Details have emerged about the operation against CHP’s Tepebaşı Municipality in Eskişehir, where 60 people were detained and 25 were arrested. Didar Açıkeller, owner of the organization company and one of those detained during the investigation, admitted in his statement that the suspects even stole the morsels of food from poor people.

Açıkeller, who runs the Altınsaray Organization Hall in Yeşiltepe District, said that organizations such as Teachers’ Day, Women’s Day and Disabled People’s Day, organized by Tepebaşı Municipality since 2012, were awarded to him by tender.

Açıkeller stated that he was given 3 blank bid letters from the municipality upon the instructions of Deputy Mayor Seyit Yıldızhan for the tenders of the organizations, and said that he bid and received two of them through companies he knew, and one through his own company.

Açıkeller stated that the meals for the organizations were sent from the municipality’s soup kitchen upon Yıldızhan’s instructions, and claimed that, despite this, upon Yıldızhan’s request, he invoiced the municipality as if he had bought them from outside.

Açıkeller, who claimed that he withdrew the money deposited by the municipality in exchange for the organizations on the same day and gave it to Deputy Mayor Seyit Yıldızhan’s son Mahmut Yıldızhan 6-7 times, to his secretary Filiz 8-10 times, to the Municipality Private Secretary Özcan Erkaya once, and to his brother Özgür Erkaya twice, claimed that he gave 7-8 million TL in this way.

Açıkeller said that for this reason, he could not pay the accumulated VAT debts and that he met with Mayor Ahmet Akaç and explained the situation, and that Private Secretary Özcan Erkaya, who was with them, first denied it, but changed his attitude when he told them that he had documents and photographs.

Thereupon, Açıkeller stated that the other Vice President, Erdal Şahbaz, asked for the documents, saying that he would cover the damage, and when he refused to give them, he said, “If you mention these documents to anyone, we will not give you a job anymore.” Claiming that the President then said, “Let me cover the damage, you can give me the documents,” Açıkeller said that Erkaya sent two people he did not know to the tax office and paid his tax debt of 1 million lira.
