Betting operation against club managers – Last Minute News

Within the scope of the betting match-fixing investigation carried out by the Financial Crimes Branch Directorate, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the legal betting records of the people who managed football clubs between 2020 and 2026 were examined.

During the studies, a simultaneous operation was carried out in 10 provinces centered in Istanbul against the suspects who were found to bet on goals and players in favor of the opposing team in their clubs’ matches during their tenure. While 17 of the 19 suspects for whom a detention warrant was issued were caught, it was determined that 2 suspects were abroad. Many suspects, including former Galatasaray manager Erden Timur and former Eyüpspor President Murat Özkaya, were previously detained in the investigation.

In the reviews, former Beşiktaş manager Tolga Kırgız ranked first with 1,488 coupons, Kerem Gürel 996, Avni Akdemir 218, Ünsal Yamaner 144, Savaş Tatil 124, Hasan Turan Güven 78 and Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Deputy Chairman Maruf Güneş attracted attention with 48 coupons. Ali Sancak, last of former Adana Demirspor President Murat Sancak, was among those detained. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the fight against betting match-fixing and illegal betting will be continued with determination.

Heirs have priority in inheritance sales – Last Minute News

The 12th Judicial Package, prepared to speed up the judiciary, was accepted in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The regulation concerns approximately 400 thousand files at the investigation and prosecution stage. With the regulation, the penalties for IBAN victims were halved, while heirs had priority in inheritance sales. In civil cases, the hearing interval will not be longer than 3 months at most.

DISCOUNT FOR IBAN VICTIMS
An ‘effective regret’ mechanism will be created for IBAN victims. In case the unfair benefit obtained from the crime is returned, the damage of the victim is compensated, and the perpetrator contributes to the investigation or prosecution, effective remorse provisions can be applied to the perpetrator and the penalty will be reduced.

PRIORITY TO THE HEIRS
The regulation for keeping inherited real estate within the family was also included in the package. Accordingly, priority will be given to the heirs in immovable properties that the owners acquired by inheritance and where third parties other than the heirs have no ownership rights.

TORTURE CRIMES
The regulation regarding the postponement of the announcement of the verdict will not be applied to crimes of torture and torment, and crimes committed by a public official due to his/her duty and which will be considered ill-treatment within the scope of the article of the Constitution titled “immunity, material and moral existence of the person”.

TRIAL PERIOD WILL BE SHORTED
The period between hearings cannot be longer than 3 months. In cases of necessity, such as the prolongation of the expert examination or the conduct of investigation procedures through rogatory, the judge may determine a longer period by stating the reason.

The Institute, which has become one of the most widespread cultural institutions in the world with its Turkish teaching and cultural diplomacy activities, also carried out its July 15 commemoration programs through this global network.

EXTENSIVE PROGRAM

As part of the commemoration events, photo exhibitions were opened in many countries, while panels, conferences, interviews, documentaries and film screenings, and martyrs’ commemoration programs were organized. Anadolu Agency photo exhibitions depicting Türkiye’s struggle for democracy also met with visitors in many centres. In the programs, the events of the night of July 15 were conveyed to the participants in different languages.

Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; In full coordination with our Ministry of Internal Affairs and in strong coordination with all our relevant institutions, we are working determinedly to elucidate unsolved crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice.

As a result of meticulous and comprehensive studies carried out on the reconsidered files under the coordination of our Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department, which we established within our Ministry of Justice; The events in which Ali Sarıoğlu, Esra Aşık, Gültekin Yıldırım, Mehmet Ali Türkmen, Selbi Uyğur and Yusuf Sayaner lost their lives have been clarified.

These six murder cases, which were committed in different cities between 2005 and 2016 and remain an open wound in the public conscience even after many years have passed; All aspects have been re-examined in the light of today’s technological possibilities, criminal investigations, DNA matching, HTS and base analyses, re-taken witness statements and new evidence obtained.

– In the file of Esra Aşık, the child who lost her life in an arson attack in Balıkesir 21 years ago, the investigation was reopened against the suspect, against whom it was previously decided that there was no need for prosecution; As a result of the operation, a suspect was arrested.

– In the file of Mehmet Ali Türkmen, who was stabbed to death 11 times at work in Denizli 20 years ago, two suspects who were considered to have committed the murder were caught and arrested by evaluating the re-taken and overlapping statements of the witnesses and the HTS records.

– In the studies carried out regarding the murder of Selbi Uyğur, who disappeared 14 years ago in Hatay, location and excavation operations were carried out based on the confessions received; As a result of the DNA examination carried out by the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was determined that the human bones found belonged to Selbi Uyğur and judicial proceedings were initiated.

– In the file of Gültekin Yıldırım, who was killed 12 years ago in Bayrampaşa, Istanbul, it was determined that the biological findings found at the scene were compatible with the DNA profile of a suspect as a result of comparisons made years later; Following the findings supported by HTS records, the suspect was arrested.

– In the case of Yusuf Sayaner, who was killed 10 years ago in Fatih, Istanbul, the suspect confessed his crime within the scope of the re-investigation and was arrested for intentional murder.

– In the file of Ali Sarıoğlu, who was killed 19 years ago in Samsun, the source of the report made after the incident and thought to have aimed to mislead the investigation was identified years later; 4 suspects identified as a result of new witness statements and technical analysis were caught and arrested.

To our Istanbul, Çarşamba, Balıkesir, Denizli and Hatay Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices who worked with great devotion in re-examining and clarifying these files; I would like to thank the devoted members of our Police and Gendarmerie organizations who strive day and night.
