BREAKING NEWS | 10 suspects, including Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, were arrested in the irregularity investigation against Silivri Municipality.

Published

on

Breaking news: The procedures of 18 suspects, including Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, who were detained in the operation carried out by the Istanbul Police Department’s Financial Crimes Fighting Branch Directorate under the coordination of the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, were completed at the Silivri Courthouse, where they were referred.

The Criminal Court of Peace decided to arrest Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, Aşkın Kaynar, Serdar Tuna, Gökhan Tuna, Adem Tuna, İbrahim Kömür, Aykut Batur, Fatih Yavuz, Yavuz Dirik and Nihat Nahit Sarayönü.

The judge ruled that 8 suspects be released with judicial control measures. While the suspects’ proceedings were continuing at the courthouse, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Chairman Nuri Aslan and some party members waited in front of the municipality building.

On the other hand, Naci Aydın, one of the released suspects, was applauded by his relatives as he left the courthouse. When some CHP members reacted to this situation, a short-term discussion took place in front of the courthouse.

OPERATION

It was determined by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office that some works and transactions within the municipality were used for the purpose of obtaining benefits, and that there were irregularities in the processes of recruiting personnel to the municipality, transferring and renting businesses, zoning, licensing, sealing, illegal construction, asset acquisition and municipal real estate sales.

An expert determination was made that a public loss of 21 million 522 thousand 717 liras was incurred by selling a municipality’s non-registered/parking area property at a low price.

In line with the findings, an investigation was launched by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of “establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime”, “being a member of an organization”, “receiving and giving bribes”, “extortion”, “influence trading”, “abuse of office”, “tender rigging”, “rigging the performance of an act”, “causing zoning pollution” and “laundering property values resulting from crime”.

The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued a detention order for the suspects on the grounds that there was a strong suspicion that the alleged actions were committed within an organized structure and that the other suspects acting together with Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, who is considered to be the founder and manager of the organization, were gaining unfair advantage by using influence over the municipal affairs and transactions.

In the simultaneous operation carried out by the Istanbul Police Department’s Financial Crimes Fighting Branch Directorate teams, Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, Deputy Mayor Fatih Yavuz, CHP Silivri Municipal Council Member Aykut Batur, Private Secretary Aşkın Kaynar, former CHP Silivri District Mayor İbrahim Kömür, Silivri Municipality Police Officer Mustafa Demirayak, Private Secretary Aşkın Kaynar’s driver Serdar Tuna, Özbingöl Plastik and Aluminum. Bilal Erdoğan: Türkiye should walk the path with African countries

Published

on

On the last day of the 4-day think tank project organized by Rize Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of İlim Yayma Foundation, attended the summit speeches program at Üsküdar Rideva Cultural Center. Apart from Erdoğan, the Rector of Rize Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yılmaz, international students studying in Türkiye and guests attended. Speaking at the program, Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ilim Yayma Foundation, drew attention to the importance of international students studying in Türkiye.

“INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS A LEG OF TURKEY’S CENTURY”

Stating that the students who returned to their countries after studying at university in Türkiye established Turkish alumni associations in their countries and maintained their connections with Turkey through these associations, Erdoğan said, “Turkish alumni associations are being established in the countries. The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (TYB) organizes, monitors, coordinates and supports them. A very good solidarity is formed among themselves. Some of them work in Turkish companies in their countries. Some of them still go to Turkey, come to Turkey, and their cooperation continues.” Turkey graduates become volunteer ambassadors of Türkiye in the countries they visit. They contribute to the accurate recognition of Türkiye in the countries they visit. Because there is a certain framework about Turkey that is pumped up by the western media all over the world. It is not true, it is not true. Those who live in Türkiye and know Türkiye are aware that this is not the case. Therefore, Turkish graduates in those countries neutralize such propaganda. “We have a reality abroad. They are working and producing discourse against Türkiye everywhere. There is a PKK and they are producing a certain discourse against Türkiye abroad. That is why Turkey’s graduates in the world are an important pillar of the Türkiye of the 21st century. That is why we need to increase their numbers. We need to ensure that they return to their countries as happily as they do today.”

“Türkiye NEEDS TO BECOME A STRONG COUNTRY THAT WALKS WITH AFRICA”

Drawing attention to the importance of international students and the relationships to be established through them in increasing Türkiye’s export figures, Bilal Erdoğan said, “For example, we are now talking about 275 billion dollars of exports. Being a country that exports 500 billion dollars is not even an action for us. But we need to work for this. For this, we need to increase our markets. For example, in 2050, one in four people in the world will live in Africa. Now Africa loves us. We love Africa. We are the country with the most extensive diplomatic space in Africa. Turkish Airlines is the airline that flies to the most destinations in Africa. America has its own plans there. We do not have such a plan. So far, we have only sought to be good neighbors and good friends to Africa. Therefore, with such a good infrastructure, all that needs to be done is more investment, more partnership, more trade, for the benefit of Africa. “For the benefit of Türkiye and for mutual strength, we need to create a humanitarian paradigm in the post-Western world. The paradigm that the world needs is one that puts humanity and people at the center. There is accumulation, there is inequality, there is injustice. Unfortunately, we live in a world where the law of the strong prevails. Therefore, when Africa will have an important influence in the future of the world, I think Türkiye needs to be a strong country that walks the path with Africa.”

“WHAT IS GROWING AFRICA OR EUROPE THAT HAS STOPPED TO GROW?”

Underlining the potential of the African continent, Erdoğan said, “Do we have a future with a growing continent and a continent whose population is rising? Do we have a future with a Europe whose population has aged and started to decline, and whose economy has stopped growing? I mean, I want Europe to be good, I am my neighbor, everything should be fine. But now it is a Europe that has become the sick man of the world. Now Europe is the disease of the world. What has America done to Europe? You look, you see. That is why, on the one hand, we continue our relations with Europe at a positive level.” “Türkiye has a lot to contribute to Europe. If Europe understands this, it will benefit from it. But on the other hand, I need to look at the matches ahead of me. I need to return to Asia, to Central Asia, to the Turkish world,” he said.
