Turkey responded to the scandalous decisions of the European Parliament and then the European Union regarding Cyprus by making determination flights in the south of the island before the 52nd anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation. Following the European Parliament, which signed a resolution targeting the Cyprus Peace Operation and denigrating the Turkish Armed Forces with the initiative of the Greek-Greek MPs in the first week of July, the European Union also targeted Türkiye with a prejudiced and distorted understanding regarding the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus in the “Common Understanding” document it published. While Turkey expressed its reaction in the harshest way through the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it gave its clearest answer on the field. Combat and support aircraft taking off from various bases affiliated with the Turkish Air Force carried out training flights in the international airspace of the Mediterranean, in the south of the Cyprus Island. With this flight, a meaningful message was given to both the Greek Cypriot-Greek duo, the EP and the EU.

Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler and the Turkish Armed Forces command level visited the Barbarism Museum in Nicosia, which exhibits the brutal massacres committed by the Greek Cypriot terrorist organization EOKA.

‘ALWAYS, EVERYWHERE’
In the post of the Ministry of National Defense regarding the training flights carried out in the south of Cyprus, it was stated: “A training flight was carried out in the international airspace of the Mediterranean, in the south of the Island of Cyprus, with the participation of our combat and support aircraft taking off from various bases affiliated with our Air Force Command. We are the indomitable guardians of our skies, always, everywhere.”

52 years have passed since the Cyprus Peace Operation carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) to save the Turkish Cypriots from the danger of total annihilation. Mehmetçik, who stopped the inhumane attacks ranging from Bloody Christmas to the Beach Massacre, changed the course of history by using his right of guarantor on July 20, 1974. The operation, which started on the morning of July 20, was not only a military success; It was a declaration to the world of the will of the nation, the law of guarantor and the Turkish state’s determination to stand by the oppressed. The basis of the peace prevailing in Cyprus today is the epic that Mehmetçik wrote at the expense of his life.

SYSTEMATIC MASSACRE BY EOKA
* The EOKA terrorist organization, founded on April 1, 1955, systematically targeted Turks. Villages were evacuated, innocent civilians were massacred, hundreds of people lost their lives. In the face of attacks, Turkish Cypriots united under the umbrella of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT) and organized resistance in 1958. The Republic of Cyprus, which was established with the Zurich and London Treaties in 1959, became de facto inoperable when the Greek administration usurped the constitutional rights of the Turks in 1963.

* In the attacks that started on December 20, 1963 and went down in history as “Bloody Christmas”, hundreds of Turkish Cypriots were martyred, 103 Turkish villages were evacuated, and approximately 25 thousand people were forced to migrate. In the subsequent Kumsal Massacre, the murder of Major Nihat İlhan’s wife Mürüvvet İlhan and their three little children Murat, Kutsi and Hakan in the bathtub became one of the most painful symbols of Greek brutality in memory. ❱ Attacks by Greek Cypriots and Greek troops continued in 1964. Following the attacks targeting the Turkish people in Erenköy, Türkiye prevented a major massacre by organizing a limited air operation. Air Pilot Captain Cengiz Topel, whose plane was shot down in this process, was martyred under torture after being captured and took his place among the heroes of the Turkish nation.

TURKISH MILITARY LANDED IN CYPRUS
* After the Greek-backed coup in 1974, the existence of Turkish Cypriots came under great threat again. Thereupon, Türkiye, using its guarantor right arising from international agreements, launched the Cyprus Peace Operation on the morning of July 20, 1974. As soon as the Mehmetçik landed on the island, they carried not only land but also hope. Thus, the security of Turkish Cypriots was ensured and the foundations of permanent peace were laid on the island.

THE PRICE OF PEACE HAS BEEN PAID
* During the operation, 498 Turkish soldiers and 786 Cypriot mujahids were martyred. While the Turkish Cypriots looked to their future with confidence, thanks to the sacrifice of the holy martyrs, the Turkish nation once again showed the whole world that it would not give up standing by the oppressed throughout history. Even though 52 years have passed, the Cyprus Peace Operation continues to live as one of the greatest epics symbolizing the courage, brotherhood law and national will of the Turkish nation.

Pointing out that Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and Oman in the Gulf region have made serious progress over the years, Fidan stated that these countries have created very strong states and cities at world standards by improving development and basic services. Fidan stated that the US-Iran war affected the regional economy and noted that the risk of this war becoming widespread could cause more problems in the region. Reminding that there are currently attacks on infrastructures, Fidan said, “Our wish is to return to an agreement between Iran and America as soon as possible. As you know, a memorandum of understanding was created with the mediation of Pakistan, the intense contributions of Qatar and the contributions of Türkiye. But then we moved away from here. It needs to be returned to again.” he emphasized. Fidan stated that they discussed these issues in the meetings he held during his visit to Qatar and made the following statements:

“I see with pleasure that Qatar is trying to do its best by using all constructive techniques and all channels to solve this crisis. I hope we will get good news these days. Turkey is in close coordination with Qatar on this issue. Both the security of Qatar, the peace of Qatar, the security of the region and the stability of the region are issues that are in Türkiye’s interest. Therefore, we will continue to work together with both the Gulf Region and other countries of the Islamic world on this issue, as in many other issues.”

HE SAID, “IT IS NOT A 30 MILLION TRANSACTION, BUT A 9.7 MILLION VEHICLE PAYMENT”

The transfer of 9 million 700 thousand TL made from the Babala TV account to the person named Muammed Emre Gökmen with the statement “purchasing 34 FBZ 403 vehicles” was one of the striking headlines of the statement.

The investigation units asked Uğur about his assessment that an artificial transaction volume of approximately 30 million TL was created due to the same amount being returned and sent again by the bank.

Uğur, on the other hand, argued that this transaction was a payment for the purchase of a vehicle, and that it was returned twice by the bank due to a mistake in the name. Stating that three transactions do not mean that the total money is 30 million TL, Uğur said, “The money is 9 million 700 thousand TL in total. It is not money that constitutes any crime.” he said.

“COMPANY MONEY MOVEMENTS ARE NOT REMOTELY RELATED TO THE DUDE”

One of the evaluations in Uğur’s statement was regarding company account movements. Uğur argued that the money transfers made from his companies and personal accounts were “not even remotely related” to the Ahbap Association.

He said that these movements were entirely related to his own commercial operations, that the money subject to account movements was accounted for and should not be associated with the Friends Association.

Rejecting the accusations against him, Uğur declared that he did not commit any fraud, that there was no attempt to launder assets resulting from crime, that he was not aware of the existence of any organization and that he was not involved in the organization.

Stating that he has not met physically with Haluk Levent since 2023, Uğur claimed that Haluk Levent called him three times in 2024 and 2025, and that these meetings were about the song he planned to release and general issues.

SEARCH AND EVIDENCE OBJECTION FROM HIS LAWYERS

AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman, who was in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus within the scope of the 52nd anniversary celebrations of the Happy Peace Operation of July 20, 1974, made remarkable evaluations.

Stating that the Cyprus issue is not only one of Türkiye’s foreign policy topics, but also a common national cause of the Turkish nation, Yayman stated that there is no change in Türkiye’s Cyprus policy. In his statements, Yayman evaluated in detail the European Union’s Cyprus policy, the armament of the Greek side, the statements in the European Parliament, the provocations at the Metehan Border Gate and the vision of a two-state solution.

“THE CYPRUS ISSUE IS THE COMMON CAUSE OF THE TURKISH NATION”

Yayman stated that the July 20 Peace Operation was a historical turning point for the Turkish Cypriot people and made the following statements:

“We are witnessing truly historic moments on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Happy Peace Operation. We know the importance that the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Nation attach to the Cyprus cause. We have always said this, and we continue to say this. The Cyprus issue is an issue above politics. The Cyprus issue is not a party’s issue. The Cyprus issue is the issue of the 86 million Turkish Nation. And therefore today is the anniversary of the 1974 Peace Operation again. We are in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in Nicosia. Once again, we wish the Happy Peace Operation to be auspicious for our nation and the Turkish Cypriot people.

The issue can be looked at this way. If the Happy Peace Operation had not happened, what kind of situation would we encounter in Cyprus today? Unfortunately, the Greek Cypriot side’s approach of ignoring the Turkish Cypriots and assuming they do not exist in the field of political representation, economy and social life continues today as it did yesterday. This manifests itself at different levels.

Continuing his evaluations in the rest of the news, Yayman criticized the European Union’s approach towards the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus and said:

“On the one hand, the European Union’s treatment of the Greek Cypriot side of Southern Cyprus like a spoiled child, and on the other hand, the attitudes of the European States supporting Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration of Southern Cyprus are noted by the Turkish nation.

Our President has a very nice saying. We are on the right side of history. We were on the right side of history yesterday, and we are on the right side of history today. And as our President expressed at the United Nations, we are in a process where discussions of federation on the basis of equal status and political sovereignty are left behind and, in a sense, the two-state solution is adopted by the entire society, as a fundamental demand of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Therefore, as the Deputy Chairman of the AK Party, as a parliamentarian in the Cyprus Friendship Committee and as a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, the stance of the Republic of Turkey on this issue is clear. As our President expressed at the United Nations, the time for turning the tables on this issue is over. We do not find it appropriate to make any proposal, any request for a meeting, or any search for negotiation that ignores the Turkish Cypriots. Because the Turkish people have a very clear stance on this issue.”

“THE FUTURE OF THE TURKISH CYPRUS PEOPLE IS THE FUTURE OF Türkiye”

In the continuation of his interview, Yayman reacted to the statements made in the European Parliament targeting the Turkish soldiers, and also drew attention to the recent military activities of the Greek side.

“The claims of a Greek parliamentarian in the European Union accusing Turkish soldiers in the 1974 Happy Peace Operation are null and void. These are crazy claims. And in fact, they reveal the European Union’s view of the Turkish Cypriot people, its view of Türkiye, and its view of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Therefore, the issue here is never acceptable. We ignore this. And here our stance and attitude are clearly evident. Because here, ignoring the 1960 Agreement, ignoring the entire Annan Plan, ignoring all previous negotiations, unilaterally admitting the Greek Cypriot Republic of Southern Cyprus to the European Union, wanting to destroy the Turks on the island, and being disturbed by the presence of Turkish soldiers due to international agreements, these are not right. There is a very serious indigestion here. It is not possible to accept this indigestion.

Yayman made the following statements in his evaluations of the Greek Cypriot Administration’s recent defense policies:

“As I said, we are on the right side of history. Such claims are crazy nonsense. The rest will probably come from now on. Because Hristodulidis’ attitude is clear. On the one hand, the cooperation agreement with France, and on the other hand, the agreements with Israel and India on long-range missiles and advanced missile systems have actually turned the Greek Cypriot side of Southern Cyprus into an arms depot. And this threat is directly to the Turkish Cypriot people.

The future of the Turkish Cypriot people is the future of Türkiye. The future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is the future of Türkiye. Türkiye will never allow fait accompli on these issues and will never do so. It didn’t do it yesterday, it won’t do it today either. The attitude of our President and the Turkish nation on this issue is clear.

“Just as the ‘Taksim or Death’ approach came to the fore yesterday, Türkiye has not and will not step back even an inch from this point today.”

Continuing his statements, Yayman also touched upon the demonstrations held at the Metehan Border Gate and stated that Türkiye and TRNC are following the developments closely.

“Therefore, the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus take note of the behavior of some parliamentarians and European Union supporters in Greece, on the one hand, and of the Greek Cypriot side of Southern Cyprus, on the other hand, which provoke the Turkish Cypriot people by organizing demonstrations and marches at the Metehan Border Gate or other places. And they are monitoring the issue with strategic patience.

From here, Türkiye’s attitude and the attitude of the Turkish Cypriot people are very clear. We want peace, well-being, tranquility and economic sharing on the island, and the issue here is very clear. It is not possible to flow the water in reverse. While all the promises made here in Crans Montana have not been kept, while the promises made in the Annan Plan have not been kept, and the basic approach and paradigm that ignores the Turkish Cypriot people has not changed, unfortunately, any words to be said here will not bring any progress. And they only want to put a finger on the lips of the parties and push the Turkish Cypriot people into a harmful situation in this issue. And our positions are clear, they do not change.”

At the end of his interview, Yayman commemorated the martyrs of the July 20 Peace Operation and emphasized the struggle for existence of the Turkish Cypriot people.

“The Cyprus issue is a non-partisan issue and hopefully this attitude will continue. Once again, I wish God’s mercy to our martyrs who lost their lives in the 1974 Happy Peace Operation. I salute our heroic Mehmetçik with respect. The Turkish Cypriot people emerged from nothing and were saved from being destroyed at the last moment. I once again respectfully and respectfully express my gratitude to all our statesmen, especially Rauf Denktaş. “If it wasn’t for their struggle, if it weren’t for their righteous cause, if it wasn’t for their unique struggle that really left a mark in history, a completely different picture could have emerged today.
