters and notes are stamped as ‘seen’ by the prison administration. If they are not appropriate, they are not sent, but since there is a gap in the legal regulations for detainees, the notes can be easily given to lawyers and given to other persons through lawyers. We hope to carry out a study on this and present it to the Parliament.”
“WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE DISEASE OF ILLEGAL BETTING”
Pointing out that the issue of illegal betting is a bleeding wound of the nation, Gürlek said that he fought against this issue when he was the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor.
Stating that he will address this issue as the Minister of Justice, Gürlek said, “We need to get rid of the illegal betting problem. We have solved the illegal betting system. If there is a lack of legal regulation, we will make legal regulation. Illegal betting companies are constantly following the technology. We close a site, two minutes later a dot is placed at the end of the site and it reopens. The important thing is to dry the entire source. We may have deficiencies in terms of legal regulation. We will do about them.” he said.
Pointing out that they carried out important operations within the scope of “fixing match-fixing in football” investigations, Gürlek said, “We did not look at the names, titles and identities of the individuals here either. Football must be clean. Match-fixing should not be done here. We have carried out very sensitive studies on this issue. There is a special office in the Istanbul Courthouse. It works very well in this regard. We will spread it in Türkiye as well. As the Minister of Justice, I promise the society about illegal betting, we will go to the end of this matter, we will root it out.” “We will scrape it. If there is a deficiency, we will correct it.” he said.
Emphasizing that drugs are Türkiye’s biggest problem, Gürlek said, “We have taken the necessary steps regarding drugs. We have carried out good operations in Istanbul. Hopefully, we will do whatever is necessary to get rid of the drug epidemic during the Ministry of Justice period. Families are very upset about their children using drugs. Mothers and fathers come to me and say ‘save our sons from this disease’. We will go to the end of this process.” he said.
Stating that they reached the “barons” from drug users, Gürlek said, “I would like to thank our members of the Istanbul Police Department, our gendarmerie personnel and our prosecutor friends. We worked very well on these issues. Hopefully, we will work well as the Minister of Justice. The system is a system that goes from bottom to top. You catch the bag dealer, you catch the distributor, you catch the main distributor. You said barons, look, we carried out the Çetin Gören operation, 12 people were arrested. Then the name Siirtli Naci came out. “There is also a fight against the barons.” he said.
“FIGHT AGAINST FETO WILL CONTINUE UNINTERRUPTED”
Regarding the fight against FETO, Minister Gürlek said, “The fight against FETO will of course continue. All our chief prosecutors are already on the alert on this issue. Because FETO is a threat to the state and the country. The new structuring is also being tackled. The fight against FETO is definitely not over, it still continues, and will continue until the end. FETO is definitely our red line, our main agenda. Our fight on this issue will continue uninterruptedly.” he emphasized.
“HELLO JUSTICE” LINE WILL BE ESTABLISHED
Pointing out that citizens mostly complain about the length of litigation processes, Gürlek continued as follows:
“A divorce case, a rental case, a cadastral case takes a very long time. The grandfather files the cadastral case, but it is not completed on time by his grandson. I am thinking of establishing a system like this in my new term as the Ministry of Justice. We will establish a line called ‘Hello Justice’. What is this line? For example, a citizen has a divorce case. The citizen’s divorce case has not been completed for 17 sessions, so the citizen is the victim here and wants it to end. Or there is a rental case. Since 8 sessions. “The rent case is ongoing. Here, the citizen will reach the Alo Justice line. This may be by phone or e-mail.”
Minister Gürlek stated that they cannot give instructions to judges and prosecutors on this issue, but they will convey the grievances of the citizens.
COMMERCIAL COURTS WILL BE GATHERED UNDER ONE ROOF
Stating that Istanbul is a trade city, Gürlek said:
“The world’s trade revolves here. Commercial courts are very important courts. We have very big cases here. We are planning to establish a pilot in Istanbul, I am thinking of gathering all the commercial courts in one place, in a single building. Now, what will be the benefit of this for us? There are commercial courts in Anadolu Courthouse, Çağlayan Courthouse, Bakırköy Courthouse, Küçükçekmece Courthouse. It is very messy. Now the citizens go to Küçükçekmece, cannot make a decision, they leave.” He is applying from the Anatolian Courthouse. All commercial courts will be in a complex, the location is unknown, and our commercial judges will work in these buildings separately from outside the courthouse. This will prevent the process from being prolonged, especially in commercial cases, and will ensure uniformity. We are planning to launch this process as a pilot in Istanbul soon.”
“WE WILL NOT ALLOW STREET GANGS”
Minister Gürlek, on the question about the “new generation criminal gangs”, said, “While working as the Chief Public Prosecutor in Istanbul, we carried out operations against street gangs, but we need to stop the participation. Young people are somehow emulated, or rather encouraged and involved. We need to fight against them. Of course, we may have shortcomings as a law. Some regulations have been made in the 11th Judicial Package. Work on the 12th Judicial Package continues. We will make regulations regarding this. Unfortunately, criminal organizations use these children due to the gap in the law. This is “Legal regulations need to be made on this issue. We need to address the concept of children.” He made a statement.
Emphasizing that they will fight against street gangs until the end, Gürlek said, “We will definitely not let street gangs tolerate it. I hope I will do this as the ‘Executive Minister’. We will destroy street gangs until the end. Operations are already being carried out constantly.” he said.
“GAZA IS OUR RED LINE”
Responding to the question about Israel’s attacks on Gaza, Gürlek said, “As you know, we had the Sumud Flotilla that brought aid to Gaza. Unfortunately, it was attacking brutally and barbarically. During my term as the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, we arrested 37 people. Gaza is our red line. We will take all necessary steps in this regard. Israel’s barbarity and lawlessness are obvious, but we, as the Ministry of Justice, will follow this process.” he replied.
Minister Gürlek said, “The Presidential Strategy Directorate determines a staff. Then, we make recruitments on a provincial basis. In this regard, hopefully, we will bring 15 thousand personnel to our justice community according to a periodic calendar. Likewise, interviews for assistant judge and prosecutor positions will also begin.” gave the information.

Entertech Maslak Go and Startgate TEKMER were opened with a ceremony
Entertech Maslak Go and Startgate TEKMER were opened in Maslak. Speaking after the promotional film, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that national technology workshops will be established in 100 universities of Türkiye as of this year and said, “Turkey has come a long way in its technology development journey in the last 23 years. When we look back 23 years ago, we know that there was a period when concepts such as research, development and innovation were not on the agenda in our private sector. But now the Turkish private sector has become the pioneer of research and development in Türkiye. Türkiye’s total R&D expenditures are over 1.2 billion dollars.” “While it increased to 20 billion dollars, the R&D expenditures of the Turkish private sector also reached 14 billion dollars from 350 million dollars. Today, the Turkish private sector is in a position to achieve pioneering success stories in different sectors that are renowned in the world with the success stories it has revealed.”

“95 PERCENT OF THE PRODUCTS EXPORTED BY Türkiye CONSIST OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS”
Minister Kacır said that 95 percent of the products exported by Türkiye consist of industrial products and said, “If we can talk about export success today, there is a higher value-added production success of the industry behind it. 95 percent of the products exported by Türkiye consist of industrial products. The success achieved in all sectors of our industry, from automotive to machinery, from chemistry to food industry, has an enormous share in our ability to increase exports from 36 billion dollars to 274 billion dollars. Therefore, in fact, this is an ecosystem issue, a network.” “Of course, one of the most important elements of this is human resources. In order to make progress in the field of research and development, you must first invest in your human capital. Increasing Türkiye’s R&D human resources from 29 thousand to 311 thousand in 23 years is actually the most fundamental element that motivates and makes this whole success story possible,” he said.

“OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE OUR ENTERPRISE OFFICES INSTALLED IN ALL 81 CITIES THIS YEAR”
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said, “We increased the number of technoparks from 2 to 114. While only 56 companies were operating in our technoparks 23 years ago, today nearly 8,700 companies are doing research, development and innovation in Türkiye’s technoparks. Today, especially in the gaming industry, which is the main focus of this center, which has brought us together today, a few young people came together and founded it, and 20-30 young people are currently working in it. Technology startups that are still in the early stages of their business life can reach a billion dollar valuation. The more Turcorns we have, the stronger our entire ecosystem will become, with dozens and hundreds of startups to be born from each of them. With this understanding, we have implemented the Turcorn 100 program and are currently trying to grow our 39 technology startups with tailor-made supports to reach a billion dollar valuation. We have also taken steps to ensure that the private sector leads especially TEKMERs in this journey. “TEKMERs have become a complementary element of technoparks and R&D design centers in our enterprise ecosystem. We created the Go Enterprise Office model to standardize the supports and infrastructures we offer to the field of entrepreneurship in Türkiye, and our goal is to have our enterprise offices in all 81 cities this year.”

“WE MADE IT MUCH EASIER FOR CREATIVE IDEAS TO RESIDE AND WORK IN Türkiye AND WE ACHIEVED THE BRAIN DRAIN”
Minister Kacır stated that with the Turkey Tech Visa program, the residence and working processes of technology startups and individuals working in these companies have become much easier in Türkiye, and said, “The venture capital volume, which was 50 million dollars annually between 2011-2015 and 100 million dollars annually between 2016-2020, reached an average of 1.1 billion dollars in the last 5 years between 2021-2025. The annual venture capital investment volume in Türkiye is higher than the previous 5 years.” It has reached 11 times the size of the previous 5 years. We will expand this even further. With this program, we have made the residence and working processes in Türkiye for technology startups and individuals working in these companies much easier, which previously took more than 6 months. With this program, we can offer work and residence permits to the human resources who will work in startups in this ecosystem, including the startups here. “Nearly 5 thousand technology developers have moved to Turkey and they are now continuing their work in Turkey. We believe that attracting qualified human resources will provide significant advantages for Türkiye in this race,” he said.

“WE ARE ESTABLISHING THE WORLD’S LARGEST ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER IN ISTANBUL”
Stating that they established the world’s largest entrepreneurship center in Istanbul, Minister Kacır said, “We are establishing the world’s largest entrepreneurship center in Istanbul. We transformed the terminal buildings of Atatürk Airport into a technopark with the Terminal Istanbul brand. Now the world’s largest startup center, technology entrepreneurship center, is being established in the terminal buildings of Atatürk Airport. Hopefully, we will open the first phase of this in June and bring it to Istanbul. Then, at the end of the first year, we will open another large phase and within 2 years Atatürk Airport will open the largest entrepreneurship center in the world. Hopefully, we will have provided the entire airport terminal buildings to you, the technology entrepreneurs. I believe that this will again be an important step that will strengthen the interest in Turkish technology initiatives at the global level. In order to attract our young people to this journey from an early age, we will organize the world’s largest technology festivals, TEKNOFEST, and on the other hand, we will organize infrastructures such as Deneyap Technology Workshops all over Türkiye, attracting young people from the age of 11, who are interested in this field and have competence in this field, from city to city. “We will try to identify them town by town, village by village, include them in technology education programs and walk with them on this journey,” he said.

“WE ARE SECOND IN EUROPE IN TERMS OF THE NUMBER OF GAMING INITIATIVES”
Stating that they are in the second place in Europe in terms of the number of game enterprises, Minister Kacır said, “We strongly support the game sectors along with our other sectors. Our duty is to ensure that cluster infrastructures such as the StartGate single center here can provide services to game entrepreneurs in Türkiye and to allow the increase of financial resources in this field. As the Ministry, we will continue to take these steps. By supporting the cluster project and making this address the center of the cluster, the game cluster, we have actually demonstrated this approach. Hopefully, game initiatives will continue to increase in the coming period.” “We will achieve further growth in Türkiye, we are currently in the second place in Europe in terms of the number of game initiatives. Hopefully, together we will succeed in reaching the first place in Europe and increasing the number of Turkish games, which we are proud of with their success stories all over the world,” he said. After the speech, the enterprise center was opened with a gift presentation and a photo shoot. Then, Minister Kacır visited the center and received information from the authorities.

Stating that steps are continuing to increase the quality of entry into the legal profession, Gürlek said that the quality of the profession has been strengthened by making the exams more difficult and increasing the success ranking. We have 209 thousand lawyers, 212 thousand judges, prosecutors and courthouse personnel in this family of justice. We all need to work together here. We know very well the problems that our lawyers have been experiencing lately. With the packages we will organize, we want to both speed up the civil trial and, in a sense, benefit our lawyers financially.” Minister Gürlek stated that the legal profession is a high-quality, qualified and elite profession all over the world.

BREAKING NEWS | Message from MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli to Özgür Özel: There is no by-election, during election time
Breaking news: MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made a statement at his party’s group meeting. Devlet Bahçeli, reacting to the US/Israeli attacks on Iran and Lebanon, noted that the World Peace Council should be established. Noting that Türkiye is ready to undertake responsibility for peace, Bahçeli also gave important messages regarding the goal of a Terror-Free Türkiye.
Breaking news… MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli spoke at his party’s group meeting. MHP leader Bahçeli said, “The losses of life in the air attack carried out by the Israeli army on Lebanon show that the zionist plans do not intend to leave Lebanese territory.” he said. Bahçeli also responded to Özgür Özel’s midterm election remarks. Bahçeli noted that there will be no by-elections and that the elections will be held on time.
Highlights from Bahçeli’s statements:
Trump’s statement that they accepted a 2-week ceasefire on the condition of opening Hormuz, but his declaration that the war objectives were achieved showed that the crisis was brought to the table. The silence of the guns is an intermediate phase. The guns fell silent temporarily, but the scores were not settled.
LEBANON REACTION TO ISRAEL
Israel violates Lebanon’s territorial integrity. While there is a temporary pause on the Iranian front, the Lebanese front is kept open. The losses of life in the air attack carried out by the Israeli army on Lebanon show that the Zionist groups do not intend to leave Lebanese territory.
“WORLD PEACE COUNCIL SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED”
The inconclusive talks in Islamabad have further strengthened the possibility that the conflicts in the region will evolve into global destruction. Just as uncontrolled and unstoppable power competition and ambition for armament cause bombs to explode in the Middle East today, it will also pave the way for greater destruction in the heart of Europe, the nodal points of Asia and the fragile basins of Africa tomorrow. Shaken by the global epidemic in 2020, humanity has been constantly thrown by the Ukraine-Russia war, the deterioration of trade security in the Red Sea and the Black Sea, the human tragedy in Gaza, the destruction in Lebanon, and the crises that broke out in Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia. In a world where India and Pakistan are facing each other on the Kashmir line, and where the Pakistan-Afghanistan tension has turned the lives of tens of thousands of people upside down in Pakistan today, it is a dangerous mistake to think that the fire will be limited to a single region. In such a period when the possibility of World War II is more pronounced, the immediate implementation of a World Peace Council mechanism, under the leadership of the United Nations Secretary-General Guterres, with the participation of the USA, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, Turkey and the European Union, is a historical obligation on behalf of humanity.
“Türkiye IS READY TO PUT IT UNDER THE STONE”
It is now inevitable for the manifestation of a new global will based on justice, balance and equity, not the ambivalent understandings that carry the word peace but actually expand the war. Türkiye is ready to take responsibility with the responsibility imposed by its history and the mission determined by its geography. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s maxim “Peace at home, peace in the world” will determine the route of every step we will take today, as it did yesterday, and the direction of all the roads we will walk.
