Bribery report against Özel – Last Minute News
The button was pressed after the statements that the former chairman of the CHP, Özgür Özel, received bribes from the mayoral candidates in exchange for being nominated before the 2024 local elections. Gökhan Böcek, the son of Muhittin Böcek, CHP’s candidate for Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, said that his father delivered the 1 million euros requested for the candidacy process to the CHP Headquarters.
SENT TO ANKARA
Witness and suspect statements, HTS records, base station data and other evidence in the investigation file of the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office were evaluated together. It was stated that there were allegations that the money requested by the CHP Headquarters was obtained and delivered in Ankara and that the process was coordinated through various meetings. It was reported that the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office decided not to have jurisdiction on the grounds that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had authority in the investigations to be carried out against the MPs and the file was sent to Ankara.

It was noted that the file regarding Özgür Özel, Veli Ağbaba, Ali Mahir Başarır, Umut Akdoğan, Mustafa Erdem and Cavit Arı was sent to Ankara, and the investigation into non-deputy suspects and other actions continues before the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to the records reflected in the raw HTS data set, mutual (two-way) communication based on CHP Headquarters was detected between Umut Akdoğan and Muhittin Böcek on January 10, 2024, at 13.20 and 13.23. On the same day, it was reflected in HTS analysis that Mustafa Erdem contacted both Mustafa Gökhan Böcek and Muhittin Böcek at different times. According to HTS records, remarkable phone calls were held between Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başkar on the dates when the money delivery claim was brought up. In the records, it was stated that Muhittin Böcek called Ali Mahir Başkar at 23.03 on January 8, 2024 and at 11.34 on January 10, 2024, and at 13.59 on the same day, Ali Mahir Başkar called Muhittin Böcek while the base station of the CHP Headquarters was in the coverage area. It was pointed out in the file that the meetings in question coincide with the time period in which Mustafa Gökhan Böcek said he delivered the money.

We do not condone the waste of public property
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the 164th Establishment Anniversary Ceremony of the Court of Accounts:
I hope that the 164th anniversary of the Court of Accounts’ patrol, one of the most established institutions of our state, will be beneficial for our country and nation, especially the Court of Accounts family. Our Court of Accounts is an institution where the principle of continuity of our state is institutionally embodied.
RIGHTS OF 86 MILLION
Just as we see the defense of the national will as a duty of honor; We do not condone the waste of public property, its exploitation through illegal and irregular means, and especially its attempt to gain profit. Our attitude and stance on this issue is very clear.
Each of our 86 million citizens has the right to public property. Strange people, orphans and orphans who have no hair yet have their share. Beytulmal is also entrusted to us by future generations. It is our red line that all public personnel, regardless of their rank, title or position, act sensitively when using resources. Resources allocated to public personnel due to their duties or positions are not the property of anyone’s father. No matter what is written on his door, no public official can or should use it as his personal wallet. We cannot allow this.
Of course, it is not possible for states that cannot use their resources effectively and efficiently to be powerful and effective. For this reason, good management of public finances is of great importance. As Türkiye, we are a country that has suffered from wastefulness, carelessness and populism in the past.

WE WATCH THE SCANDALS
The scandals centered on local governments, which we have recently followed sometimes with astonishment and sometimes with shame, can never be excused. It is our duty to fight against those who see the nation’s trust as plunder, within the framework of the law and the law, no matter who they are.
WE WILL ACHIEVE VICTORY IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TUTORIAL
We remember very well how the resources that the nation has raised from tooth and nail were squandered. Along with the greedy and incompetent, one of those who dealt the biggest blow to public finance was the tutelaries. All anti-democratic interventions, starting from the May 27, 1960 coup, whose 66th anniversary passed last week, have caused billions of dollars of damage to this country, impoverished our people and left Türkiye behind. None of us have forgotten how SSK was publicly collapsed, how the banks were emptied, and how the rentiers prospered from the public’s pockets. Along with the greedy and incompetent, one of those who dealt the biggest blow to public finance was the tutelaries.

JULY 15 CAUSED 350 BILLION DOLLARS OF DAMAGE: All anti-democratic interventions have caused billions of dollars of damage to this country, and the cost of the latest bloody coup attempt of July 15 to the Turkish economy is more than 350 billion dollars. They stole thousands of dollars from the pockets of each of our citizens.
THE COST OF GEZI IS TENS OF BILLION DOLLARS: The direct cost of the Gezi events, which was also a coup attempt, is 1.5 billion dollars, and the indirect cost is tens of billions of dollars. I believe that these should also be taken into account when talking about using public resources for the benefit of the public. Whether through street events, FETO-like terrorist organizations, or junta members; Unfortunately, the damage caused to our country and the nation’s purse by tutelage attempts targeting the national will is not discussed enough. Türkiye’s struggle against all kinds of tutelage centers is also a struggle to get rid of these burdens completely. Hopefully, when this struggle is victorious, the economic recovery of our country will accelerate and the nation’s resources will flow more into the nation’s pockets.
THE TURKISH WORLD HAS GAINED A DIFFERENT DIMENSION
Last November; We are very pleased with the Association of Courts of Accounts of Turkish States established in Istanbul with the participation of the Courts of Accounts of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. I believe that the union, of which our country will hold the term presidency for three years, will add a different dimension to our relations with the Turkish world. Hopefully, we will open the doors of a new era with the 13th Leaders Summit of the Organization of Turkish States, which will be hosted by our country in the fall. I pray that God will be our friend and helper. With these thoughts, I hope that the 164th anniversary of the Court of Accounts will once again be beneficial for our country and nation.

THE TOUR OF ACCOUNT HAS BEEN RENEWED WITH REFORMS
With the steps we have taken in the last 23 years, we have further expanded the scope of the Court of Accounts. We have transformed our Court of Accounts into a structure that responds to the needs of the 21st century and is shaped according to international standards. With this regulation, we enabled the Court of Accounts to renew itself. Thanks to democratization reforms, the Court of Accounts gained the authority to audit institutions using public resources. The Court of Accounts has also undertaken digital transformation.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality period ended in the Basilica Cistern
The legal process regarding the ownership of the Basilica Cistern, one of the landmark structures remaining from the Byzantine period, has been concluded. The court ruled that the ownership of the historical building belongs to the General Directorate of Foundations, in accordance with the Foundations Law No. 5737, and decided that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) should evacuate the cistern.

TRANSFER HAS BEEN DONE
IMM teams claimed that the location and square meter information on the island and parcel specified in the court decision belong to the area where the exit door of the Basilica Cistern is located. Thereupon, the General Directorate of Foundations and Fatih District Governorate teams continued the transfer process by entering through the exit door. IMM teams evacuated the historical cistern and handed it over to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Foundations and Fatih District Governorship teams. Following the transfer, the General Directorate of Foundations will continue the processes regarding the ownership and management of the Basilica Cistern.

WILL BE OPENED AGAIN
The cistern, which was closed with the start of the transfer process, will be reopened to visitors after the completion of the counter procedures to be carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations. Local and foreign tourists who come to visit the Basilica Cistern will be directed to the Şerefiye Cistern until the opening.

Minister Göktaş: “We see a significant change in fertility”
In his speech at the “Three Generations of Turkey from Data to Vision” research findings sharing program held at Ankara Judge House, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that they would share the results of the study they carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Institute Social, which will make you rethink what is known about the family.
Stating that they want to see how the preferences that guide family life are shaped not only by today’s conditions but also by the experiences transferred from generation to generation, with the “Comparative Examination of Marriage and Fertility from a Multidimensional Perspective: Research on Experiences, Perceptions and Plans”, Göktaş stated that they aim to read through the data how the idea of marriage and having children resonates in different regions.
“INTERGENERATION RELATIONS ARE DIFFERENT”
Wishing that the study will be beneficial for Türkiye and families, Minister Göktaş said:
“A child’s sense of security, a young person’s search for direction, and the elderly’s pursuit of a peaceful life are primarily reciprocated within the family. The young and dynamic population is an integral part of this picture. Therefore, we cannot consider the family as just individual preferences and the population as a matter of numerical increase or decrease only. Because today, family structures are changing not only in Türkiye but also in many countries. Population balances are transforming, intergenerational relations are changing. The decrease in marriages, young people marrying later, postponing the decision to have children and the decrease in the fertility rate are now temporary trends. “These developments directly affect working life, social security system, national defense force, health and care services, production capacity and intergenerational solidarity.”
Reminding that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan drew attention to the risks faced by the family and dynamic population structure with a strong foresight many years ago, Göktaş said, “The point we have reached confirms how accurate it was for our President to see these risks as an existential threat. Today, we consider this warning as a historical responsibility that must be undertaken with the wisdom of state and a determined will. Strengthening the family, protecting our dynamic population, strategically related to the survival of our nation and the future of our state.” “We see it as a field.” he said.
Emphasizing that their work is based on their deep-rooted historical knowledge, policies shaped on scientific grounds and a management approach that focuses on people, Göktaş said, “Without a doubt, all the steps we have taken in recent years are the rings of our great civilizational march, rising on these principles, completing each other.” he said.
Göktaş said that they have opened the door to a new era in the Vision Document and Action Plan policies, which are a first for the protection and strengthening of the family, which they put into effect in 2024.
“WE PLACED THE FAMILY-FRIENDLY ECOSYSTEM AT THE CENTER OF PUBLIC POLICIES”
Göktaş stated that they carried their work to a strong inter-institutional coordination basis with the Population Policies Board and stated that they established the Family Institute to shape family and population policies with an approach that directly takes the field into account.
Göktaş continued his words as follows:
“In the Year of the Family 2025, we gave a strong impetus to our work. We organized nearly 20 thousand events during the Year of the Family. We implemented projects that touched our households. With the Family and Youth Fund, we turned it into a fruitful support that serves the peace of the homes that our young people will establish. We offered support to our growing families by restructuring our maternity supports. We allocated a special quota for our families with three or more children in TOKİ social housing. Our civil servants have no right to work part-time until their children reach primary school age. We have taken steps to expand the use of nurseries and child care centers in our public institutions and organizations. We have pioneered the work to extend post-natal maternity and paternity leave periods. We have implemented a comprehensive legal regulation to protect our children from the harmful effects of digital media. We have made our experience in this field more visible at the international level with the unique model we have developed. Our President’s 2026-2035 period ‘Family and Population 10′. “We have made the first steps of a long-term transformation by declaring it as the ’20th Year’. We have made the ideal of ‘Turkey rooted in the family, strengthened by the population, rising to the future’ as the main direction of the new era.”
Stating that they transformed family ties and intergenerational solidarity into a national ownership that strengthens Türkiye’s future with the National Family Week, Göktaş stated that they put forward their strategic policies surrounding the future of Türkiye with the “Family and Population Decade Vision Document”.
Stating that they have made Türkiye’s development and future vision one of the mainstream elements with their family and population policies, Göktaş said, “With this understanding, we have placed the family-friendly ecosystem at the center of public policies. Because we know this very well. No matter how strong the roof of our state is, it is the strong families that will keep that roof standing.” he said.
