Statement from DMM: The claim that Turkish planes violated Greek airspace is unreal
In the statement made by DMM, “The allegations made in some media outlets and shared on social media accounts that ‘Turkish planes harassed the planes carrying Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and European ministers and that Turkish planes violated Greek airspace are completely untrue. 4 out of 6 air traffic flying on the Greece-Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCA) route on June 7, 2026 violated the airspace of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).” For this reason, two Turkish F-16 aircraft stationed in TRNC, which were on A/R watch, were immediately removed as a precaution. The aircraft operated over the TRNC airspace and did not violate the Greek Cypriot Administration’s airspace, and the mentioned traffic was not harassed. Minister Tekin attended the “8th Scientific Council Meeting of the Turkish Academy” in Turkestan
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Tekin stated that the historical, cultural and intellectual heritage of the Turkish world should be made more visible in the scientific literature, and emphasized the importance of conducting more intensive academic studies, especially in the field of social sciences. Tekin; He said that studies in fields such as political science, culture, folklore, archeology and anthropology will contribute to strengthening the collective memory. In this context, Tekin, citing Balasagunlu Yusuf Has Hacib, one of the important figures in the history of Turkish thought, as an example, stated that Has Hacib’s works have an important place in terms of human and universal values and stated that such studies should find more space in the scientific literature.

While there are discussions about government systems all over the world today, we are proud of ourselves as a community of nations with one of the oldest state traditions in the world, but the fact that a government system design specific to the Turks cannot be mentioned in the international literature means that even in the Turkish world, government changes in other countries occur.” “In my opinion, giving references through systems is important as it shows the deficiency in the field I mentioned. Therefore, I recommend that in the new period, the Turkish state tradition, our tradition, should be brought into the scientific literature in a more dominant way, especially on issues such as state administration, government systems, human rights, fundamental rights and freedoms, and democracy, and that studies should be carried out in this field.”
